Orlando Bloom is the Prince of Persia

Orlando Bloom has landed the lead role in the next big budget franchise, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, according to recent reports.

Orly, 31, will rake in a reported $40 million for all three pictures. The first pic will be directed by Mike Newell (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Donnie Brasco). June 2009 is the tentative release date and filming will start in Morocco.

If this is any measure of success, Bloom certainly knows how to make a successful threesome. Pirates of the Caribbean, anyone?

FYI: High School Musical hottie Zac Efron was also rumored to be in the running for the role. And remember, this casting news hasn’t been officially confirmed by legitimate news sources yet. So stay tuned!

No. Posted it as a s.p.e.c.u.l.a.t.i.o.n. (got that all you oversensitives out there?) that this could provide diversion from the fact that Bloom was caught partying, again w/o his alleged gf, and leaving this party with 3 girls, on top of all the Aniston stuff last week. None of it looks good after the truluv pap tour. Both Bloom and the VS model look like fools right now.
And its become apparent the AE drop out had nothing to do with a schedule conflict.
At least with this POP rumour, Bloom looks like an employed tool and not just another useless, nothing to do but get into the tabs, celebrity.

I’m no fan of Disney, but if they want to give this movie credibility, they should get an actor with, if not persian origin, at least persian looks. If the actor can act, the movie would be a success even if the actor is unknown, die hard fans of the game would go see it and spread the word.

Neither Orlando nor Zac are suitable for the role. I don’t really know much about Orlando so I wouldn’t comment about it. Zac, however, has potential but still has a long way to go before trying for such roles. His talent needs to develop more with other roles and he needs to start shifting from the teen star image and start cultivating a much broader fanbase. I think his greatest hindrance is being a tween star, hopefully, as he takes on more complex and less glamourous roles, he’ll start to be taken as a serious actor and not just a pretty face. He’ll yet get there, not just now.

It will prob go to zac if disney is producing it … they are in love with him right now and he would bring in way more fans and because he is still trying to really make a name for himself they would save money not having to pay him and much as they would an A-lister actor
