Justin Chatwin as Goku in Dragonball — FIRST PICTURE

Here’s the first clear (possibly) official photo of Justin Chatwin as anime hero Goku from the upcoming Dragonball live-action film.

Also pictured: Emmy Rossum as Bulma, whose father’s Dragon Ball is stolen by Piccolo (James Marsters).

Jamie Chung of Real World: San Diego fame is also pictured below. She plays Chi Chi, the lifelong love interest of Goku.

Dragonball has the tentative release date of April 8, 2009.

why do i have a feeling that this is gonna be another “speed racer”?

for the love of japan, leave their animes alone… especially the iconic ones like this. they’re already great as they are. making the characters human is unrealistic and just plain weird (justin chatwin looks electrocuted– looks good in anime characters, eek in real-life).

Since DB is a JAPANESE anime, and the characters are clearly A Japanese/Chinese hybrid why are the majority of actors white?! Justin is a cute kid, but *he’s* Go ku?! Goh ku. A white guy named Goh ku? Gimme me a break. And why did they keep Chi Chi Asian then? Makes no goddamm sense. LEAVE OUR CARTOONS ALONE WHITE AMERICA.

This movie will FLOP!

Out of all the ppl they got this tool to play goku. Guku has muscles and tool-boy has none. Look at the hair hahaha this is going to be bad - hilariously bad.

They should have taken some one like Jet Li, or some well built asian actor for this. Why would you use that geeky looking runt? I mean, that guy is great at playing roles of victims and abused beat up kids, not super-powered sayans. I mean look at him, he looks like a toothpick. It seems like, if the wind blows, he will fly off like a piece of silk, let alone take a roundhouse kick to the face from a villan LOL!!!
