Jake Gyllenhaal is the Prince of Persia
Jake Gyllenhaal has been crowned the Prince of Persia!
The 27-year-old actor and Gemma Arterton, who stars in the new James Bond film, will take the lead roles in the fantasy adventure, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which starts production in July.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Gyllenhaal will play Dastan, a young prince in sixth century Persia who must join forces with Tamina (Arterton), a feisty and exotic princess, to prevent a villainous nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.”
Last month, it was reported that Orlando Bloom would take on the role.

Ben Barnes is a crummy actor and hes just another hollywood heartthrob that will be forgotten. And hes white and pasty. Are you kidding me hes an ugly actor and he ruined prince caspian for me.
YOU guys are all STUPID, I had a persian friend ,in high school, and he looked white in fact everyone thought he was white, jake is well suited for this role! i cant wait till the movie comes out!
oh and by the way , my persian friend had a sister! damn she is FINE AS hell!!

IOrlando and Colin are OK, but are not half as talented or gorgeous as Jake. I think the casting is inspired and I will see this movie.

not so fast! These movies don’t always work.
Jake seems to goofy or silly to be believable as a game icon. Honestly they would have been better going with an unknown and spending the money on special effects and making the movie awesome.

I am sorry, as for good looking I think colin farrell is ugly. I would rather have someone erotic as ben or orlando But we will see. and by the way I just saw narnia today and Ben was gorgeous in it.
is so laughable show me any iranian guy who looks like jake , you won’t find one, he doesn’t look like iranian, his facial bone structures are so heavy , not a good looking face ( by the way iranians are from white race) .for the iranian prince.
and i have seen some of jakes movies, he is not a good actor at all , so if he doesn’t look like iranian and not a good actor either , why would they want him to play the role, honestly , as an iranian point of view it would be an insult to an iranian prince.
and of those three as an irianian i would say colin would be a better choice for the part, if they want it a more believable charactor.
Persians look exotic, sorry but jake doesnt look exotic at all, i hope the makeup artist will make him lool persian!!!
Silly people who think they know what “Persians” (Iranians) all look like. They look as different from each other as do Americans. The President of Iran does rather resemble Jake when Jake lets his beard cover most of his face. Jake looks just as “Persian” as Bloom. Sean Connery could be Persian too. So could lots of other Hollyweird stars. A blue eyed blond would probably not be convincing as a Persian. But Jakes is not one. If he has blue eyes, they come from tinted contacts. LOL.
I wonder if his friendship with Witherspoon has influenced him into taking this role. She might have encouraged him to do a movie that would earn some real money. Stop being so artsy-fartsy about roles and go for the money, the moolah, the way she does.
I think that Disney will be sorry that they couldn’t tempt Orlando back to a costume adventure movie.
If they had to cast a white guy, Orlando would make a much better Prince, IMO. He is more exotic looking, athletic, handsome, and has experience in both sword choreography and special effects. Jake just isn’t right for the role. Persians may be white, but they aren’t white bread. Now if they made a movie called Prince of Peoria….

you sound so rediclous, the iranian president is not a prince, this movie is based on iranian prince years , and years ago , prince is not like what it is now, and the iranian prince didn’t look like that years ago , you’re so , confuesed, and mixing the issues.
