Jake Gyllenhaal is the Prince of Persia
Jake Gyllenhaal has been crowned the Prince of Persia!
The 27-year-old actor and Gemma Arterton, who stars in the new James Bond film, will take the lead roles in the fantasy adventure, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which starts production in July.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Gyllenhaal will play Dastan, a young prince in sixth century Persia who must join forces with Tamina (Arterton), a feisty and exotic princess, to prevent a villainous nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.”
Last month, it was reported that Orlando Bloom would take on the role.

I think there is nothing wrong with Jake being in this movie. He is a great actor, good looking and could make this a really cool movie.

The phrase “white bread” refers to people or things that are so associated with the Anglo Saxon race in America that they have become cliche. Serving Grape Nehi soda and egg salad sandwiches at a Sunday afternoon picnic would be considered “white bread”. Persians may be white, but there is no way in hell that they could POSSIBLY be “white bread”.
So anyone who disagrees with you is stupid?
IMO, Jake is TOTALLY wrong for this movie. The only way that they could have made a worse decision would be to have signed Zac Effron for the role. I agree with some of the other posters. Orlando would have been a much better choice.
Thanks God Orlando is out! Jake is much more talented than Bloom. It seems Disney realized this fact! See Pirates, Johnny Depp stole the scene! Who´s Orlando???

I was referring to Miranda. Every story for months has been linked to Miranda. If you type a search in for Bloom, you get Mirandas face up there. I’m not a big Jake fan, but man! I’d much rather see his face pop up when searching for Bloom stories! LOL! Gosh - even a little “Brokeback” with those two would be better than Kerr.
Orlando was never in. He would have been a much better choice, but he probably couldn’t be persuaded to pick up another sword. I bet he was Jerry’s first choice though.
And even though this will be a fantasy adventure, the fantasy shouldn’t have to start with the believability of the lead character.

I do agree with what you said though about not wanting to see her face pop up if I search for information about him.

jake is perfect for playing a role of incredible huck not a prince, let alone persian prince. horrible mistake, his face is too ugly for a prince.
I’ll bet money this movie bombs at the box office too. Jake has totally lost his appeal ever since he hooked up with Reese. I think people have grown tired of him and don’t take him seriously anymore. Time to move onto someone else.

we are talking about persian prince, in years and years ago in persia , correct that persian guys are good looking and exotic ( and now days they tan themselves , not years ago) but we are not talking about regular guys , we are talking about a prince, a persian prince is not dark , and not with facial feature like jake, his nose is to wide how do they make his nose look smaller, they can’t . his lips are too tin how do they fix that. his eyes are too small how do they make them big and beautiful like a persian prince’s eyes , they can’t . he’s not the right guy for this role, are they making a movie about an ugly prince , then they should not call it , a persian prince.this movie is going to be a disaster.

Well, I don’t know about HW, but surely they can twist everything they want to.
First of all, there is no gods in Persian, they had what they called daēva, or bright/celestial and Ahriman, the evil part. But they had/have the first monotheism: Zoroaster/Zarathrusta!
The question only, when this so called Prince of Persia took place!
But, if they could cast Rodrigo Santoro (Brazilian) for Xerxes (Persian), they surely can cast Jake as a Persian!
Jake is a good actor, he will be able to pull this character.!
A man of Hispanic or Latin heritage is a much better choice to play a Persian than a guy that looks like jake.

Jake is fake, again hollywood got it wrong
You know that Persian (Iranic peoples) spread across the Iranian plateau, it means from Hindu Kush to central Anatolia (Turkey) and from Central Asia to Persian Gulf. The Native people of Iran are White Caucasian, but one tribe who also lived there was Jew. So, Jake is a mixed between White Caucasian and Jewish (according to the Jewish Religion, he is a Jew, since his mother is a Jew), which is it, which does not fit?
Like I said, it depends on what time this film took place. If it took time before the Zoroaster Religion conquered Persia, then I have to correct myself, before the Ahura Mazda is angry with me, they had gods or what they called daēva (according to Zoroaster it means: they who do not deserve to be worshiped/ fake gods).
And with ton of make up, EVERYTHING can be changed!
Since I am not a Jew, may be any of you who are Jew, can explain more about the Tribes of Yissachar and Zevulun, who lived beyond Mt. Haran, who were ruled over by the kings of Mede and Persia. These two tribes spoke Persian and Hebrew. And they lived definitely in Persia!
