Jenna’s twin sister, Barbara, stood as Maid of Honor while Henry’s brother, John, stood as Best Man.
“This Mother’s Day weekend was awfully special for [my wife] Laura and me,” Bush said at an airport in Waco where he boarded Air Force One to return to Washington. “We’re mighty blessed.”
Bush even described the outdoor sunset wedding as “spectacular,” referred to his daughter as “our little girl Jenna” and called his new son-in-law a “really good guy.”
Also pictured below: Rev. Kirbyjohn Caldwell of the Windsor Village United Methodist Church in Houston and parents of the groom, John and Maggie Hager. (John Hager is the chairman of the Virginia Republican Party, a former lietenant governor of Virginia, and served in President Bush’s Education Department.)

She looks very natural and pretty. I like the style and form of the dress but not the material. I also like that she didn’t try to do something silly with her hair and make-up like so many misguided brides do.
I like that the groom is in a business suit. Jenna’s sister’s dress is very nice as well but Laura looks too matronly in that get up. Also Laura’s eye surgery just emphasizes her weird eyes.
Except for the ridiculous number of bridesmaids, it seems like a nice down to earth wedding. Good for them.

It is the Bushes so we shouldn’t be surprised. They aren’t like the Kennedy’s of the first half of the 20th century. Stylewise, it all went downhill after the 60’s.
Lovely couple. Wish the White House would release photos of the entire wedding party so we could see all the different colors of the dresses worn by the members of the “house party”. And a photo of Jenna’s grandparents would be nice, too.
Pictures are great! She looks very cute and happy. I wonder how much was spent on the wedding, not as much as some of the “big celebs” out there. Maybe this one will last. becasue of that.

Well, the Bushes never pretended to be the Kennedys. They’re their own family, obviously. I think they’re happy not to be the Kennedys, with all the tragedy that that family has endured. And really - it was Jackie who brought the elegance and beauty to that family.

Are you people blind? That dress is Oscar de la Renta, which means it cost a fortune and should make her look amazing. Not cute, sweet, or so happy, but absolutely, gorgeously amazing. Frankly, the designer is a bit too mature of her (doesn’t Laura Bush keep turning up in de la Renta beaded numbers?).
Tell the truth. The bride is a bit on the chunky side for a girl her age, and her husband looks like a chipmunk. Her father is the worst thing that ever happened to the United States.

Where did you see a guest list? It is very clear that with only 200 invited guests, leaders of other countries had no reason to be insulted because none of them were invited. This was a private family wedding just as the bride wished. Jenna is not in politics and had no reason to have a huge public wedding. Good on her for having the kind of wedding day that she and her new husband wanted. She has said that the home in Crawford has much more meaning to her than the White House does — she never has lived in the White House!

I’m adult enough to be able to separate my politics from situations that really have nothing to do with how I vote or don’t vote, and so it’s quite easy for me to celebrate what seems to have been a truly lovely moment in time for the Bush family.

Jenna has not worked in at least a year, if not longer. Exactly what does being a liberal have to do with a teaching certificate? It is simply a government requirement that teachers in all the states’ public schools have one. I didn’t make that rule. Have you been to a charter hospital lately where the doctors are not required to be licensed to practice? A charter dentist? A charter stock broker? An untrained electrician or plumber? What do you do all day? Read blogs?
Anne, I can tell you what I do. I am running a business with my husband which means giving jobs to 40 people, feeding and insuring their families and I do not associate with people like you.
