David Blaine Breaks World Record on Oprah
Wed, 30 April 2008 at 1:57 pm
Magic man David Blaine set a new world record for holding his breath underwater for 17 minutes and 4 seconds today in Chicago on The Oprah Winfrey Show.
“A lifelong dream,” a glad Blaine, 35, told Oprah moments after setting the record in a water-filled sphere. “I can’t believe that I did that.”
Less than two years ago, Blaine went into convulsions during a similar attempt. The previous record was 16 minutes and 32 seconds.
Blaine’s record-breaker will air on Oprah this afternoon.

****! o.O
I saw his last attempt, it was disturbing. Dunno why he would try it again but.. good for him.
I don’t care for the magician stuff but I am sure the folks that wanted this to be a mystery to them until they watched the show appreciate you telling them the outcome.
Oh!!!! That is really disgusting.
ok
wow. he’s kinda of a hottie. if only he didn’t always talk like he’s on valium.
They were talking about this on http://www.celebrityprayerlist.com too. Way to go David Blaine…that’s quite a “magic trick” you did there. What’s next, fastest relay race time?
wow (shoes4life) you really need to loosen up some
thanks for spoiling it!
it hasn’t aired on the east coast yet!
sheesh
aww! he’s gorgeous!! Thanks!
I’VE BEEN 5 MINUTES DOWN WATER.. I HAVE TO PRACTISE A LOT MORE… AND TO LEFT THE CIGARRETES
That isnt magic… it’s called stupidity. Magic is pulling a bunny out of a hat
This was just absolutely amazing! I meditate as well and while i can slow my heart rate down considerably, i cant even come close to holding my breath for a fraction of what he did. (and really wont try to) Such a feat requires extreme mental and physical strength. The man is great!
And just for the record, just because you may not understand something, it doesnt make it stupid! Expand you mind.
