David Cook Dating Kimberly Caldwell
The newly crowned Idol winner David Cook and runner-up David Archuleta make an appearance at MTV studios in Times Square, New York City on Tuesday after an appearance on TRL to promote the upcoming American Idol Tour. (Their segment will air on Thursday.)
Earlier today on Live With Regis and Kelly, Cook, 25, admitted he recently had a dinner date with former Idol contestant Kimberly Caldwell. Watch the video at TMZ.
When asked if he had a good time on his date at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, Cook replied: “I did. We’ll probably hang out again. So we’ll see.”
It’s an Idol romance!!
Caldwell, 26, appeared on the second season of Idol and met Cook through the show.

I have made a decision. I’m going to give Cook one more chance to shut his mouth about KC on the Today Show tomorrow, and focus on talking about his career. If he says one more thing about that B-rated, untalented s…., i.e. “great girl” & “had fun” & “more hanging out”, this fan is done for good.
To those who keep posting about quiting David C because of who he dates are not real fans. It shouldn’t be about what he does in his private life. It’s about the music. You don’t want to be his fan anymore, bye. He don’t need lame fangirls anyway.

In response to ANgela, I was a fan and I could give two hoots about who he dates as long as he keeps it private. Your right, it shouldn’t be about his private life so he should keep it private. He’s the one making it public. It’s obviously not about the music for him and it’s not about David Cook for me anymore. It doesn’t matter how good he sings when he represents as a famehog. And believe me, he DOES need “fangirls” unless he wants to look out in the audience and see a bunch of 50 year olds. Archie just said romance would wait until after his career. How cool that would have been if that would have come from Cook instead? I voted for the wrong dude. For Archie, it is about the music. For Cook, it’s about the celebrity. Disappointed dude.
you people are awful. i never thought some of you would actually be so ******* shallow and full of yourselves. so the guy wants to date a former idol, big deal. do you all actually think just because he use to have a normal life means you’d have a chance with the guy? kimberly caldwell use to be on tv and try to make a name for herself unfortunately it didn’t work out for her but she’s still a regular person - she just has a lifestyle much different than the rest of us, as does david now. he’s no longer going to be a regular joe-schmo like the lot of you. and saying you’ve lost respect for him because he’s talking about his love life? he’s not familiar to this form of questioning so he’s just getting used to it - and seriously, the guy is a red blooded american boy, he’ll definately have relations with other women so get over it. and if you honestly think he’s hanging out just to get laid, maybe you’re right, maybe you’re wrong. hollywood doesn’t work the way we all think - everything is about networking and getting your face out there and is part of the record’s deal.
you sell more than records in hollywood - you sell a bit of yourself and that’s the way the world works there.

Sorry DC-Fan, but I have to respectfully disagree with you. Here is what I posted elsewhere, and I think it’s important to be clear about what the issues are:
I think the fans’ disappointment of DC is not about some ridiculous fantasy about being with him. That’s absurd. For example, the fans knew Daughtry was married, and that was no big deal. He’s with an average decent/supportive woman … all all’s okay with the fans. I love and buy his music all the time.
The issue here has to do with what Kim Caldwell (and other starlets) represents – truly an embarrassment to what we perceived was an authentically nice young man, such as David. She doesn’t have a stellar reputation … she is the epitome of the Hollywood superficiality, which is not how we viewed David at all as we were voting week after week. That’s the disappointing part.
AI is a gift to David, though admittedly he worked hard for the title. But sometimes we are given gifts for a reason. Note how there’s so much attention these days given to the disease of cancer across the country with Patrick Swayze being sick, Sidney Pollak’s death, Ted Kennedy, and the list goes on and on. David’s personal family experience with this disease is a god-given opportunity to make a contribution to one of the most important issues of our time … instead of chasing the Hollywood ****** around.
Well, we can only hope that he’ll find a better and more honest/contributing path in life very soon, along with great success as an artist.
When she interviewed him on Idol Rewind or whatever the show is called, she gave him her phone number. This was months ago, probably in March. She wasn’t shy about it either. Up until a few weeks ago, he had a girlfriend.
lol…….im really disapointed hes taken but i think this will only last a month-tops… i know david cook likes her and all but many people dont think shes the “right one”. obviously, hes not guna listen to his fans that say “he shouldnt go out with her!, blah blah blah.” BUT i think Mandy Moore, the girl who he said was extreamly attractive would be good for him!! he deserves the best, common, i can make a list of good things about him!
1. He’s attractive
2. He’s famous
3. He’s a VERY nice person
4. He cares about other people then himself
5. He cares about people with cancer, lucima (and more)
6. He won american idol and will climb to the top!
7. Good sense of style
8. He is a funny person

Hey Polly, I respect your thoughts and comments although I find it kind of sad and disconcerting that as an audience, we have already labeled people without really truly knowing them. And Kimberly Caldwell at the centre of this discussion is a victim of the audience’s own superficiality of young starlets and we assume she represents Hollywood superficiality. I believe this mentality would allow actors, actresses, musicians, whoever realize that fans are also in the same boat. If we believe Kimberly is a superficial young starlet, what are we?
If David sees something in her, then maybe it’s worth it in the end. I don’t think we should assume she’s “the epitome of the Hollywood superficiality”. We don’t know her and assuming we do, shouldn’t give us the right to make such harsh judgements.
Look, I’m not a fan of hers. I couldn’t care less about her but seriously, if David sees something he likes in her, it shouldn’t matter to us. His decisions in life shouldn’t be the basis of who he is. He’s still new to the business and I believe in time, he will be well adjusted with the media’s way of prying into his personal life.
Sure AI is a gift to David and we all know he’s worked hard for the title and I completely agree with you about life and reasons. Everything happens for a reason, however with the attention in the news these days regarding cancer, why should the public make David the advocate for the disease? I’m not being disrespectful but if you’re going to make the argument that David should use this opportunity of Idol to work towards a cure and make a contribution, I’m not quite sure I completely agree with you at the moment. He’s just starting out in the business and if you know one thing about life and the value of reason, you’ll know that everything good happens in due time. You can’t put the whole thing on him and say he needs to act fast because he’ll do it. I’m certain. He will indeed make a contribution but at the same time, he’s entitled to having a personal life and chasing around whatever he wants in Hollywood.
And you noted that you hope he’ll find an honest path in life very soon - again, you’re basically showing a lack of depth into his life. You don’t know the guy (though if you do, forget it and joke’s on me) and for you to say that you “hope that he’ll find a better and more honest/contributing path in life very soon” is pretty questionable in terms of the whole superficiality debate.
Umm…can anyone say “publicity stunt”? Cook asks this obnoxious chick out on TV (who he happens to be WAY to intelligent for), they have ONE dinner date - they weren’t even alone on this “date” - and now they’re an item? Don’t think so. They’re trying to keep the media focused on DC while he tours and makes an album. Every other year, by the time the winner’s album is released, the hype has died down and people are no longer ready to run out and buy the record. So now AI has created a cute little American Idol couple - they get publicity for their lame Idol Tonight show, they keep people talking about Cook and his faux romance, and Caldwell gets some attention (number 1 searched on Yahoo now) AND, being a wannabe rocker with no credibility and no more AI fans, she’s connected to Cook. Did I mention that the media ***** Caldwell has an album coming out sometime soon? Hmmm…what a coincidence!
Another thing which was pretty funny - yesterday DC was asked about Caldwell’s music. He looked like he was trying to come up with something but admitted that he couldn’t “remember” even one of the songs she sang on the show. Uh…hello? First of all he’s said before that he didn’t watch the show so there would nothing for him to remember. Most of all, if he’s all into this chick like we’re supposed to believe he is (he said he’d been wanting to meet her when he asked her out - ON TV) don’t you think he would have taken 5 minutes to Google her name? As far as I know, when somebody is into someone, they want to find out about the person. This was a week AFTER he asked her out and 2 days after they had dinner. Yeah…she’s really on his mind a lot. LOL
well if it’s an AI publicity stunt, it’s been poorly crafted and apt to backfire in their faces. Already, since yesterday DC is kind of backing down from discussing the KC date thing … I think he’s realizing it’s blowing up in his naive face (or being advised of such). Notice how he changed the subject pretty quickly with Juliet on the M&J show. The KC thing didn’t even come up at the Today Show.
Most of the fan blogs show little support for a DC-KC match up. In fact, there’s a ton of disdain for the obnoxious/untalented KC, and disappointment in DC’s choice of women. Apparently, many many fans are threatening to withdraw support for him .. not sure how how much of a threat this is … but you’d be surprised how fan backlash can influence the career of a rising star. My Dad work in PR/entertainment for years and he agrees with this. It’s not all about getting your name in the media. These days it’s also about staying squeaky clean (including your associations, i.e. stay away from ******, drugs, DUIs etc.)

Alright, so I give up. I’m not media savvy like the rest of you. I don’t read tabloids and engage my life into reading about what Kim wears, what she eats, what she says, etc, etc. I only came across this blog because I was searching David Cook and curious as to who the lucky girl was on his arm.
I’m not defending Kimberly Caldwell because I’m not a fan of hers at all but as someone who likes to give people second chances, I thought most of you would share the point with me, I had no idea she had a DUI and that her AI statement was a materialistic one.
However, those two things shouldn’t determine the rest of someone’s life. We all make mistakes and as long as you’re alive, we should all be entitled to second chances. I have a friend who at times seems materialistic and craves fame in an ambitious way but that shouldn’t reflect me, as Kimberly’s choices shouldn’t affect David. He’s a solid guy and seems very sweet and personable as to look past such things.
DUI and materialism are trite in Hollywood. No one cares anymore. As sad as it is, almost everyone in the limelight has gone through it but I’m not saying David should join the club. Also, cee-cee, MADD wouldn’t care who David’s dating. I think they have more important things to be concerned about than reading tabloid fodder and approving a love life. I should know being a supporter of MADD and losing a classmate years ago in highschool.
I’m simply saying he’s a good guy who has a big enough heart to look past the bad as you people are all limited in seeing.
