i haven’t even seen the show yet ..i’m on the west coast. but i know it’s already going to be tough.. they’re both sooo good! i think this season will probly be the closest one out of all of the seasons.. if you think about within each season you kinda knew or slanted towards who you knew would win .. but this one is completely unpredictable.

actually archuleta has been the most consistent he started the season with a bang, and cook has had some really good performances and hes had a few really bad performances. So its honestly a toss up on whos gonna win.

My next neighbor walked in while we were watching American Idol. She has never seen this season before. David Cook was singing, and she was so impressed with him that she sat down and watched his performance. Then David A. came on. She looked at me and asked, “Is this a joke?” When I told her “No”; she said that David A wasn’t even in the same class as David Cook and that David A was boring. She basically said exactly what my husband and I were thinking. David Cook’s songs were more diverse and more challenging vocally. Loved David Cook tonight.

Don’t watch this show, ever, I went to the taping, i got there at 10 am, and they said wed get in, so I waited till 4:30 and they still didnt get like 500 people in, and we waited the whole day after saying people would get in, and they still had like 2000 seats left but didnt let people in. so people rioted and cops came and ya. dont watch teh show. fox and american idol producers are nothing but bullshit.

Archuleta is Sweet but boring. Cook rocks! I agree with nighgoddess. He takes more risks and changes it up a bit. He is entertaining to watch. I am so disappointed in what the judges said tonight about Cook. He is soooo much more than that!

These are people who no one would know about without the show and have gone on to be successful. I would say that this year David Cook is the real “find” of the bunch. No one would really know about him without this show. David Archuletta is almost a pro with all his talent show appearances and pushing from his father, who is a musician and therefore has contacts in the industry already. By making the top 2, I’d say they are both winners.

David Archuleta is the most marketable, because he appeals to all ages. Whereas Cook, even though I like him quite a bit, has more of a young adult sound. He sounds like your typical good rocker. Cook will be very successful, but David Archuleta will beat him hands down. As Simon said he knocked Cook out.

let me ask a question here about american idol. The media is claiming that american idol keeps gaining popularity. However the media owns American Idol, IE. fox owns the media and american idol, so can you really trust what we’re being told about this show. Hasn’t american idol had it’s day and isn’t it time for a new show? I don’t believe for one second this show is gaining anything, other then the media outlets blowing up it’s ratings so that people say, boy I should watch this.

ppl say that the only reason why david A is still here is bc hes popular and cute. even if he was that, he wouldn’t be in the top 2 for just those two reasons. if you are in the top 2, you really deserve to be there, and both davids are talented. i really like both, and at first i thought david Cook would win but after tonites show david archuleta was amazing. Archuleta .. AMAZING! his voice is incredible .. and he definitley got the praises from the judges .. Simon Cowell is really influential the fact that he basically said he won the night is going to influence a lot of people.. Here’s the problem with David A though.. As great of a singer he is .. He doesn’t look like a star.. he doesn’t look CONFIDENT as Cook does.. He looks like a kid who’s just living his dream .. which he is .. BUT an American Idol has to be the whole package.. He’s got the voice down.. the cuteness down .. the girls screaming fan base down.. BUT just think of how he’ll present himself in interviews.. He stumbles over his words a lot .. He has to act more like a Star you know?
David Cook .. i actually really really liked him.. In my opinion i can definitley see Cook in the industry right now … He’s got his identity already .. We know he’s the rocker guy .. and He pulls it off really well .. Tonight he could’ve chosen better songs to get Simon to go a long with him .. I totally expected Cook to win the night, because of his maturity and great rock talent. But Amazingly Archuleta was not intimidated. He held his ground, didn’t give an inch, and stood out as the phenomenal winner tonight! His talent and beautiful vocal ability seemed to explode with each song in a brilliant performance.
I am in my late 50’s. Several of my friends have expressed how captivating this particular season has been and that they , too, have become Archuleta fans. Never before this season have I voted. But I have felt to support this unusually gifted young man with my votes. It was a stunning finish to a great season. What a pleasure to witness how mature and professional Archuleta’s performances were this evening. He definitely deserves to win the title of Amercan Idol!

I have to say that David Archuleta did very well tonight. But at this point in the competition, no one will be changing who they are voting for or who their favorites are because of these performances.
I have to say that David Cook is more marketable. On the big name radio stations, they will most likely play Cook’s songs than Archuleta’s ballads. He doesn’t really seem to change to mainstream modern music very well. Remember his “With You” cover by Chris Brown last week? Not the best.
And some of you are fighting over “Archuleta only does ballads” and “Cook only does rock songs.” The thing is Cook was able to change songs that weren’t rock into his style successfully (”Always Be My Baby). Archuleta not so much.
I did start out as a David Archuleta fan… but now I am all about DAVID COOK!!!
If David Cook wins… I’m going to buy his album the day it comes out. If David Archuleta wins… I’m still going to buy David Cook’s album the day it comes out.

David Archuleta sings nothing but wimpy ballads, whereas DC can sing both ballads and rock songs. Can Archie do that ? I don’t think so, he just tries to play it safe, like when he sang “Imagine”. Both of them are going to do great in their lives they are good and very different. Archuleta showed to everybody that he has an amazing unique voice, and he did sing like a pro. They both did a good job.

Doesn’t really matter. Number 1 and Number 2 always end up with a record deal. It just depends on what they make of themselves once he/she is signed.
It’s very obvious that Cook ONLY sings rock, but um…does’t Jagger only sing rock’n'roll? Doesn’t Roger Daltrey sing rock?
The thing is, ballads NON STOP is boring! Its repetitive because so many ballads sound the same.

Both Davids are good in their own genres. I personally prefer Cook as he is more versatile but you can’t fault Archuleta as he is such a cutey pie, mothers and grannies want to mother him whilst the young ones idolise him. Cook has that kind of a more mature appeal and he is good to look at and his voice singing a song from phantom of the opera was to die for. Would love to vote but I’m not in the States and good luck to both. It could go either way, neither has been in the botom three. Anyway, both are guaranteed success.
