When I stop to think about it - Brad being at Disney is probably a project that he’s looking at for himself. His production deal is with Paramount. Dreamworks, which does animation, is part of Paramount. So why would Brad need to go to Disney to produce animated projects?

It seems Universal Studios is relying a lot on love from comic book fans this summer. They’re distributing the new “Incredible Hulk” movie for Marvel Studios, in addition to releasing two other films based on popular comics: “Wanted” (from the Mark Millar graphic novel) and “Hellboy 2: The Golden Army” (based on the Mike Mignola creation). These last two movies were the topic of a special panel held at the 2008 New York City Comic Con on April 19th.

Universal began things with an introduction of the director of “Wanted,” Timur Bekmambetov. He introduced two clips that were shown especially for fans present at the panel. The first showed the moment when the film’s main character Wesley (played by James McAvoy) meets Fox (played by Angelina Jolie). A huge shoot-out and car chase ensued that was big-screen mayhem at its finest.

As Bekmambetov confessed, “It was a lot of fun. We wrecked a lot of cars.”

The second clip showed the moment Wesley meets the Brotherhood of Assassins, of which Morgan Freeman’s character is a member. It’s a great scene that is very reminiscent of the comic book source material. There are some slight differences though - one of those being Wes’ “disease.”

Wes has an ailment in the film where his heart beats very fast (400 beats per minute, according to the clip we were shown). He takes pills because he believes he’s sick. “He’s not sick though, it’s actually his power,” the director explained.

Morgan Freeman tells Wes that the quicker beats give him more adrenaline and, therefore, quicker reflexes. McAvoy’s character is then informed that he is one of seventeen with these powers, and that he must kill the man who killed his father.

Bekmambetov said he first encountered “Wanted” after “Nightwatch” was released in the U.S. He also stated, “Mark (Millar) was consulted during filmmaking and likes the movie.”

Another fan asked about the lack of costumes in the movie (as the comic book was based around super-villains instead of assassins). Bekmambetov explained that he was trying to ground the film in reality. He said, “Can you imagine a super-assassin walking down the street in a leather outfit? We were already excited about Wanted after seeing some footage at Wondercon, but the extended and deleted scenes we saw at New York Comic-Con sealed the deal for us. Wanted looks like it has enough slow motion, heart pounding chase scenes to give the slow-mo fight king The Matrix a run for its money. Director Timur Bekmambetov gave away some new plot details and explained why he chose not to put the characters in their comic-book garb. Minor spoilers ahead.

Extended version of Wesley-Meets-Fox scene:

Wesley is at a cash register inside a grocery store. Fox (Angelina Jolie) approaches Wesley and says, “Your father died yesterday on the roof of the Metropolitan building….sorry. The man who killed him is right behind you.” Cue heart beat sound effects and slow motion fire fight sequence. An unnamed gunman is trying to take out both Wesley and Fox. Fox is carrying a gigantic wrap-around gun with a corner video. (Which means she can shoot around the corner without having to peek over.) The fire fight goes back and forth while shoppers scream and run out of the way, until it spills out onto the street. Fox hops into her red Viper and literally picks up Wesley by opening the car door and donut spinning the car into him. Needless to say Wesley is not happy and begs Fox, ” I don’t know what you did to piss that guy off… Could you let me out at the next corner?” The chase ensues complete with gratuitous and completely fulfilling car flips, which compliment the one minute shoot-out Fox does while hanging from outside the car window (in motion of course). We also discover that the scary unnamed gunman can shoot bullets around objects without the help of Fox’s fancy gun.

Deleted Scene: An Introduction

Timur explained that this scene was cut because it took too long to explain Wesley’s heart condition. Wesley’s heart beats at 400 bpm and allows him access to much more adrenaline than a normal human, which is why he can become a member of the elite assassins. Wesley awakes in an unknown hideout home to Sloan and his gang. Sloan brings over the wingless flies to Wesley and tells him that if he can learn to harness his adrenaline he can use it, and then lays it on thick telling him there’s a ‘Caged lion locked inside and he needs to find the key to release it.’ Wesley is then given his late poppa’s gun and told that the assassins want him to kill the man who killed his father.

When asked why the characters weren’t dressed in their superhero-esque attire (most notable Fox’s lack of ears) Timur responded, ” There are so many movies where the characters are in costume. What I don’t get is that Brad’s not the last man that dumped her. The most famous, yes. The last? No. Vince Vaughn publicly dumped her, the minute he got caught with the co-ed. Yet, no one goes after him. Paul S. dumped her after a month of promoting a relationship that really wasn’t one and smart water and nothing.

Why would they keep their charitable donations “on the down low” when the entire purpose is to draw OTHER PEOPLE’S ATTENTION to a particular cause?

I said keep their charitable DONATIONS on the down-low, not charitable work which is an entirely different thing. When I give a DONATION, I give it and nothing more is said about that except on my tax forms. When I do charitable WORK, of course I promote the cause. You’re the idiot.

Jesus…you’re a moron and a half. The same reasons apply to charitable donations as charity work. If they announce their gifts, then others will learn about a cause or an issue and donate, too.

When YOU give a $20 donation, nobody gives a flying fcuk because YOU’RE A BIG FAT NOBODY! When Brad and Angie give a $1MILLION donation, then other people or corporations come forward and give money in any amount.

And BTW dumbfcuk, Brad and Angie didn’t adverstise their donations to organizations like Doctors Without Borders and Global Action for Children. The charities themselves made the announcement. The charities understand, even if you don’t, by making an announcement of a gift from a high-profile celeb that others will follow suit.

I don’t even know if I need to write anything further…none of that was even in my post!!! I never bashed the JP’s in my post and even stated that I am a fan of both Brad and Angelina…just because I stated that I am also a fan of JA doesn’t automatically mean that I am running around plotting the downfall of the JP’s…it may be a really hard reality for you to recognize, but you can actually be a fan of all 3…I don’t remember there being a set of guidelines stating that you have to pick sides and stay loyal or be outcasted…
