Jennie Garth Joins 90210 Spinoff — It’s Official!

Jennie Garth, an original cast member of Beverly Hills, 90210, has snagged herself a recurring role (not a regular one) on the CW’s new spinoff of 90210.

Garth, 36, will be reprising her role as Kelly Taylor but will play a guidance counselor at her alma mater, West Beverly High. Former 90210 stars Tori Spelling and Ian Ziering are also out to secure roles in the new spinoff.

Last month, Jennie abruptly dropped out of the CBS comedy pilot, My Best Friend’s Girl.

Also last month, AnnaLynne McCord and Dustin Milligan joined the 90210 spinoff.

Other additions to the show’s grown-up cast include Lori Laughlin (Summerland) and Jessica Walter (Arrested Development).

I totally agree with the whole “nostalgia” theme that everyone seems to have, the orginal was a complete mess. Sad to say it, but yes it’s true.

I guess everyone is forgetting that the show is not about the original characters so I don’t see Brandon and Kelly getting back together. They were never meant to be anyways. Dylan and Kelly weren’t the default couple but if you want to look at it that way — Brandon and Kelly would have been default since Luke Perry left in Season 6 and that would have proved they were default because good ol’ Dylan left. Same thing in the finale.

I am pretty optimistic about the series because I am hoping that they have more intelligent writing than the original. The original had absurb writing when you really think about it. It was suppose to be a teen drama yet it turned into All My Children. Yet…it wanted to send some type of message when it came down to drugs and rapes in the midst of the trainwrecks. I mean seriously, who would want to rape Tori Spelling aka Donna Martin? LOL

YES! Kelly was my favorite character, and I’m really excited to see the new show. Knowing Jennie Garth will be on it makes me happy.

You’re dead wrong #28. Brandon and Kelly were meant to be. Dylan and Kelly were the DEFAULT couple. Brandon and Kelly would’ve ended up together if Jason didn’t leave the show. B/K were never default, regardless of whether Luke was there or not. Dylan belonged with Brenda! B/K and B/D…that’s what it’s all about!!
