OlderZac Efron Meets Young Cancer Patient
High School Musical fan Connor Steventon meets star Zac Efron as a special surprise for his birthday on March 1.
Sadly, Connor, 13, died on March 19 after a two-year battle with cancer. His memory will live on with plans to form a charity in his name.
Connor’s mom Tracy Mason shared a little about how Connor got to meet Zac: “About six weeks before his birthday I thought, ‘He is going to be 13, what can I do that’s really special?’ He had everything, didn’t want or need anything and was mad about High School Musical. When I saw on iomtoday (Isle of Man Today) that Zac was coming over I thought we have got to make that happen somehow. Before his birthday he had started to go downhill, sleeping a lot, and I thought we would have a High School Musical party and asked Zac to come and surprise him. [When Zac agreed to come,] Connor’s little eyes nearly fell out of his head.”

even with his busy schedule he takes time to visit his fans, he’s a good role model to look up to. its so sad about that little kid. he was lucky to meet zac, at least he got that.

This story makes me soo sad. My hart goes out to this childs family.
It makes me even sadder that all some people can think about when they see this picture is where Zac’s ring is.
Does it really matter more then the fact that a child has passed away?
I am sure that wearing his ring to make his fans happy was the last thing on Zacs mind when he went to visit such a brave child.
I’m sorry but I have to say something. I know no disrespect is intended but to look at this picture and read the accompaning post and think “OMG where’s the RING?” is insensitive. This was not about “Zanessa” this was about Zac taking the time out of his very busy schedule on a day that most likely was his day OFF and bringing joy to a sick kid.
Yet all people can think about is that stupid ring. I’m sorry but this speaks of a serious misplacement of priorities. Does anybody think the experience was lessoned for Connor because Zac wasn’t wearing his ring? I sure hope nobody thinks that but I have to wonder sometimes.
I apologize if this sounds harsh but I really think people need to reread this post and reconsider what is really important.

He was in the middle of filming and had a crazy schedule…not to mention getting mobbed when he went anywhere, but he still found time to visit this sweet child. The ring???The ring??? NOT AN ISSUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hiya folks, Always knew Zac to be an intelligent, thoughtful,conscientious, caring and compassionate individual. This is just a fine example.
Connor is at a place now where he is at peace and free of pain and suffering. His shortlived life had a purpose in that it has affected and touched the hearts and lives of many.
My condolences to his family who feel the sadness of their loss and may they achieve what they have planned in the aftermath of Connor’s departure.
zac thank you so much for making this little boy’s dreams come true, im sure he’s looking down in heaven to you now. : )

I didnt ever once think that zac not wearing his ring was more important than this little boys dream coming true before leaving this life. It was just a small observation from me, and overly obsessed Zanessa fan. It really is unbelievable that Zac did this with his very hectic schedule and i am very sorry for anyone that misunderstood my post. I didnt mean it in that way at all.

I agree with you.
It seems that a good many people DO NOT read the text accompanying the picture. They simply look at the picture and assume it was taken today.

It really is amazing that Zac did this though. I keep saying it over and over but its true. Zac is a true role model to everyone. We need more celebrities like this. Thanks Zac for making the pain Conner went through seem a bit worth it to see you. Your an inspiration to me.
when i look at the pictures i didn’t even realize what hand he had up. now that i see it’s the ring hand it’s a big ohhhh and understand why people said that, but deff not more inportnt than what he did for this little boy.
