OlderDavid Cook Album Set For Fall 2008 Release
Season seven American Idol champion David Cook has been signed to Simon Fuller’s 19 Recordings / RCA Records and is preparing to start recording his debut album, which is due for release in fall 2008.
“David Cook is an extraordinarily versatile and talented artist with an impressive sense of musicality,” says Tom Corson, Executive Vice President and General Manager, RCA Music Group. “He is a natural performer and a true star. We are thrilled to welcome him into our family.”
Cook, 25, will be recording his album over the summer while on the road with the American Idol’s Live tour. The tour kicks off on July 1st in Glendale, AZ and wraps on September 13th in Tulsa, OK.
“I am extremely happy to be signed by 19 Recordings / RCA Records. Signing this deal is truly a dream come true. I am looking forward to the recording process and creating a record. The support I have received from America has been overwhelming and I can’t wait to hopefully do right by them,” says Cook.
Cook is also set to set a record “for debut entries on the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Digital Songs tomorrow as 11 titles enter the former, while 14 songs jump on the download tally. The onslaught is led by a No. 3 Hot 100 start for his original recording ‘The Time of My Life,’ which shifts 236,000 downloads to easily take the No. 1 spot on Hot Digital Songs.”

Um. Dude. The ONLY thing he can really be accused of is perhaps being a bit naive. But come, he’s COMPLETELY new to all this! HE hasn’t been pimping his personal life anyway, it’s just he made the naive move of asking Kimberly out on air (because he’s just the kind of nice person who would do that since she’s been saying nice things about him all season). Then the MEDIA took off running with it! Yeah, is it something he’s going to need to learn that now that he’s in the public eye things like that probably aren’t the smartest? Sure. But honestly, give the poor guy a break! He’s a nice, laid-back kind of guy who isn’t used to this whole superstardom thing yet! He’ll get the hang of it :) Besides, he’s had ONE DATE with Kim. ONE. It’s prooobably not going to be going anywhere serious any time soon.

I went to school with David at Blue Springs South HS. He is a total TOOL! Very arogant and condescending to anyone who wasn’t in his click. His mom worked for the local electric company and he would always tell some of the kids that he didn’t like that he would get his mom to shiut off their electricity if he told her to. (In middle school)
Anyway, in HS he almost got his a** beat for saying that so he didn’t say it anymore after that. But, he was still a tool.

I did read on a couple of people from Blue Springs myspaces, that knew or know David Cook say he was a total jerk. So I kinda do believe that story. They said he was a real A-Hole to some people.

Also HS is a ways off from being 25. They don’t count. Do you know who much you change? Also his brother being sick again probably affected him. Winning the competition hass changed him some I’m sure. On the show I recall Simon saying he was arrogant and smug but it works for him. He’s been a complete gentleman and he gives great interviews.

I don’t think you can judge someone by how they acted seven years ago. People change. I think he seems very genuine and down to earth and if he isn’t really that way then he is doing a great job fooling a whole lot of people.

David Cook will be fine. People do not need to be spreading rumors about him like that Stephanie. I also have a family member who works for a large Utility Company here in the SouthEast, and he said that would NEVER HAPPEN, turning off someone’s electricity, without getting your job terminated, just because your son did like them. I would find it hard to believe, his Mother would be that childish and stupid, and stoop to that level. Everyone needs to give David a chance. David Archuleta will also prove himself down the road. He is young and has his whole life ahead of him.

Wow! He just only won exactly a week and now he already has a record deal. Can’t wait for that.
David Cook is a real talent and he does not have to be a pretty face sissy like Zac Efron who is hot in his own right, but with the teen-bopper crowd. Two different talents with two different succesful careers in their future. Although honestly the edginessof Cook is more appealing to a larger demographics then the sweetness of Efron.
Cook is gonna get laid plenty of times while on tour. At least I hope so. You girls better get over that quick. I’m stoked to hear what he’s got in store. He’s really known in the indie rock world.
I think he and Kim Caldwell have been dating for awhile and I think he kept it underwraps to keep the votes coming in. With the heavy schedule AI puts the winners through (tv shows, interviews), there’s no way he would have time to have a first date and “just happen” to have it photographed. I also don’t think he would ask her out on tv unless he already knew the answer. Everything is a little toooo perfect and I feel a little played. Not because I wanted him for myself but because of how he represented himself. He seems like a total poser and player now and I would have never voted for someone like that. He’s got a great voice but it’s not just about the music for me. It’s the whole picture and his looks rather cheap at the moment.

Come on! Give David Cook a chance. For those people who dislike him or stop becoming his fan just because he’s dating Kimberly are so shallow. You should like him for his music and for his scintillating character, nor for who he’s dating.
Also, so what if he was somewhat of a jerk in high school? That was the past, and I’m positive he has probably changed and matured. In high school anyway, more than half of the people are jerks and self-centered. HS is just a bubble and jail we have to go through and get out of.
I’m in high school right now, and everyone are mostly b*it**es, so don’t be judging Cook for what he was back then.

I’m from Blue Springs and yes, you are going to find people that didn’t like him in school. Maybe, just maybe I wouldn’t like the ones that didn’t like Cook..uh, duh! Maybe they were just jealous or insecure themselves or they wouldn’t care about what David did or didn’t do. Remember school all…uh, its school and people are young and stupid…all of them. I think we are past school days with David…uh, 25. He was been humble, thanks everyone, cries…geesh, what do you want, his blood? He hasn’t gotten to this place being insecure and unsure of himself…maybe you insecure ones out there only relate to putting down people that are…just maybe its your problem?
i wasn’t a big fan of american idol, but when i heard him sang ” the music of the night” i was mesmerized! gosh.. this guy’s truly versatile considering he’s into rock music! since then, i was always on tuned on the idol thing.. i’ve read good and NOT SO GOOD comments about DC, but hey guys don’t judge his past. nobody is perfect!

I’m 42 and still love rock and blues. I’m from Canada and watched every american idol show this past season because right from the beginning I knew david cook would win and he definitely deserved to win. Hope he comes to Canada to tour next year cuz I won’t care how much I have to pay for a front row ticket, I’ll be there. YOU ROCK DAVID!!!!! Haven’t had a singer give me goose bumps in twenty years and god it feels good. He’s a true performer.
I love this man, I’m from Canada , I’ve never been so emotionally invested in American Idol season 7. I never really cared for Idol ever, until this year when I saw DC in his first auditions I was blown away.. when he started to sing livin’ on a prayer, then every single week he nailed it and BAMMM!
Now he’s the next American Idol. Finally, can’t wait to see him in the tour and also voted for him *cough* *cough* illegally.

why do people like him so much? i mean his voice is just awful, people only like him because of his rock background music, trust me, i’m a music instructor and i know a lot about singing, but his way of singing are just all wrong and his voice will deteriorate even more as he grows. And NO, im not another fan of other idols, i watched several of his performance, and there’s practically nothing right with his voice, especially his roberta flack rendition wherein he screamed at the end and more performances by him. sad truth.

Any and every comment that I have ever read from people who used to know David, either from high school, or when he played with his band Axium, or when he tended bar in Tulsa, Oklahoma and played with the MWK band, people go on and on about David Cook and how nice and friendly he was and how he would go out of his way for you. The words I remember reading from people he knew him were; humble, kind, thoughtful, great friend, passionate about his music, sensitive, caring, etc. So I don’t believe what some of these posters on here are saying… doesn’t look like they really went to school with David Cook or knew him at all, now does it.
Love David Cook. Absolutely phenomenal guy.
