Miley Cyrus has become the center of a media storm for a semi-topless photograph, taken by Annie Liebovitz for Vanity Fair’s June issue.
As you can see, the 15-year-old media darling made front page news of the New York Post with the headline exclaiming, Miley’s Shame.
The near-nude pic shows Miley clutching a satin sheet to her chest with her back bare exposed. In her interview with the mag, Miley said the picture is “really artsy,” but not “in a skanky way.”
She has since apologized to the public for the photos.
“Somebody needs to pull in the reins of this talented little gal before her career stampedes off into the sunset,” says the LA Times.

She should just give it up, no one believes her “I’m so embarassed” whining anymore. She straddles the fence until she sees which way the wind starts to blow, and if people react negatively, then she’s “sorry” and “embarrassed” - but only AFTER she knows people think they’re inappropriate. I don’t care if she takes racy pictures, I think she’s a wh*re anyway, and her father is her pimp, but don’t insult people’s intelligence, you know? Not only were her parents there at that shoot - they left before it was over - her grandmother and manager were there too. She should be embarassed, but only that she thinks people are seriously that dumb.

When I first read this story I thought that she actualy posed topless but she is wearing a big blanket on this picture which is not that big of a deal.

Those pics with her dad are disgusting. If you look she actually posed that way with the guy on her myspace pics as well. So wtf?
It looks really, really tacky and nothing says “I’m pimping out my daughter for cash” like the picture of Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley Cyrus.

The only thing wrong with Miley’s pics is the fact that everyone is making a bigger deal than necessary. Yes she’s 15 but if she was wearing a halter top would people be freaking out? When she wears a bathing suit are people going to freak out? I’m sure that if her dad didn’t find anything wrong with the pics then who are you to decide that there is. She’s obviously a smart girl who shouldn’t have to apologize for anything. I say, stay strong and let the people who have a problem with the photo shoot not buy the magazine. GET OVER IT FOLKS!!!!!!
I think it’s wrong that photographer asked her to take her shirt off for a photo only being 15. I’m surprised the photographer isn’t getting in trouble, that can be consider child pornography since she’s under 18.
I think it was wrong on both parts and I think her parents should have been there with her for the whole shoot. I sense something wrong with the photographer because she obviously waiting until her parents were gone. This just proves how naive and young she is, she has a lot of growing up to do.

I think the media is making a bigger deal out of this than it is because they have nothing better to do. Either that or all the controversy is being done on purpose as a publicity ploy. It’s just her back, big deal. If anyone is reading more into it, they’re the one with the issues.

I’m not a big fan of her but maybe she just wants a more adult role. Like I heard somewhere they were saying the goal was to get her away from Hannah Montana because shes to old. I mean in 3 years she’ll be 18. But I do think she should take sometime to think about where shes going in life. I mean look how many haters shes getting. Again I’m not a fan of her but I do think shes still a person and people make mistakes. I’m glad to hear it was suppose to be in an “artsy” way though.
she’s a smart girl. going back to joss’ comment up there, miley cyrus knows how to have her fun and get away with it (the art of apology). sure she seems to be pushing the envelope these days, but getting on her case for taking a photo that shows a bare back and then calling it “semi nude” is blowing things way out of proportion!
this is not going to help her. all this negative press is only creating more pressure. besides, since she’s still a minor, shouldn’t the parents, manager, or even the photographer take some responsibility?

Pictures are never just looked at facevalue, especially ones that are done for artistic reason. They always want people to interpret someting.
IF YOUR BLIND and can’t see what the photographer wants you to interpret, then go do the exact same pose, and show it to some random middle aged male strangers, and see how they interpret your pose. Honestly, do the experiement, and i garauntee that most people will think you are trying to be sexy

AND not to mention he whole basis for her image, is Im pure, I have faith etc. WHO gives a Shite… if models her age do photos like this a worse, those models arent trying to sell a “pure” image.
