It was a night with no shortage of celebrities, including Miley Cyrus, Carrie Underwood, Robin Williams, Snoop Dogg, Fergie and many others, but the biggest treat for the audience at Sunday night’s taping for American Idol’s second annual Idol Gives Back broadcast was none other than Brad Pitt himself.

Though Brad’s involvement with the special, which seeks to use the hit show’s unmatched popularity to highlight and raise money for good causes around the world, had been announced at the beginning of the season, many had assumed his segment would be pre-taped and that he would not appear in person.

But, following a video clip of the Fight Club star touring the hurricane-devastated areas in and around New Orleans and talking to the children of displaced families in the area, the hunky star walked onto the stage of Hollywood’s Kodak Theater.

“The crowd went wild!” one audience member tells OK!. “The noise was deafening.”

And even though the screaming fans began to quiet down after Angelina Jolie’s baby-daddy gestured for everyone to calm down, you still couldn’t hear him — but only because his microphone wasn’t working!

This little tech snafu, which witnesses tell OK! had also happened earlier in the evening to fellow celeb guest Reese Witherspoon, was quickly remedied. And it even gave Idol’s stage manager Debbie Williams an opportunity of a lifetime. “I just needed a reason to touch him,” she joked to the audience.

The father-to-be’s appearance on the Idol stage was brief, but he did take the time to thank the fans before he introduced a video of former Idol finalist Chris Daughtry visiting the African nation of Uganda.

“Brad actually seemed quite shy,” one audience member tells OK! about the superstar’s cameo appearance.

I went to video shop to rent newly reeased AMH and there were also 5 newly released Cyborg 2 DVD.
They were claiming on “ this is Angelina Jolie’s FIRST movie ”
Wasn’t that bombed B-movie and nothing but 18 years old Angie.
It reminded me recent 16 years old Angie’s old photos comeback.

A look at what the media outside Louisiana are reporting on New Orleans.

Life in the Big Easy is back to normal, at least for tourists. But I also saw another part of New Orleans — away from the bright lights and T-shirt stands — that still struggles with the overwhelming task of rebuilding.

Ordinary people have emerged as extraordinary leaders who are helping to restore the city’s dignity as well as its schools, churches, homes and businesses. The arts and culture have emerged as a healing salve, connecting people to each other and to a past that’s been washed away. Rituals and celebrations, like the funeral procession I watched one morning from my hotel window, are rebuilding a sense of pride in New Orleans’ rich traditions.

But I also saw a sea of tents pitched beneath an interstate overpass near the city center where hundreds of people have established temporary homes. There are still 100,000 houses to be rebuilt.

Entire neighborhoods, like the Lower Ninth Ward, which is predominantly African-American, still do not have electricity, running water or trash pick-up — basic services that would allow people to rebuild their lives.

Brad Pitt was speechless when he walked onto the American Idol stage Sunday night — literally.

The crowd when wild when the actor took the stage at Hollywood’s Kodak Theater to tape a segment for Fox’s second annual Idol Gives Back special, making talking impossible.

The crowd jumped to their feet for the hunky superstar, whose efforts to help rebuild housing for families who lost everything in 2005’s Hurricane Katrina were recognized by show. (The broadcast will air Wednesday, April 9.)

After nearly 30 seconds of cheers, the 44-year-old Pitt — who was slated to introduce a film clip about former Idol contestant Chris Daughtry’s visit to Uganda — tried to say “thank you,” but his microphone wasn’t working.

That’s when Idol stage manager Debbie McVickers rushed up to see what was wrong.

As McVickers hurried to fix Pitt’s microphone, which had come unclipped from his shirt, she joked to the crowd about her “moment” with Pitt: “I just needed a reason to touch him.”

Then, when a female production assistant came out to make sure the mic was affixed properly, McVickers joked again, “We need more women to touch him.” Once properly wired for sound, Pitt was able to get through the introduction without a hitch.

Last year, the inaugural Idol Gives Back campaign raised more than $75 million for domestic and international charities. This year, producer Nigel Lythgoe told the audience minutes before the taping began that he “could feel” the show would crack the $100-million mark.

*****In fact, the show has already exceeded that amount thanks to a $200 million pledge by British Prime Minister Gordon Brown who, via a taped message, said the country would pay for 20 million mosquito nets for African families in need.******

The impact of the evening was not lost on Miley Cyrus, who, like others in the theater, learned that even ten dollars — the cost of one mosquito net — could make a difference in someone’s life. “There’s people that can give hundreds, thousands,” Cryus said. “[It's good] to have that self-power and be able to say, ‘Okay, no matter how much I’m putting in, I’m making a difference.’ “

Other big moments of the night include performances by Cyrus, Carrie Underwood, John Legend, Annie Lennox, Gloria Estefan and Mariah Carey. And Fergie’s rendition of “Barracuda” with Heart’s Ann and Nancy Wilson brought down the house.

First off…

Looks like I was wrong about Brad appearing on Idol Gives Back; but… hee, hee… so was E News. Sorry if I was short with some posters about this issue.

Second… Brad didn’t share the stage with Peecrust so the insults will not cease (as if Brad and Peecrust sharing a stage would merit the cessation of Peecrust insults).

Third… anyone else think that TPTB had Peecrust tethered while Brad’s mike was being adjusted? Because, quite frankly, the only chubby I would want to see is the chubby of Brad Pitt’s rosy cheeks (face).
