American Idol Performs “Shout to the Lord”
The American Idol “Final 8″ performed “Shout To the Lord” as its closing song Wednesday night during Idol Gives Back, a music celebration raising awareness and funds to benefit various U.S. and international charities. Here are some sample lyrics:
My Shepherd, My Savior
Lord there is none like You
All of my days, I want to praise
The wonders of Your mighty love
“Shout to the Lord” is a popular worship anthem, written by singer/songwriter Darlene Zschech in 1993. However, the original lyrics start the song off with “My Jesus” but was replaced with “My Shepherd” for American Idol.

DAVID ARCHULETA WILL WIN!!!!
It’s my JESUS, my saviour. The lyrics were changed the first time they sang it because the producers did it illegally. Please do not leave out the name of Jesus…He is the one who died for us! Give Him and the songwriter, some respect. :) Thanks. That’s all.
I was blown away with the final performance! I am so glad that the group was able to sing such a spiritual and beautiful song. Praise God!!!
Please bring Shout to the Lord on tour!!!!!!
PLEASE SING THIS ON TOUR!
all you people saying jesus is great and wonderful need to grow up and realize that your childish fairy tales about a mythical space god and his son (who oddly, later becomes him — explain that one) are just rubbish. i mean really, does “god” really seem to pay no attention to you or your prayers (ever notice only about half seem to come true?)
it’s stupid and inane. the only thing even more ridiculous is that american idol decided to pander to the religious rednecks who make up most of the viewing audience.
