Celebs Speak Out on Same-Sex Marriage Ruling
Celebrities are speaking out on the decision by the California Supreme Court to overturn the state’s ban on same-sex marriage. Here are just what a few of the he movers and shakers of the LGBT community had to say:
Ellen Degeneres: “I’m thrilled that the California supreme court overturned the ban on gay marriage. I can’t wait to get married. We all deserve the same rights, and I believe that someday we’ll look back on this and not allowing gays to marry will seem as absurd as not allowing women to vote. P.S. I’m registered at Crate & Barrel.”
T.R. Knight: “Our ‘certain inalienable rights’ are protected today. It makes me proud to live in a country that works to correct its sins.”
Melissa Etheridge: “I feel they have made an honest woman of me. What a wonderful blessing for us and the gay community. We’re moving forward. It makes me feel happy for the whole human race that we are finally getting out of our differences and coming together and we are putting this all behind us.”
Chad Allen: “I have to say I was completely shocked at the level of emotion of my own reaction. It’s not that I didn’t care, it’s just that I didn’t know that I cared that much… I’m thinking about getting married. I am in love with my partner, deeply madly in love with him, and though I am not ready to propose yet, it is in there.”

I do not support gay marrige and i’m deeply saden it passed.
:(
I personally think this shouldn’t have passed.
I agree with #14, & # 17 who cares if your dog is screwed up. Last time I checked people are a little brighter than your average dog.(especially yours, apparantly.) I don’t care how anyone spins it, it is not natural. You can say it through religion, or just through basic science. The point to sex is to pro-create, and until all you men out there that are putting it to other men manage to get pregnant through your butt, there is nothing useful or right about it! Sex was created for one thing and one thing only, not for you sadly confused people to screw up and now make legal. If there is a God good luck to you, because I can’t see him standing for this kind of crap for too long. Most of us have been just waiting for California to break off and float away for ages now. If only it would happen soon and take all you flamers with it.
Being gay is bad enough, next men will start having babies, already one pregant transgender was in the media, i wonder what this world is coming to?
i am soo happy i am not gay but we should treat everyone equal and if the straights could get married so can gay cali made a good decision

April, you are WRONG. The point of sex is NOT to procreate, not in humans anyway. We are the only animals on earth who don’t have a “season”, who can have sex anytime of the year, and have sex when we are not in a fertile cycle, and as a means of expression toward each other.
No, that person’s dog is not screwed up. The same percentage of homosexuality is seen in animals as in humans. Get over it. The only reason people are upset by it is they know what sex acts gay people do. Guess what — straight people do those things, too, only you don’t obsess over what your neighbors are doing! It’s people repressed sexually who have problems with homosexuals, because they are obsessed with the sex act.
The last time I checked, you people using the Bible to justify your own twisted hangups, not being gay wasn’t one of the Ten Commandments.
Murderers can marry, but someone who is in love with someone of the same gender is considered a sinner and unable to marry?
Heteros have screwed up marriage and raising children to the point where many don’t want to marry or have kids. The true ‘family values” group seems to be the gays, and yet the people espousing “family values” don’t want kids to find loving homes or people to commit to a loving partnership for life. Funny, huh? How hypocritical.
You can’t pick and choose what you want to follow. I did not write this, just passing it along…
Dear Dr. Laura,
Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God’s Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and I try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind him that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states homosexuality to be an abomination. End of debate.
I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the specific laws and how to best follow them.
a) When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord (Lev 1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
b) I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
c) I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev 15:19-24). The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.
d) Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can’t I own Canadians?
e) I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?
f) A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an Abomination (Lev 11:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don’t agree. Can you settle this?
g) Lev 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?
h) Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev 19:27. How should they die?
i) I know from Lev 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
j) My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? (Lev 24:10-16) Couldn’t we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)
I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help.
Thank you again for reminding us that God’s word is eternal and unchanging.
Religious brainwashed idiots… Mind your own business and let people be happy. Stop trying to impose your foolish beliefs.

haha only a few crazies in this post–i expected more.
#35, don’t forget, atheists can marry too…even though its a “religious institution”…
you guys can quote the bible all you want, but remember:
#1 Its not my bible
#2 God didn’t write the bible, man did
you cannot force your religious beliefs on others and i feel sorry for you god fearing bible thumpers who do, you forget your place as americans (those of you who are american) to allow others to live their lives and follow their own beliefs.
just remember:
GOD IS THE ONLY ONE WITH THE POWER TO JUDGE
Separation of Church and State. Religion should not be the determining factor for laws!
I’m so happy it passed!!! =)
#36, i would like to point out that you’re absolutely right, you can’t pick and choose what you want to follow…and yet heterosexuals have been doing that for years.
the bible says its wrong to get divorced…but people still do it. the bible says its wrong to have an affair and cheat on your spouse…but people still do it….the bible says its wrong to have premarital sex….but people still do it…..why is it that heterosexuals are more judgmental towards the sin of homosexuality than every other sin that heteros make every single day of their lives?
You people pick and choose which of God’s laws you want to follow look away when you choose and attack who you choose for breaking these laws.
No one here is perfect, we are all sinners in God’s eyes, so what makes you think your sins are better than mine? Or that you’ll get into heaven after having premarital sex but I won’t get into heaven for being gay? Even though some would argue I had no choice in the matter, while you choose to sin. So who will get to Heaven first?
even if i was instilled with a strong religion, which doesnt mean i dont believe in god, i would still support this.
its simple really: people are people.
no matter what race, gender, sexual preference, hair color, body type, etc.
im glad this passed, glad to be in this state, and hope it stays.
@ 14
You sound so middle-age. It’s scary!!
If people can be happy by getting married… so am I.
It would be nice if everybody respect others conception of life…
I am very happy for the gay community. They have the right to enjoy married life as anyone else. And I think they will be better at it than us so called straight people most of whom seem to be going astray with other straights too often and break the ties.
#36. I know you didn’t write it, but thank you so much for posting it. That made my day. It’s too true that people not only pick and choose what to believe from the bible, but that they are convinced that those that they chose to follow are the absolute. How do they know that they’ve picked the exact right rules to follow? They don’t. They just pick the ones most convenient to them, and then force them on everyone.
And for #’s 14, 28, and others who share that belief: You’d think that with everything everyone has written that you’d be convinced. That your side is being refuted by facts and modern-day examples while you’re just being stubborn, saying, “NO! I don’t wanna!” and expecting everyone to agree with you. But you contunue to force this on other people as if you actually have a decent argument.
Agree with #42.
I am so happy for the gay community. It makes me proud to live in California.
As for all the other brainwashed religious followers ..this is exactly why I chose to turn away from the Catholic and Christian religion. The fact that they are so judgemental and so convinced in everything the bible tells them. What about “thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself” ?
Gay people should absolutely have this right. If they are just living their life without dangering anyone else, who am I to tell them who they should marry and how they should live their life?
I sure as hell wouldnt want anyone telling me how to live mine.
I think all you who are judging the gay community by calling them sinful need to stop judging their life choices. You call it a sin, but aren’t your absolute judgments a sin as well? Who are you to decide what is acceptable and not? Take a step back and look at what you are doing.
Religion wise right or wrong, good or bad, natural or unnatural - it is good for the law to see past hypocrisy and biasness and give 2 consenting adults of the same sex the right to enter into matrimonial torture like all other heterosexual couples… I mean matrimonial bliss. This would mean more fees and work for divorce lawyers which is a boom to the economy I suppose.
