Mimi:

“Crack the whip” means to use your authority to cause people to do more or do what you want. What Went said in that interview is “That’s your job, crack the whip”, which meant the interpreter tried hard to push Went to speak in French.

wenty! wenty! where are you?

wintersky @ 04/24/2008 at 7:58 am

JJ - We need new pics

You know that this guy has no career. He’s a B-List actor on a C-List show and really all he is reduced to is promoting Starbucks and flying around to promote Prison Break. In his videos where he is to talking about how his fans don’t expect his character to go over to the dark side!
…. he seems like he is starting to merge the real world with fiction a little too much. Coo coo clock is ticking…

No directors or producers with any credentials wants to cast him in a movie because basically he’s just a walking endorsement for whatever products he can attach his name too. He’s not a serious actor.

Ano - you sound jealous to be honest. Obviously you care enough about him to come post nonsense in his thread. *yawn*

“He removes the aviators for the second pic & then hugs & kisses her… she kisses him back”…………..ok let’s hope it was just a peck on the cheek. ;)

it’s the truth em…he’s not an actor he’s a walking endorsement. you’re ignorant to realize that the media/market uses anything to make you buy into more trivial and irrelevent junk.
when people don’t like the truth the first line of aattack is ..”you’re jealous.” that allows you to bury your head in the media bucket of sand.

But Ano…..isn’t that how things are done in the global market? This is a product, he’s a product, and I, the consumer, have the choice of whether or not I want to purchase or buy into the above product….and believe me…a pretty face might help when it comes down to making the final decision…..hey….we didn’t make the rules and neither did Mr. Miller.

That beanie he’s wearing is his lucky hat

Thank you so much Grace, ‘merci beaucoup’ , you’re awesome! génial! because you have answered me……..i understand now .

Do you want an autographed Went’s picture?

southoro@hotmail.com

Ano, I understand what you ‘re saying.
I agree that
1/ Miller is not an “oscar” actor.
2/ He’s promoting prison break, it’s his job and he earns money from it. I would do exactly the same.
3/ We the fans are good numbers and more dollars to his pocket.

On the other hand, we the fans of Mr Miller are not exactly the victims. Thanks to him our fantasies get richer as we enjoy a hot man playing on screen. Mmmmm……
Secondly, the directors and producers are going to cast him in movies (erotic mostly I guess), because they are not stupid. They will exploit that hotness.
So, he gets money, we get fantasies. He sells , we buy. It ’s very simple my friend.

@ Ano #279

Um, you might wanna get your facts straight before posting a comment (no matter that this blog tends to endorse quite a different approach). Yes, we can agree that he is a B-list actor (even Wentworth himself is very likely to agree with you on that one, just read some of his interviews), although he has some serious potential (think ‘The Human Stain’).

If you can bother to check some statistics that are monitoring ratings of TV shows, you can conclude that up to season three, in most European countries (in some of them season 3 is not over yet) PB was A-list (or B-list at worst) show and around the world (South Africa, South Korea, China…).
Even in States ratings never slipped that bad that you can call it a C-list show (FOX wouldn’t air it for so long and wouldn’t opt for Season 4).

Also, this lead to a conclusion that Miller HAS a career (present tense). Will he have one in the future (future tense), well, we don’t know that yet, do we? Because, unless you can predict the future, it’s save to say you don’t have an idea whether producers/directors will cast him or not for future projects.
He is promoting Starbucks now, is he? Would you be so kind, to let us know where and how did you get that piece of information? Or, maybe (and there’s a wild thought!) he is just every so often caught by paps going to his local Starbucks for a cup of coffee? And I admit, that is getting kinda boring already.
He is “a walking endorsement for whatever products he can attach his name too”? Care to share fact(s) you are basing your statement on?

On “flying around promoting PB” - well, others said it already - that would be in description of his job that he is paid for, wouldn’t you agree?

And please, would you be so kind, at least, to make some valid and well balanced point in your post next time? Internet blogs such as this (although of entertainment nature) are already clogged by posts with no rational and eloquent point to them.
And no one ever said fun/entertainment can’t be based on eloquence and good reason.

Or, maybe you can be really cute next time and go with the flow and call him a gay?;)

I strongly disagree with anyone who claims that Wentworth is not a serious actor. Only those who have seen ALL his work have a right to make a judgment like that…and his body of work, while relatively small at this point, demonstrates his talent and versatility. He was nominated for a Golden Globe for PB 1.

The third season of Prison Break was a one-note bore, but that is not Wentworth’s fault, as he doesn’t write the script.

I believe he will prove you doubters wrong. It might take another ten or fifteen years, but one day you will see him onstage accepting his Oscar. He has the talent, the drive, the looks, and the fanbase to have a great career, and any director or producer would be foolish to underestimate his potential.

He is not paid to advertise for Starbucks or any other American products, except for Prison Break.

@Sunny,

technically you are not quite right about him not advertising any American products - remember GAP ad back in the end of 2006 (if I’m not mistaken)? It was rather cool campaign with lots of celebrities, it was called “Khakis with Attitude” or something like that.
Although, he is not paid for any advertising now, as far as we (fans) know.

Who flippin cares what he endorses! All celebrities do it! It’s called the media machine people! As an actor, if you want to get your name out there, you pick up the odd endorsement deal here and there….it’s all part of the game!

In french we say : “-les goûts et le couleurs ne se discutent pas!” :-)

Ano, thanks fo sharing ;-)

hi everybody it’s me again (thank you again grace), i don’t speak english very well and i want to understand another thing…
in the end of this video (interview in England) the reporter Richard asked Went something but i can’t clearly hear what is about and Went said the number 3…? i suppose that is about his origins/roots? because i understand that they talked about his ‘melting pot’ that he’s syrian ,lebanese, french, german, african, jamaican, dutch,Richard forgot russian and cheeroky i think that’s why Went said to him ‘yes but it’s not the all picture’…but just after i don’t clearly understand or hear what question Richard said to Went and he answerd i think maybe three…thank you’ i don’t understand so please if someone can answer me….PLEASE HELP ME I JUST WANT TO KNOW THX

You’re going to be very excited, fans :
http://www.w-miller.net/

oh mimi sorry I can’t help, I guess 3 is for 3 generations but I’m not sure because I can’t clearly ear the question. BUT THANKX FOR POSTING THE VIDEO it’s one of my favorite, he’s awesome.

@mimi
They’re talking about his melting pot. Richard says ‘how many generations are you going back here.’ and Went says 3.

@bokili,

You are right!! My bad…

When JJ posted the pictures he wrote, “pillow from Bed Bath & Beyond, sunglasses by Ray-Ban” which might have given some people the impression that Wentworth earns money by advertising for these companies. He does not.

IMO, he could make a mint endorsing various products, but that is not his focus and it might detract from his image, at least for now. There are plenty of actors who don’t need the money (Angelina Jolie does print ads for St. John, Brad Pitt advertises Omega watches) who do this, and why not?

@ Sunny,

Of course, I totally agree that actors/celebrities making ads is normal part of their jobs. I don’t mind seeing anyone in adverts if I like those ads (if I don’t, then there’s simple solution, I just don’t watch it;)
And I agree with you that WM has a good acting potential and I would enjoy seeing him in future, in new roles (quality ones, like it was role in THS)

In my previous, longer, post to Ano#279 I just had a problem with what it seems a general trend in blogs/forums/net, and that is - people posting their opinions without checking facts first and stating those non-valid opinions in such way that one can not but react.

I'm the 300!!!! @ 04/25/2008 at 11:38 pm

I’m the 300 who post comment on Wentworth Miller post!!! ;)

So he’s mine…:D
