OlderIron Man Downey Jr. is a Swinger
Robert Downey Jr. signs autographs while leaving Mr. Chow restaurant after having dinner with Swingers star/Iron Man director Jon Favreau to celebrate the weekend box office success of Iron Man in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
RDJ, 43, recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly and talked about the next Iron Man movie. Here’s what he said:
When you were brainstorming with Jon Favreau, what were the elements that you wanted to bring to the next Iron Man movie?
There’s this idea of Terrence [Howard] putting on a suit and coming back as War Machine, who is pretty iconic in the Iron Man and Marvel universe. Just seeing where it can all go, but grounding it in a very modern mythology. I see it as greatest dysfunctional family story ever told…. In The New York Post a couple days ago, [there was a cartoon] of Iron Man suited up, and he’s telling the governor even his super-powers can’t get him out of the budget problem. That was what Jon was hoping for and excited to see the most, the idea that Tony Stark and Iron Man can become part of the cultural fabric. When we heard posters were being defaced to promote political or social ideas, he just got such a hoot out of that.

Of all the rehab stars, RDJ is my favorite. He jokes about his rehab, but I know it’s really really hard to stay sober. I was an alcoholic for years, & Rational Recovery helped me … w/ no “God” or meetings.
I’m not a jet-setting Hollywood star - just an old San Francisco queen… but still sober after all these years. I wish him the BEST - he’s a nice guy.
I have always liked RDJ. I really hope that he stays on the straight and narrow and continues to have great success.
He’s really cleaned up his act. The success he’s getting right now is well-deserved. WTG!
