Justin Chatwin as Goku in Dragonball — FIRST PICTURE
Here’s the first clear (possibly) official photo of Justin Chatwin as anime hero Goku from the upcoming Dragonball live-action film.
Also pictured: Emmy Rossum as Bulma, whose father’s Dragon Ball is stolen by Piccolo (James Marsters).
Jamie Chung of Real World: San Diego fame is also pictured below. She plays Chi Chi, the lifelong love interest of Goku.
Dragonball has the tentative release date of April 8, 2009.

let’s face it, we’re the new “blackface” of the movie industry. And notice that the leading lady/love interest gets to be Asian…why not the reverse?
Umm I read in an interview with the creator that Goku is supposed to look white and technically hes not Japanese either hes a freakin alien, so get over the whole “he should be asian!” but hey i’m not obsessed with it as much as you guys are. and if they did use an all asian cast and make bulma have her blue hair you would all complain how they don’t look anything like the characters or say it looks like some stupid kiddy movie. heck if it were all white people with blue hair it would look stupid. some things only look good in animation. hopefully it won’t be a flop and they will do a good job like they did with transformers.
i am so tired of everyone complaining about these things, if it bothers you so much don’t watch it, then maybe if it doesn’t make at least what it took to make the film they will stop turning anime into live action american movies. but all of you who are complaining probably will watch it and be the first ones in line to see it.
I think this movie is going to suck. Hollywood should leave The Dragonball Universe alone.It’s good just the way it is.

What a poor ass casting decision for Goku. He looks like an emo white high schooler instead of the small asian looking boy that Goku is during Dragonball. The character Goku and his story from Dragonball are actually based on a classic Chinese fairytale, in which elements like the flying cloud and that pig character are iconic. This is an absurd bastardization of Dragonball.
Somehow i just don’t see this working.
For those who say you should like the movie no matter what because it’s Dragonball and thats what a ‘real’ fan would do… get over yourselves. I love the Dragponball Manga and Anime but im not fond of a number of even the animated movies or Dragonball GT much. Does that make me any less of a fan? Not in the slightest, they weren’t created by Akira Toriyama and neither was this. It’s simply expensive fan-fiction.
The one line ive heard of Goku so far is; “Im not ready for this…”
Since when did Goku say things like that? He is the ultimate optimist and i can’t see this film showing the Goku we know and love, with his incredible appetite, martial art ambition and confidence to go along with his childlike innocence and intelligence.
Il go see it in the cinema and hope im pleasentaly suprised, but il not be holding my breath and go in with very low expectations.

Wathed the trailer, I wish I could unwatch it…. it was so terrible, stick boy as goku! I predict this one will go straight to dvd….no theaters or blu ray its not good enough for HD. I’ve seen better film on teeth
ARe you seriuos? This punks goku? Jesus christ I thought Kristin Krunk being half asian playing chung-li was ok, but this pasty pale mofo playing GOKU! LMAO are they serious? WTF are they smoking Yeah i’m pirating this movie and LMAO at the horrible anime remake of DB this is the stupidest thing i’ve ever seen. I wouldn’t even care if it wasn’t an asian lead, but at least make him look like goku, spiking his gay hair up, throwing spike as picolo, this is the stupidest thing EVER since prez bush became president.
