what was that? THAT SONG IS SO WEIRD!! it’s like r&b and blues and rap and i don’t even know what else. WHAT GENRE EVEN IS THAT? woah that was weird. seriously? “sneakernight?” what kind of title is that?? that song was so strange. i do not like it.

Boji, I know! I used to make fun of ‘Umbrella’ but the beat got to me that I kind of generally ignored the lyrics.
Actually, considering past threads, I was expecting more criticisms just because it’s Vanessa. I suppose, apart from the lyrics (which like most people have pointed out, is common with a lot of hit dance numbers) there’s not enough material for criticism. Her voice and the hot beat vindicate themselves.
I think she’ll attract new fans with this song especially Christina Aguilera fans. I can’t wait to start requesting it like crazy!
Yeah .. I LOVE Vanessa sooo much!!! Huge fan of hers.. BUT to be honest the first time i heard the song i was like … ehhh i don’t really like it that much … BUT then i listened to the song like 5 more times and then you really start getting into it and it grows on you … the lyrics are simple and cute and All the Vanessa fans UNITE!! and let’s request the song on all our local stations.

I don’t care for the song after one listen. Her voice sounds too “synthetic” (although I realize that the majority of artists sound this way on studio albums). Maybe I’ll like it better on future playings, and it will grow on me.

Her voice is stronger but generally the song stinks. She needs to leave Hollywood Records and work with better producers/songwriters.
There are pop/r&b producers who can work with her and develop a better sound for her. Look at Rihanna. She can’t sing worth a damn but she make a great record cause of her producers had a musical vision for her.
Vanessa can sing she just needs better directions and songs.
