Clint’s ‘Changeling’ set for Cannes

Clint Eastwood’s “Changeling,” a 1920s-set mystery thriller starring Angelina Jolie, will be part of the competition lineup at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival.
The full slate of Cannes Official Selection entries is being announced today in Paris.
“Changeling,” which Universal will release domestically in November, also stars John Malkovich, Amy Ryan and Colm Feore. Pic will be Eastwood’s fifth to compete in Cannes, after “Pale Rider,” “White Hunter, Black Heart,” “Bird” and “Mystic River.”
In a reversal of how the situation looked late last week, Woody Allen’s “Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” which stars Penelope Cruz, Scarlett Johansson and Javier Bardem, will appear in Cannes after all, with Allen attending the fest over the initial weekend.
In another switch, it seems that Barry Levinson’s “What Just Happened?” may not close the fest, leaving question marks over both the opening and closing slots, which have been unusually difficult to fill this year (Daily Variety, April 18).More than one option(Co) Daily Variety

Speculation continues to surround Steven Soderbergh’s dual Che Guevara features, “The Argentine” and “Guerrilla.” Despite the desires of both Soderbergh and Cannes topper Thierry Fremaux to premiere the films on the Croisette, it looked all but certain last week that the biographical dramas simply wouldn’t be ready in time. No one is saying the situation has definitely changed, but the competition schedule is being left flexible enough to accommodate Soderbergh in case he decides the films are in shape to present to the public — a result for which Cannes programmers have evidently been given some reason to hope.
It would hardly be the first time a not-entirely-finished film unspools in Competition; indeed, “Apocalypse Now” and “Paris, Texas” were both further reshaped by their directors after winning the Palme d’Or.
Among other last-minute additions to the competition are the new pictures by Chinese helmer Jia Zhangke and Singapore’s Eric Khoo. South Korean auteur Kim Jee-woon’s “The Good, the Bad, the Weird” will be shown in the Official Selection in a special screening.
If both Changeling and KFP are shown in Cannes Angie and Brad will be there if at all possible.

I think we will see them go to Cannes since Angelina is the main star in Changeling.
The Changeling doesn’t open until November, but it can still compete at Cannes? I thought pictures premiering at Cannes had a summer opening? If that is the case, I wonder if Brad’s BB will be presented at Cannes? Peace
Just wanted to say that Shakira is working with the Global Campaign for Education (US chairman is Gene Sperling) to promote education. This is the same organisation that Angelina Jolie is working with to promote education for children, especially refugee children in her Global Action for Children.
Need I say I like Shakira?? No wonder Jon Voight got Zahara mixed up with Shakira!!! :lol: :lol:
I think that they will go to Cannes. Angie is going to have 2 movies showing there and so far 1 for Brad, but I guess we have to wait until the full list comes out tomorrow to see if TCCOBB will also be showing in Cannes. I can’t wait for the family to go to Cannes, it will be awesome
The changeling must be pretty damn good to be in the running for Cannes competition. Can’t say I’ll watch the changeling when it comes out. I hate crying in movies and this one sounds like a real tear jerker. Definitely will watch Wanted and COBB and BAR and KFP
I’ve got a feeling Angelina and Brad will both be there in Cannes. I think Angelina was pregnant in November (around London Beowulf premiere) which means that by end of May she would be 7 months pregnant at most. Still pretty mobile then (see Cate Blanchett).
Does anyone know whether Brad has another movie to film soon? If not, it seems like both Angelina’s and Brad’s schedules may be free till after the second coming.
I think Brad will start shooting movie Fighters on September.
Babel was shown at Cannes but it was released in September. So showing The Changeling at Cannes is possible.
Pretty sure Brad has cleared his work schedule now that his part in Tree of Life is complete until he is supposed to film The Fighter with Mark Walberg in the Boston area this fall.
I hoped Changeling is in Toronto too. Angie will have given birth by then though (maybe 2 mos before) so she may not be up for it.
I thought the Cohen Brothers said BAR would not be at Cannes. But with Angelina having two pics showing there it is a good chance she will be there. Yeah

Wow. That’s great news. Especially since Clint & Universal have entered it in the competition. That means that everyone thinks the movie is excellent. With Kung Fu Panda showing out of competition, I think it’s almost a certainty that the Angie & Brad will be in Cannes. It’s probably just about the only PR work she’s going to be able to do for either film.
I think she will be able to do PR work in the fall for Changeling since it comes out in October.
OMG! I can’t wait for the PR storm Brad and Angie will produce in Cannes. It’s more spectacular than any Hollywood prduction. The international media ask awesome questions too. Cannes is the best!

The film must be good. Universal studio and Clint must have enough confidence letting this film running for competition. I hope they could bag some award home. and keeping my finger crossed, hope Angie and Clint could ended up at the Oscar next year.

She’s not a real actress. She doesn’t have any talent. Her movies can NOT compete in Cannes cos they are not good at all :( FLOPS!
