Jake Gyllenhaal is the Prince of Persia
Jake Gyllenhaal has been crowned the Prince of Persia!
The 27-year-old actor and Gemma Arterton, who stars in the new James Bond film, will take the lead roles in the fantasy adventure, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which starts production in July.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Gyllenhaal will play Dastan, a young prince in sixth century Persia who must join forces with Tamina (Arterton), a feisty and exotic princess, to prevent a villainous nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.”
Last month, it was reported that Orlando Bloom would take on the role.

A letter from Ivana or any of the posters here would hit the wastebasket immediately; no director would ever see it. Stop the nonsense. If you think directors pay attention to people like us you are crazy.
Now, BubbleBoy is being shown today on US TV. In some ways Jake lost his way. He was best in the beginning playing the role of a teenager, whether intense (October Sky) or confused (Good Girl; BubbleBoy). Since then only Brokeback has been worth looking at and Ledger was a lot of the reason for that. Jake needs to find a new persona that fits him. Prince of Persia might or might not. He doesn’t convince as a married man, or as an intellectual. He’s best as a nice kid, a confused kid, or as a love smitten gay. Those are the roles that fit him probably because they are more natural for him. (He was very convincing when Ledger would turn his overtures of love down and the pain was palpable).
Speaking of Brokeback, Jake was at his best when, at the beginning of the movie, he let out hints that he was ready for man sex. When he was waiting along with Ledger to see the man who would hire them he pretended to shave himself in a rear view mirror of his truck so that he could watch Ledger undetected. And then he leaned against the truck and stretched out his body languidly and sensually for Ledger to see. He was making it clear he already had a sexual relationship in mind but of course he bided his time and waited for the right moment to make his overt move. I think the reason for the gossip that Jake is gay is that he played a closet gay so very very well.
He may be just a very good actor, or…..he may actually be…..well, you know.

To me Jake is quite good actor, not best, but quite good….
In “Donnie Darko”, he’s performance as schizofrenic teenager was pretty good…..
When i watch his role in “Moonlight Mile”, the way he looks reminds me little bit on Dustin Hoffman in “The Graduate”..
He played a role “Jack Twist”, like he play all his role….Pretty Goood….
I think Jake will make the same mistake my brother made. He’s already chosen a wrong number. Woman who is full of herself. huge ego and wants her man to cater to her. Remember when he had a cast on his leg, hurt it playing basketball. Now you know any doctor would have told him to stay off his feet, but no he had to go shopping with her and instead of seeing to his needs she rushes ahead of him and he is left hobbling after her carrying her bags. Seems she does an awful lot of shopping. I could understand if some of it was for her kids. But no they seem all for her.
He’ll probably knock her up (hopefully he hasn’t already) and I have a feeling before the end of this year they’ll wed
No I don’t want it to happen but living in denial isn’t realistic either. Jake will have to find out for himself if this is a happily ever after situation or not. As for me I no longer am a fan of his. I don’t have the same feelings I had for him this time last year. After the Rome Film Festival and her jumping on his back like a dog in heat, I lost all respect for him.
May he live in interesting times.
Moonlight Mile was a lousy movie, none of the actors were convincing and the story sucked big time. Terrible movie. Jake made a big mistake getting into that one. Other Jake-mistakes were: Jarhead (boring in the extreme), Proof (terrible), Rendition (a bomb), and Zodiac (too long and pointless). I never saw him in Lovely and Amazing so I can’t comment on that one. He needs a movie where he can be himself (a character that takes advantage of his personality), and that MAKES SOME MONEY FOR A CHANGE. He needs movies where he can be sly and funny and charming (as he is in interviews) and sexy as he can pretend to be (as in Brokeback).
PS: bbmfan; hey come off it—you’d jump on him like a dog in heat if you ever got the chance. You are just jealous.
Agree Chris, MM was a lousy movie, but Jake played his role more than correctly, “Zodiac” is boring to death, to long and without sense….
To many directors make lousy movies……
Jake and Reese seems happy, last pictures are pretty cute, she even smiles, his face is like always - priceless…..

All these people in Hollywood can live their lifes but Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal must go out of Hollywood industry because thea aren’t competent.. ..Reese Witherspoon is very old for this profession and there are lot of beautiful actresses in Hollywood and in other countries too…Jake Gyllenhaal must go out too and open a restaurant.
In festival of Cannes was a brazilien as the best actress. She isn’t beautiful but she is competente as actress.

There are people that became old earlier and the other one later. The face of Reese Witherspoon is a old face. When she was younger she had this tendence and with 32 years old this old looks like became worse. There are lot of beautiful actresses and actors in Hollywood at present. Hollywood must update. It is time to Reese Witherspoon be retired and enjoy the millions that she became in Hollywood. Let the others actresses show their talents…

Reese Witherspoon maybe looks old, but if she love to work, i don’t see problem, she is one of million actresses who came in Hollywood every day. What will happen if she go to retirement??

You simply can’t compare european film, with american movies, the first one tell’s the story, and second one served for fun and pleasure… No one knows european actors, because they live ordinary life, but american actors OMG, they are everywhere……

Chris, I saw all the films you mentioned. I think Moonlight Miles was amazing. I cried with Dustin Hoffman. By the way, I am a weeper. So, I cried easily. And Zodiac, I was desperate, just like Jake. Jarhead, I don’t want to watch, as BM. Donnie Darko was okay, since I believe in The Relativity Theory from Einstein (If I can understand it. I have been trying to cope with the theory for years, but still confused. May be you can help me.) Rendition I don’t watch yet, so I can not say.
And I love Bubble Boy. Especially the scene when he had to fight with his lust and try to come little Jake down by doing citation of American Bill of Rights! (What you call it, American Amandment or something?)

Solaris,”Zodiac” is too long, this movie is worth of watching only because of Jake, scenes are too dark, and story has no end….
Rendition is quite good movie, dark too, you must watch him, Jake even have girlfriend LOL, movie has three different story’s, which are connected…
“Moonlight mile” is movie where Jake is simply amazing, i love his style, his hair and his performance. He do remind me on young Dustin Hoffman…
