I don’t think Paris Match is reliable. They have made up stuff before though this is in line with what Brad said last year. They might go even higher than that.

Want to see the movie trailer for David Fincher’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button? I’ve heard it’s playing in front of most prints of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. And word has it that the trailer won’t show up online in official form until the end of next week. International trailer below:

So if you haven’t seen Indiana Jones 4, you might now have a reason. From what I understand the majority of the trailer has no dialogue and is almost completely cut to music (I’m being told that it uses “Aquarium” section of “The Carnival of the Animals” by the composer Saint-Saëns). Alex Billington of FirstShowing saw the trailer and is already calling the movie “next year’s Best Picture.”

“At my local theater nearby, I’ve gone in and watched this trailer four times just to bask in its brilliance, writes Billington. “I wouldn’t be hard-pressed to call it potentially a masterpiece. The music in the trailer is really what makes it extraordinary. It’s one of the most emotional, thrilling, and tragic trailers I’ve seen that encapsulates the entire story in itself. … I haven’t been this affected since I saw the trailer for Zack Snyder’s 300 back in at Comic-Con in 2006.”

Sure, Mr. Billington tends to get excited easily, but I’ve gotten a bunch of emails from readers and friends who were also taken away by the surprise trailer. One reader named Andy actually sent us an email about the trailer from his screening. Here are some other reactions:

LiquidFilmmaking: Even if [Indy 4] sucked that is one of the best trailers I’ve seen. It’s up there with the Thin Red Line trailer or the Episode 1 trailer, at least for me.

HurtsLikeHellFire: Freaking sweet! Great trailer. The fx look worth the long wait. And what beautiful music. I almost didn’t notice it I was so engrossed with the images.

I’m very excited about this film. Fincher’s Fight Club is one of my all time favorites. Panic Room felt more like a pointless clinical cinematic experiment than anything else, and Zodiac was probably one of the best films of last year films, bad sadly mis-marketed and underrated. Academy Award winner Eric Roth also wrote the screenplays for Forrest Gump, The Horse Whisperer, and Munich. But what is Benjamin Button about? I’ve included the official plot synopsis below

“I was born under unusual circumstances.” And so begins “Benjamin Button,” adapted from the classic 1920s story by F. Scott Fitzgerald about a man who is born in his eighties and ages backwards. A man, like any of us, unable to stop time. We follow his story set in New Orleans from the end of World War I in 1918, into the twenty-first century, following his journey that is as unusual as any man’s life can be. Directed by David Fincher and starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett with Tilda Swinton, Taraji P. The trailer is beautiful and the music too - and I’m not sure but this movie looks like it’s going to be tearjerker - not my favorite type of movie to see at the theater but b/c it’s Brad I’m going to go see it.

Paris match is very reliable. My mom had a subscription so I’ve been reading it since i learned to read and before that i’d look at the pictures. They cover everything from entertainment to politics to world news. They’re not a tab, they’re legit.

IIRC There was some stuff in Paris Match when they were pregnant with Shiloh or they just had Shiloh that turned out to be wrong. There also was a so called interview that seemed like it was a compilation of previous made quotes elsewhere. So it will be interesting if there is an actual interview with new stuff. ALSO, i wonder if Brad literally meant 8 or was stuff lost in translation.

The more I read online comments raving about this trailer, the more excited I want to see this movie. December is so far away, but as they say good things to come for those who waited. In the mean time, I’ll have to settle with Kung Fu Panda and Wanted. As I said before, I have a feeling that this is the year of Brad and Angie. Their movies have already gaining favorable buzzes!!!!!!!!!

Eagle Eye played though, and I thought both that and Curious Case trailers were being premiered together with Indy 4. Guess not, at least for the UK.

TomC is sending legal notices to that exclusive baby shop in LA that all the stars shop at for telling a tab how much they spendt on Suri’s clothers, like $400,000.00. That is an unbelievable amount to spend on clothes for a child that was just 2 in April.

Very interesting movie and most entertaining comments from everybody. I am a Brangie fan and I just noticed that someone here has a wild imagination. Someone posted “Brad and Cate are in love” which will make a good tabloid story, but please Cate just gave birth to her third son, when interviewed by Jay Leno, she mentioned her love for her husband and kids come first. She is in two movies with Brad, one with Angelina. She is a versatile actress and a friend of the JoliePitts. Please do not feed the tabloids more material than they can imagine. They have way too much imagination. When you listen to Brad’s old interviews at New Orleans, he also mentioned how rewarding being a Dad is. How when you go home, and see the kids lined up to greet you is one of his happiest moment. This man is fulfilled more than anything. And he is proving himself as a real actor in his films. This film will be shown a day after his birthday and I am guessing one of the premiere cities would be New Orleans. Just a guess. Peace!

Westport, Conn. (May 23, 2008) — George Clooney, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt and other leaders of the non-profit group Not On Our Watch inspired hundreds of people to open their wallets this past week to help children in cyclone-affected Myanmar. Save the Children announced today that a $250,000 challenge grant from Not On Our Watch to help with Myanmar cyclone relief and recovery efforts has been matched by other donors less than a week after the challenge was made.

After the announcement of the grant on May 13, donations to the agency’s cyclone relief efforts poured in. The initial matching grant agreement allowed one year for contributions of up to $250,000 to be matched by Not On Our Watch. But it took less than a week for generous donors to meet the goal.

‘We’re delighted to have raised the $250,000 challenge grant so quickly,’ said Charles MacCormack, president and CEO of Save the Children. ‘We are extremely grateful to Not On Our Watch and its founders — Don Cheadle, George Clooney, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, Jerry Weintraub and David Pressman — for sharing their resources and inspiring others to give to help children and families in Myanmar.’

‘We received calls from people who were motivated to give after learning of the challenge grant,’ MacCormack added. ‘It offered people a way to double the value and impact of their contribution to our relief and recovery efforts. As a result, more children in Myanmar will benefit.’

‘It has been a challenge to mobilize sufficient relief operations for victims of the cyclone,’ said Alex Wagner, Executive Director of Not On Our Watch. ‘Despite this fact, Save the Children has been delivering lifesaving aid in the country’s most devastated regions. Not On Our Watch is proud to support these efforts and we encourage others to keep donations coming during this critical period.’

In addition to the challenge grant, Not On Our Watch provided a $250,000 donation to Save the Children’s Myanmar cyclone relief fund. The combined $500,000 donation will allow Save the Children to expand its relief and recovery efforts in Myanmar and distribute more food, water and essential non-food items. Additionally, funds contributed will help support Save the Children’s efforts to restore the education system in Myanmar and help children return to school in early June.

To date, Save the Children has reached 160,632 people in Myanmar (including more than 50,000 children) with food, water, shelter materials, household supplies and oral-rehydration salts to treat diarrhea. Survivors receiving assistance include nearly 90,000 people in the Yangon area, more than 56,000 in the western Delta and more than 15,000 in the country’s eastern Delta region. Save the Children, which has been working in Myanmar for 13 years, has programs in the five most devastated districts.

While assistance is reaching many children and families in need, thousands of lives are still at risk. The cyclone has left more than 1 million people homeless and destroyed thousands of homes and schools. Humanitarian agencies are expressing concern about an impending hungry season, as the rice planting that normally begins in June may be hampered by lack of tools and supplies, as well as by land made less arable by an influx of salt water from the storm surge. Even before the disaster, an estimated 30 percent of children in the region suffered from chronic malnutrition, according to health experts.

Save the Children has raised $4.7 million in donations and pledges in the United States for its Myanmar cyclone response. Save the Children agencies worldwide are seeking $28 million for relief and recovery efforts.

Save the Children, with 500 staff in-country, is one of the largest nongovernmental organizations at work in Myanmar. The agency implements programs focused on early childhood care and development, child survival and child protection.

Hola Hoooooliah lol. So true so true. I cannot wait for this movie! Judging from the trailer, and having read the story, it seems like Fincher is going to stay as close to the original tale as possible. The story is weird, crazy, hilarious, sad, thought provoking, a tearjerker and joyful all at the same time, and if one has an aversion to the deeper things that great cinema has to offer, and especially the type of filmaking/storytelling/character studies that Fincher delivers, then they will probably not like it.

You obviously don’t know about the acting business. Sometimes there are acting “cliques” that always work together. Look at the Seth Rogan/ Judd Apatow clique, look at the Damon/Clooney/Pitt/Affleck (Casey & Ben) clique, Deniro/Pacino/Scorsese clique, then some cliques form sub cliques like DiCaprio/Scorsese and everyone/Cate Blanchet lol!!! oh and Tyler Perry and Tyler Perry lol!!!!all of this is fluid though and the cliques break off to work with some people they have never worked with before. Even Tyler Perry had to take a break from himself for a role he’s playing in the next Star Trek film.

Honestly, it may do poorly at the box office. But I think the studios are actually somewhat prepared for that. They’ve been trying to get this film made for YEARS. It’s been a pet project for a LOT of people, and I think the studio knows it’s probably not going to make them a lot of money, but it WILL bring them prestige, and it is a great film to have on anyone’s resume. People who talk “bomb” about movies that are clearly not expected to be box office hits, just prove how stupid they are. Trust me, anyone would be happier having this on their resume than crap like Made of Honor or P.S. I Love You.

At the party, which featured tents on the lawn, Pitt drank champagne and talked for nearly an hour with longtime friend Keener. He showed her pictures of his kids on his iPhone and talked about how excited he was for the birth of his twins with Angelina Jolie. (Keener clearly was excited too – she kept announcing to callers on her own cell phone that she was chatting to “BP.”)
