The Vanity Fair photo spread of Miley Cyrus has been released! As always, here are some of the interview highlights:
On Sex and the City: “It’s my favorite show! I love it! Obviously not the scenarios. But if you watch Sex and the City, like the way the friends are, the way that it’s dry and they all have distinct characters—that’s a thing we try to do on our show.”
On the infamous semi-topless shot: “No, I mean I had a big blanket on. And I thought, This looks pretty, and really natural. I think it’s really artsy. [And] it wasn’t in a skanky way.… And you can’t say no to [photographer Annie Leibovitz]. She’s so cute. She gets this puppy-dog look and you’re like, O.K.”
On whose career trajectory she’d like to follow: “Before, I’d say like Hilary Duff. But there can’t be a thousand Hilary Duffs. Then that doesn’t make Hilary special. And there can’t be a thousand Miley Cyruses, or that doesn’t make me special. That’s what a star is: they’re different. A celebrity is different. So, no, mostly I want to make my own path.”
On being well-adjusted to the fame and public attention: “That’s just my personality. I don’t get shaken or stirred up over anything. Which can be a problem sometimes. I’m just, like, so no emotions. I just don’t let things faze me. I’m very much like my dad. My dad’s like this.”
On being pals with paparazzi camped out of her gated home. “Sometimes there’ll be like 40. Sometimes 20, sometimes 30. Sometimes two. I’ll stop and I’ll do the picture. It’s really funny. They’ll buy our dinner and whatever. We’ve become friends.”

This is so sick, Billy Ray that is so wrong. What is Nickalodeing thinking. First Jamie and now this. What in the world is going on? I think my girls will find a new station other then Nick. I dont want them to think this is the right behavior for young girls. Sorry Nickalodeing but this needs to stop. Her father is No Father she is only 15. hmm..Don’t really know what to think…I’m not a Miley fan but I don’t hate her. I’m 21 so her show and musics a little too young for me. I know she’s only 15 but her stuff is sort of directed for younger kids mostly still in the high school way of thinking. But never-the-less even though I don’t like her I won’t attack her either.
it’s not the first time someones done a “topless” shot and it wont be the last. I’m not going to call her names for this but I dislike the fact she did these at age 15.
I’m a photographer and I love almost all forms of art and I’m not closed minded at all…the body is a form of art and it’s beautiful to depict in photos…but there has to be limits and standards and personally I myself would never in a million years photograph a 15 year old girl in this light and in these suggestive poses. I think that type of modeling needs to be reserved for over 18’s. No this type of art is not trashy and no it’s not ******. The photographs aren’t ugly but in my own opinion they’re too provacative for a 15 year old.

As a parent of teen girls who admire Miley, I am upset with her parents and the adults in her life. The pictures are first and foremost, inappropriate for her age and just not necessary. Here we go again. Someone please ” We need a Hero”. We glorify the stars in rehab and prisons and wonder why are children are so messed up. Why is money worth more than our integrity and our children’s innocence. What is wrong with the world anymore?

It seems to be a few steps from child pornography… a minor wearing just a sheet and no bra. Not just a “mistake” while she’s sitting in front of the camera along with several other people in the room.
I blame her parents the most. Can’t she speak for herself? Most interviews and comments are from her mother!
My six year old idols her, but I refuse to purchase any more of Miley’s marketing materials. It won’t hurt their pocketbook, but it is sad for my daughter. She may have “learned from her mistake”, but there could be more mistakes in the future and I won’t promote her in my household.
I have no problem with the picture I have see more skin in bikini pics of my friend rather than this picture. Now what bothers me is the arogent sounding comments vanity fair has bin posting on there page and other media sources.

first of all, there is nothing wrong with this photo. yea, its a little akward and the only thing that is making it weird is everyones comments. she is fully clothed in the picture with her father, and the positioning is not at all “weird”. they arent even looking towards each other. also, she probably was suggested and almost forced to be shot for this magazine and in certain ways, not knowing what kind of comments would be thrown at her. look at what teen celebritys are doing today. would u rather hear that she has been doing drugs or even PREGNANT? she is a beautiful girl, and everyone can see that. so i think that people should leave her alone (:
