I am really hoping that they have major major major security at Cannes. Remember that idiot fan at Venice who jumped Brad? Angie needs to be totally surrounded by BGs at all times in Cannes. She is too far along in her pregnancy to get pushed/pulled/shoved.

I think we’ll see Mickey at Cannes. At least I hope we do. Mickey will make sure nobody gets anywhere near Angie. I don’t think Brad will go to the press cons with her, so I figure Mickey will get called in for that. Then they’ll probably both go to the premiere of both KFP and Changeling.

I think in Cannes the set up is different. Remember the red carpet is like a square and only credentialed photographers are on the carpet, not paps. But these are not the coveted pix. Everyone will have pictures of the red carpet that’s not a big deal. Plus there are press conferences, photocalls, etc…The fact that Angelina is pregnant may limit her mobility not personally but on the advice of handlers. . She may just stand with her co-stars and wave. it’s not about her. only. It will be more organized. Now Venice, is another story…It was where that fan grabbed Brad so this year, they will probably go a different route. Do you think Brad will be there? According to some, either Angelina is about to give birth next month or by September.

The fortunes of Hollywood actor Tom Cruise have suffered a blow with the news that his next big film has been postponed until 2009.

The release of Valkyrie, which tells the story of the 1944 assassination plot against Hitler, was first postponed from this summer to the autumn and is now not expected to appear until next year.

“We were originally expecting the film to be released in June,” said a senior executive at one of Britain’s leading cinema chains.

“I know there have been all sorts of problems with this production and we will not be screening it at all this year.”

The film is not only a blow to Cruise as an actor but in his more recent incarnation as a movie mogul at United Artists (UA), the studio which made the film.

One critic in Hollywood has declared “Valkyrie is dead”, with another arguing that the film’s problems could also wreck the revival of UA.

Cruise, whose earlier career saw hit after hit with Top Gun, Rain Man and Jerry Maguire, is a stakeholder in UA, which was originally founded by Charlie Chaplin and other stars.

It has since passed through several different owners until Cruise relaunched it as a major studio in 2006.

It is said that this is why Tom has been making nice with Sumner Redstone and Paramount to make MI4. I hope it does not get made, or if it does it goes back to the tv format of a team.

Rumor: Brad Pitt in the Running for Thor?

As much as I don’t like posting rumors, the overwhelming response to Matthew McConaughey as Captain America has convinced me that it might be “fun” to run this one, too. I’m pretty sure I don’t believe this rumor for a second, like Marvel is just teasing us for the sake of building up some early buzz, but then again, who really knows? Our amigos over at Latino Review are reporting that Brad Pitt is one of the big names in the running for the role of Thor. No contracts have been signed, but it seems Marvel has their eyes set on Pitt as the hammer wielding Norse god of thunder.

As a refresher, Marvel announced last week their line-up through 2011, which not only included The Avengers, but also Thor in June of 2010. Originally Matthew Vaughn was attached to write and direct, but his contract ended in December. Although he could feasibly be brought back on, current speculation is that Marvel is searching for someone else to direct the adaptation. Mark Protosevich, of I Am Legend and Poseidon, recently finish a new draft of the screenplay for Thor which Marvel is currently trimming down to fit into their budget. Rumors were that Vaughn’s original idea was to set it in the time of the Vikings, but that wouldn’t work with Marvel’s plan to bring all of the superheros together in The Avengers in 2011.

In the Marvel universe, Thor was originally introduced in typical Norse mythology fashion, but as part of the modern Marvel universe and eventually The Avengers. He was first introduced in 1962 as created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, and Jack Kirby, the same three who would go on to create Iron Man the following year. Thor wields the mystical hammer Mjolnir and can control the weather as well as kick plenty of ass. In the Marvel announcement last week, it was mentioned that Thor would first be introduced in Iron Man 2, in some way, before going on to get his own movie.

We all know Brad Pitt and his acting abilities, but is he capable of handling a superhero character? The reference I hear the most when discussing this rumor is his performance as Achilles in Troy. Pitt does have the look and does have the strength, so I’d say he is much better fit than Matthew McConaughey as Captain America. But I still don’t believe someone as well-known and powerful as Pitt would take on a cheesy superhero like Thor. Maybe I’m wrong? What do you think?
