Good Morning BAMPZSVILLE Land!! Thank you, thank you, Jared!

Postcards from Cannes Chaz Ebert (Roger Ebert’s wife)

Postcard #1
Her new movie struck close to home for Angelina Jolie, visiting Cannes in an advanced stage of pregnancy. “Changeling” is based on the true story of a Los Angeles mother whose son disappears in 1928. Months later a young boy found in DeKalb, Illinois is returned as her son by the LAPD, which needs good press at a time of corruption. Problem is, she insists it’s not her son, but the cops pressure her to raise the boy as her own. When she refuses, they have her held against her will. She and Brad Pitt were toasted by her director, Clint Eastwood, at a late-night dinner Tuesday at the beachfront Hotel Martinez, where Jolie said that being a mother “makes the film more personal, because I cannot imagine a mother not being trusted to know her own child.”

I just had to watch the Standing Ovation video yet again. The red carpet also shows at one point, Clint and Angie just two of them. On top of the stairs Clint looked at Angie’s ANGELIC side profile, and couldn’t help smiling and had to speak to her. It was so sweet, almost like a father looking at his gem. It was also very sweet how Angie was blushing at the ovation, especially towards Brad who looked around seeing the unanimous applauds of the audience, so proud and he also looked very moved. What a formidable debut of the Exchange.

The president of this year’s jury is Sean Penn, who won Cannes’ best actor award for “She’s So Lovely” (1997). More to the point, he also won an Oscar for “Mystic River,” a film directed by Clint Eastwood. Since Clint’s film “Changeling” is screening in competition, Penn was asked at the jury’s press conference if he could be objective. His reply was very colorfully objective: “A lot of people here have close ties to films, and there’s no bias involved. On the other hand if Clint’s movie deserves the prize, we will f****** well reward it.”

” I want Brad to get one ” (Oscar)”because he hasn’t had the official recognition he deserves. ”
====================================

Yeah, I’ve often wondered why, maybe he will now because he’s not playing “the face” or the “body”. It will be these years we will be counting on, he’s only just begun this part of his life.

Thanks anoble for the articles from Roger Ebert’s wife. How awesome it is, that she is there helping him out cause he couldn’t make it to Cannes. I love the story Brad told her. And she did a great job, love reading them. Thanks again

Where Is the standing ovation video?????

Libra 21 @ 05/21/2008 at 8:20 pm (#272): This is quite late but I have to say it. I know most Jolie fans were quite disappointed with her outfit on changeling but the more I see the photos the more I understand why. Did you guys notice the maternal look on the last premiere with Clint? It was all about the movie. While in Kung Fu Panda, she dressed as a young, sexy and carefree way because that is what represents the children, playful and free. She did not really dressed down to divert the attention to Clint, imo, she dressed as the character she portrayed in changeling, as a mother. She really look so maternal but very regal and beautiful in her last premiere.

This is what makes Jolie distinct from the rest of Hollywood actresses. She does not dress according to what fans or people expects her or wants her. She does her things according to what is important and meaningful to her. Overall at the Cannes I was able to see her depthness and substance and the person that she is. This made me love her more and more.

I always lurk here, read and learn more of her from you guys. Many thanks for all the links and beautiful pictures. Also big thanks to you JJ. You are the best

This is a great, great post with a very sensible idea. Exactly what’s on my mind. You just expressed it very well. Libra 21, with your gift of writing in expressing your thoughts, why don’t you write here more often?!

Thanks to simplybrad forum.

comments of fans who just saw the trailer

Quote:
The graphics are amazing, as the trailer is a mini short as we see each of the characters transformations in a very quick manner. The trailers emphasis is obviously on Brad, as we see him transform into a younger man.

The trailer ends with something like

A: “You are so young..”

B:”Only on the outside..”

All in all, in showed what we all expect from this movie.

Alot of romance, looked like some very sad and funny moments as well.

Quote:
Alot of quick shots during the course of the trailer. We start off with a clock moving. We see Brad go through some cycles as an old man, which are extremely well done in my opinion. We see Brad observing himself in the mirror as he ages backwards. In general, this is the astounding aspect of the trailer, and probably the entire movie.

He seems to really enjoy his motorcycle, as he takes off on his motorcycle a few good times in the trailer.

Towards the end of the trailer, we are introduced very breifly to Blanchett. A few scenes show them in love and about to make love. And I believe the final shot in the trailer was a very young Brad meeting an older Blanchett, cue the lines in the OP.

Just in general, this movie looks really good and I’ve been really looking out for it for the longest time. It looks beautiful from every angle, and epic on an emotional scale. Great vibes and its cool I’m one small sample pop

Thanks Meli for comments about TCCOBB. I can’t wait to see the movie.

Same Old Lame Old…you have completely lost your freaking mind. Your paranoia really makes me wonder about your mental health. I think you’re taking this all a bit too seriously.

Clearly, the hilarity escapes you, though it’s obvious to everyone else, that YOU are the one changing names to go on the attack.

Look, there are lots of people who choose not to worship your idols. And it does not mean they are Aniston fans or Paltrow fans or now (for f*ck’s sake) Madonna fans.

I said it once and I’ll say it again:

GET OVER YOURSELF.

Oh…and if somebody posts that freaking standing ovation video ONE MORE TIME…I swear I will blow chunks into Brad’s fedora.

Ok, I know it way way way early in terms of awards nominations, but let put it out there just for the fun of it to see who are Angie’s main competiors. I’d list Nicole Kidman in Australia, Kate Winslet in Revolutionary Road. These are the only 2 that comes to my mind right now, but maybe other JJ fans can chime in a few more names.
