The Vanity Fair photo spread of Miley Cyrus has been released! As always, here are some of the interview highlights:
On Sex and the City: “It’s my favorite show! I love it! Obviously not the scenarios. But if you watch Sex and the City, like the way the friends are, the way that it’s dry and they all have distinct characters—that’s a thing we try to do on our show.”
On the infamous semi-topless shot: “No, I mean I had a big blanket on. And I thought, This looks pretty, and really natural. I think it’s really artsy. [And] it wasn’t in a skanky way.… And you can’t say no to [photographer Annie Leibovitz]. She’s so cute. She gets this puppy-dog look and you’re like, O.K.”
On whose career trajectory she’d like to follow: “Before, I’d say like Hilary Duff. But there can’t be a thousand Hilary Duffs. Then that doesn’t make Hilary special. And there can’t be a thousand Miley Cyruses, or that doesn’t make me special. That’s what a star is: they’re different. A celebrity is different. So, no, mostly I want to make my own path.”
On being well-adjusted to the fame and public attention: “That’s just my personality. I don’t get shaken or stirred up over anything. Which can be a problem sometimes. I’m just, like, so no emotions. I just don’t let things faze me. I’m very much like my dad. My dad’s like this.”
On being pals with paparazzi camped out of her gated home. “Sometimes there’ll be like 40. Sometimes 20, sometimes 30. Sometimes two. I’ll stop and I’ll do the picture. It’s really funny. They’ll buy our dinner and whatever. We’ve become friends.”

Wow, since when did society become so prude? It’s her back for christ’s sake! Since when was a back a private part of a body. A few years back, Emma Roberts did a photoshoot in a bra, and I saw the picture for myself, and she didn’t get barked at. My goodness, let the child live her life, it doesn’t mean that she’s going to rehab, and it doesn’t mean that she’s going to be a ****, it just means that she’s getting out there, and being a celebrity. And as for those ‘provocative lesbian’ pictures she took of herself and a friend, I saw them, ok, they’re normal teenaged girls doing normal teenaged girl things. You think that’s bad, hey parents, go check your teenaged daughter’s myspace pictures, I bet some of you would get a glimpse of what real dirty pictures are.
How old are you people posting on here? Doesn’t matter, you’re being ridiculous. Those photos were no big deal. Any father could take a snapshot with his teenage daughter these days and have a middriff showing. Or have her butt cheeks hanging out of her shorts or skirts. What’s worse? I think it’s wonderful she seems to have a genuinely caring family involved in her life. You people need to look at yourselves and what you/you’re kids are wearing before going on a stupid rant!

I can’t believe everyone is making a big deal about those pictures! If anyone else had a sheet covering them like that, the world would want it taken off. If she had a halter top on it would cover her the same. As for the picture with her dad~it’s sad how distorted this world has become. When a dad and daughter take a picture together and everyone’s mind is automatically perverted! I blame that on the public, not the photographer! Ok, that’s enough of this. First of all, the things I’ve read here on this bulletin are downright mean and vicious. The photo with Miley and her father is in no means racy or provocative just because her midriff is partially exposed. It is being made that way by evil minded people with nothing else better to do than tear people down. It’s going to get to the point that the man can’t even hug his daughter without someone saying that is sick or perverted… and that is just sad.
As for the other photo, she can wear a bikini or a backless dress, but can’t have just her back showing in a photo shoot? This is not full frontal nudity or nudity obscured only by her arms and hands. She was covered with a blanket with just the back showing. I really saw it as more “angelic”. Angels are often pictured like that, but no one says a word about that. Why are you people doing it here with Miley Cyrus… calling her a tramp and a *****?
I can only suppose it’s because a lot of people on this bulletin board are filled with so much hate and venom that you can actually sit and tear a 15 year old girl apart every which way you can. It turns my stomach. Next, you’ll be calling her a ***** because she dared to polish her nails pink. Does tearing her down make you feel better about yourselves? I suppose it’s easier to tear down a 15 year old than to look in the mirror and change what you don’t like about yourselves, huh? This is when maturity sets in. When you’re tearing down someone, it because you see things that you don’t like about yourself and that makes you feel insecure. When you make changes within yourself and start to feel better about you, then you won’t have the need to be tearing down anyone else. You might even start seeing things in a different perspective and actually see the beauty in things…that is the true mark of a beautiful woman.

i dont understand why they’re making a big deal out of a photoshoot. the picture with her dad is perfectly normal to me. when i first saw this picture the first thing i noticed was how close she is to her dad (dad daughter relationship) which is something beautiful. the second picture that she took with bed covers was indeed very artistic. you guys just are trashed in the head and close minded. she is not showing her body in any way and i dont believe this picture was not taken with sexual intentions in mind.
