OlderMichelle Williams is All Smiles at Cannes
Michelle Williams joins costars Catherine Kenner, Philipp Seymour Hoffman, and Samantha Morton at a photocall for their film new film, Synecdoche, New York at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival on Friday in Cannes, southern France.
Synecdoche, New York is about a theatre director named Caden (Hoffman). After the inception of his new play, he discovers that his various autonomic functions are shutting down one at a time. The movie goes into themes such as the nature of family, of home, and of male-female relationships, all while blurring the nature of reality and representation in a nature consistent with the earlier work of Charlie Kaufman. Keener plays first wife Adele, Williams as his second wife Claire and Morton as his mistress Hazel. Variety has the first review.

This is the first time I can clearly see Matilda in her mom. It’s also nice to see Michelle smile after such a horrific and sad experience.

I don’t mean to sound rude or insensitive here, but DAYUM, homegirl looks beyond worn out! How old is she again? Poor thing’s obviously had a lot of stress on her lately…but then again, I know it’s not easy to raise an infant on your own. I wish her well—compared to her other creepy “Dawon’s Creek” co-stars, she appears to be carving out a strong career niche for herself, with or without a famous celeb spouse/SO.

It’s good to see this brave woman handling the separation from Ledger, then his untimely death. The daughter is a spitting image of her dad, so it must be really difficult for Williams to be reminded of Ledger. She is slowly adjusting and in silence mourn the death of Heath Ledger. She faces the future with such optimism. She does not want to be portrayed as a victim. She is a survivor. No pity party for this talented actress.
