OlderEllen Pompeo: I Sold Vodka at the Age of 15
Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo had a very interesting childhood story to tell on Friday’s The Late Show with David Letterman. Apparently, as a 15-year-old, Ellen sold Vodka to baseball fans at Fenway Park, the home ballpark of the Boston Red Sox baseball team.
On selling herself at such a young age: “I made a great living at Fenway when I was 15-years-old. There were lots of guys in the neighborhood and there were always these great job opportunities at the time. They all seemed very nice, innocent and fun!” (The audience laughed because of her suggestive implications.)
On how she got away with selling Vodka in public: “When I was 15, one particular man asked me if I wanted to make some money. He said, ‘All you have to do is sell slush outside of Fenway.’ I thought, ‘Now that sounds easy.’ They’d drive me to Fenway, set me up on the street with this nice cart and nice umbrella. And inside the cart, there were two flavors: lemon and watermelon. And then beside the two flavors was slush inside one of those big ketchup bottles. But there wasn’t ketchup in it, Dave. There was Vodka.”
On how she sold her product: “I used to stand around saying, ‘I got the special slush over here. Special slush!’ I’d [usually] give them one pump but if they gave me a few extra bucks, I’d give them two pumps.”
On not feeling guilty about selling alcohol: “Listen, I just gave them what they want. I had the longest line. There must have been 12 slush carts on the street. No one else had a line. I was the only one!”
On the possibility of being arrested: “I could have been in prison but all of the cops that were standing around didn’t seem to mind. They clearly knew what was going on. I was giving them slush too! You know those Boston police. Have you seen The Departed?”

On the site of abc too, someone asked the question: “who is your favourite character ?” and Meredith arrives 1st, far ahead McDreamy!
I think that explains she’s invited to shows like Letterman, people ask for her!!!!
For my part, I heard on the radio (Z100 New York) that Dave was very pleased that she has accepted his invitation and during breaks Ellen continued to tell stories to the public and she made everyone laugh .

I also heard the radio guys talked about Ellen, he spoke of the presence of Jay-Z and Mary J. and said that just before David Letterman was charmed by EP and she had make laugh the public a lot !
I don’t know her but all what I have read or heard about her are only nice compliments, she must really be someone nice!

I’m no die-hard ellen fan but I like both her and kate walsh really much… i just think she’s really cute and funny… and she doesn’t look ugly either…
oh and another thing the way she made fun of the other people as well as the punk’d interview…it’s called a joke people… I talk that way with my friends too and I’m sure you do… hope this gives you something to think about…
There was a scandal with KH and TR? BS…the only media show that aired the most edited footage on the planet was TMZ. Besides the person who was there at the event clarified everything. There was no scandal.
This was promotion for the return of GA, and she could have easily discussed some hints. PD has, and other GA stars have. She was terrible promoter of the show. Sadly, the other interesting stars like KW, ED, and KH are all filming GA and doing a movie at the same time. They actually have work to do, and the very little time they have they spend with their loved ones or significant others. EP has nothing going on. No campaigns, no movies, or nothing in the pipeline. Hell, Knight is working on a play. EP was the easiest one to get that wasn’t busy, and she’s the lead so the most obivious choice to use as PR. Sadly, they forget how much she SUCKS at it when she is solo. You don’t go a trash talking everything in site. You are there for promotion of the show, and that’s why ABC used her. She wasn’t invited. You get invited on Oprah, but not these things lol…..

I’m an Ellen fan. I realize that some are being negative and that’s fine, it’s your own opinion. For instance, I don’t like Katherine Heigl but I don’t bash her the way some of you do. It’s rude to suggest she uses botox and to criticize her weight. Some women are skinny? Who cares! She’s healthy, that’s all that matters! She has a lisp? Yeah okay, she’s human. That’s no reason to dislike her.
Personally I thought the interview was wonderful. Not just because I like her but because I laughed throughout the interview. My mother and Grandmother, who can be very critical of actors and actresses both found her funny, down to earth and beautiful. She had a tough life. The fact that she isn’t close with her father isn’t a big deal. They probably had a h.e.l.l. of a past. I think it’s good Christopher(she called him this in the interview- very cute) encourages her too see him. She was kidding about him having alterior motives. They’re big basketball fans. So why not stop by her fathers when they have tickets. I think Ellen made the comment to shift the attention off of her relationship with her father.
The slush story was hallarious. It’s such a New York story. She was fifteen- give her a break. She wanted money and she cracked a couple of jokes about the police who didn’t bother her. My uncles a cop and I didn’t find it insulting to cops. She spoke the truth and also made a relevant comment about a movie, so no It wasn’t offensive.
I think Ellen is very intelligent. She talked about her past this interview, but if you’ve ever read her interviews you’d realize how intelligent intellestually she is.
She’s an inspiration to many out there who too are suffering through childhood. I respect her.

She’s so funny, I watched her with my mom and we find her endearing, my mother did the same thing but she was 17 when she was in high school , 20 years ago you were allowed to sold but not to drink it!!!
