Suddenly, it’s subtle…
By Roxanne Parker
Wednesday April 23 2008
The chav is dead, long live ‘brelegance’! That’s brunette and elegant to you and me! Over the past few months there has been a seismic shift in fashion’s choice of style pin-ups. Gone are the attention-seeking blondes such as Paris, Nicole and Lindsay with their fake tan, girly fashion, hair extensions and stints in the slammer for drink-driving.
Hollywood’s brat pack is being pushed aside to make room for a far classier breed of celebrity — the brunette brigade — as fashion turns to the dark side.
Just look at the ‘Carla-mania’ caused by supermodel-turned-France’s first lady, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, on a recent official visit to London.
Dressed head to toe in Dior, Bruni was compared to Jackie Kennedy and Princess Diana, in her demure, sophisticated wardrobe and matching pillbox hat.
It marked a new movement in fashion and a noticeable shift away from conspicuous glamour to a more subtle form of dress, that whispers elegance rather then screams in-your-face sex appeal.
Bruni is not the only member of the ‘brelegant’ brigade. Katie Holmes looks so groomed in her over-sized shades and wrap coat, she’d rival New York’s original grand dame of ‘brelegance’ — US Vogue’s editor, Anna Wintour.
Angelina Jolie is another fully paid- up member of the ‘brelegance’ movement. Whether she is working the red carpet or speaking on behalf of Unicef, Jolie snubs sequins and bling, in favour of classic tailoring and a subdued colour palette.
Of course, it’s not just the brunettes who’ve laid claim to fashion’s new sophisticated style.
Lysaa is here to start trouble.

(Beautiful picture of AJ at site. Sexy woman ever. Now that is something you can put on your resume in addition to being a world class humanitarian. It beats whiny woman ever. My bad!!!!)
MY SUN users have been locking horns on our forums as they try to decide who deserves the title of the sexiest woman in the world.
Many names have been added to the list, but it seems MY Sun users lust over Angelina Jolie the most.
Nickayla-Jane says “Angelina Jolie is by far the sexiest woman on this planet. She’s got both inner and outer beauty.”
And who are we to argue?

(For all the De Niro fans and New Yorkers. Tribeca Film Fest. Entire article at link)
NEW YORK (AP) — In 2007, the Tribeca Film Festival underwent a modern-day rite of passage: the backlash.
Speed Racer
“Speed Racer” is one of the major studio films premiering at the
Co-founded by Robert De Niro after September 11 to help heal his Manhattan neighborhood, the festival had previously enjoyed a thankful reception. But as it expanded further into New York and the number of screenings quintupled, some began to resent Tribeca’s growth into the already crowded festival circuit.
“You can’t please everybody,” De Niro said in a recent interview. “If everything’s going nicely, there’s always going to be somebody to say something.”
The seventh annual festival, which opens Wednesday night with the premiere of the Tina Fey comedy “Baby Mama,” has responded to the complaints of last year. To help moviegoers wade through the thicket of largely unfamiliar titles, the number of feature films has been cut from 157 to 120 (even though total submissions increased from 4,550 to 4,835). Screenings have been refocused geographically to a “hub” of downtown Manhattan, and average ticket prices have been brought down from $18 to $15.
Tribeca, it’s clear, is still trying to win over New York and the film community.
“There were some very valid criticisms and we’ve listened to our audience the way when you’re producing a movie and you have a test screening,” said Jane Rosenthal, De Niro’s producing partner. She is also a founder of the festival, as is her husband, entrepreneur Craig Hatkoff.
Though the festival trumpets its economic impact on the city (it says $119 million was generated last year), the Tribeca neighborhood no longer needs commercial help. One need look no further than the ultra-luxurious Greenwich Hotel that De Niro opened earlier this month.

Program aims to get New Orleans music onto New Orleans films
Monday, April 21, 2008
By Mike Scott
When Oscar-winning director Jonathan Demme was selecting music for his forthcoming feature film “Here, Today,” starring Debra Winger and Anne Hathaway, there was one song he knew he had to have: Al “Carnival Time” Johnson’s “Ninth Ward Blues.”
It’s a song Demme had first heard while putting together his Hurricane Katrina documentary “Right to Return: New Home Movies From the Lower 9th Ward,” and, he said, it was perfect for his dramatic comedy.
“I fell in love with that song,” Demme said.

For the New York filmmaker, who had made several “musical pilgrimages” to the city over the years and directed a handful of Neville Brothers videos, it was a bit of a lucky discovery, one that was solely the result of his interest in local music. For Johnson, it was a nice payday.
Now the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation is hoping to forge similar relationships between filmmakers and Louisiana musicians. Through a new program called Sync Up, foundation officials are hoping to sell Hollywood music supervisors on the value of using New Orleans musicians on their movie soundtracks.
Representatives from studios such as the Weinstein Co., Nu Millennium Films and HBO will attend a Jazzfest junket designed to give them a first-hand introduction to the local music industry.
In addition to experiencing the festival, the studio reps are scheduled to tour local recording facilities, because any original recording done in the state on behalf of a film production — from the orchestral score to generic background music — qualifies for state tax breaks.
“The film companies are already coming in to do their location shooting because of the tax credits,” New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation spokesman Scott Aiges said. “What hasn’t been happening is they haven’t really been using any local music. When the state was writing the film tax incentive program, they made it quite explicit that music would be an expense that would qualify.”
The problem, as Aiges sees it, is that music supervisors are frequently brought on board after principal photography has been completed on a film — that is, after the project has broken camp and returned to the West Coast for post-production.
As a result, many music supervisors go into a project unfamiliar with the local talent pool and the myriad musical genres it covers.

Good Morning all. Wow a lot of night birds out there or whatever time it is in your neck of the woods. Thanks for all the articles, videos and links. Just Jared is the place to go for the latest BP and AJ news. They are making an impact in their careers and humanitarian projects. I wish AJ a happy and safe pregnancy. She is a great role model and someone that young women can look up to. She rises above the negativity and marches to the beat of her own drum. Have a great day and make it a MIR day. Peace to all.
We hear Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have purchased a house in Point Clear. Tied up in the purchase is the rumor they wanted David Cooper’s house, but he wasn’t selling. Who knows?
