I do like them both. However you can pick up a Leona Lewis anywhere in the US, there are so many sound alikes over there. Even Christina Ag has a better voice than Leona. Lets see if leona is around in 18 years time still scoring number one singles and albums or will we see her being dragged out of some seedy drug den with a needle sticking out of her arm.

Mariah has a very trained voice. Her mother was an opera singer and Mariah has a voice that no can compare too. Her range is outrageous and she has never gone off key. Her whistle voice is outstanding and she learned all this from very young being trained by her mother to sing Opera. That is why she has such a wide range because of all the hard work and training when she was growing up. But she is also gifted in songwriting and she just has a God Given talent. Alot of people copy her but she definately has her own style and it cannot be duplicated. You know when she is singing and people who try to sound like her cannot even touch her voice.

ok…so the debate is who the better singer is, right? let me just start out by saying that ms.carey has indeed changed over the decade, her style is not at all the best and the voice of course is a bit faulty at times. but recently, i was in a barnes and noble’s and actually got the chance to hear leona lewis’s album, and i liked it a bit, but wasn’t totally sold, and then i realized why: it sounded like the vision of love album i loved as a kid, with a little of “the bodyguard” thrown in. why are we having this conversation? by the fact that she does her darndest to imitate her so well, leona has already proven who the winner is. and let’s not forget, we’re talking about someone who has paid their dues, and proven what they’re capable of, not some young snot nose who listens to an album over and over again and copies it right down to the last hook. vocally, she can’t touch mariah or whitney, close but no cigar. ms.lewis will be a fine leader for the new generation of singers, but lets not forget that she didn’t light the torch.

mariah has proven herself through the years. Leona has a lot to work on before she can be like “mariah”.

Definately Mariah! People like Mariah come around like Hailey’s Commet; You feel em comin, bask in the glory, and sigh when they have faded. So just recognize the uniqueness that is Carey.

As of today Leona released 2 singles both went to #1. You can’t do any better than that.

i have to say Leona Lewis is the better singer. i can’t say i don’t like Mariah Carey (she is a good singer too) but like i said… Leona is my pick.

p.s. for the person (username: ME) who commented that Mariah has had the longer career so she deserves to sell more albums… i say.. career doesn’t matter. if you’re good, you’re good. If you do well then ppl will like your stuff and you will do great.
