OlderAngelina Jolie - “Vanity Fair” July 2008
Angelina Jolie looks lip-smackingly good on the the July 2008 cover issue of Vanity Fair, out next week. Here’s a preview:
On being pregnant with twins: “I love it. It makes me feel like a woman. It makes me feel that all the things about my body are suddenly there for a reason. It makes you feel round and supple, and to have a little life inside you is amazing. Also, I’m fortunate. I think some women have a different experience depend-ing on their partner. I think that affects it. I happen to be with somebody who finds pregnancy very sexy. So that makes me feel very sexy.”
On her international family: “When I was growing up I wanted to adopt, because I was aware there were kids that didn’t have parents. It’s not a humanitarian thing, because I don’t see it as a sacrifice. It’s a gift. We’re all lucky to have each other. I look at Shiloh—because, obviously, physically, she is the one that looks like Brad and I when we were little—and say, ‘If these were our brothers and sisters, how much would we have known by the time we were six that it took into our 30s and 40s to figure out?’ I suppose I’m giving them the childhood I always wished I had.”
On daughter Shiloh’s birth: “We were in this little hospital in Africa when Shi was born. I don’t think there was anybody else in the hospital. It was just a little cottage, the three of us. It ended up being the greatest thing…. I had a C-section and I found it fascinating. I didn’t find it a sacrifice and I didn’t find it a painful experience. I found it a fascinating miracle of what a body can do.”
On nannies never sleeping over: “We don’t ever have anybody spend the night. We may have to adjust that when the next one comes. But we do have ladies that work with us, and they’re also from different cultures and back-grounds. One lady’s a Vietnamese teacher—wonderful. One is of Congolese descent from Bel-gium. Another is from the States and is really creative and does art programs.”
On artists as parents: “Artists raise their kids differently,” she said. “We communicate to the point where we probably annoy our children. We have art around the house, we have books, we go to plays, we talk. Our focus is art and painting and dress-up and singing. It’s what we love. So I think you can see how artists in some way raise other artists.”

Great interview; I like the part she talks about how they are raising the kids with a lot of art. Shiloh already debuted in a film, but I won’t be surprised if many Jolie-Pitt kids end up in the field of art of some kind.

#31 - ITA. JLO was all bloated. Jessica Alba, who is a few years younger than Angelina, has become quite ordinary and also bloated. Nicole Kidman is fake looking even down to her tiny belly. Christina Aguilara - LOL - tried to compensate by plastering on make up by the truckload.
I don’t know… I’m not feeling the cover. I think it’s the lipstick shade– too harsh.
And given the baggage associated with VF, I have to question their motivations in selecting the cover shot and accompanying quote. Angelina, although heavily pregnant, looks like a siren with serious bed hair and talking about how hot and bothered Brad gets when she’s pregnant.
I have a feeling that a contrast between a certain 2005 VF cover and this one will erupt, much to celebrity pundits’ glee.
Still… I may have to buy VF or at least read it at the local library.

I honestly and truly find Angelina Jolie to be the most exotically beautiful creature that walks this earth. But I HATE this cover! I am disappointed.
I’ve seen her say before that she has naturally deep color in her lips and likes to keep it toned down. I wonder what she thought about this vampy red lipstick. I get that they are probably playing off the whole Changeling oxblood look. But they got it completely wrong with the fresh-from-between-the-sheets hair and ridiculous cleavage. It comes off burlesque-ish, pin-up. They should have stayed true to the whole look if that’s what they were going for.
I bet Brad loves it…it’s very sexy. But this is Vanity Fair, not FHM. I wonder who called the shots on this one.

Oh yeah…and if this is true and the names are correct? I think the nanny’s friend just got the nanny fired… I sure as hell would fire the woman. Angie and Brad have gone to great lengths to ensure privacy and a special time for themselves and their family and the nanny is telling their biz, especially THIS biz, to her friends - despite confidentiality agreemens? B#tch would be unemployed and facing a lawsuit in a heartbeat. Mine would be the last kids she ever watched as a professional nanny.

Some of you need to stop analyzing every word that Angie utters. She mentions art books and your panties are in a bunch accusing her of being pretentious and full of herself. This is how it works: a reporter shows up to interview Angie. She in turn has to say something and give up some private, personal details so that the journalist has something to jot down/record in the hand held recorder. I am sure Angie knows that she’s not saying anything that is a revelation or earth shattering, but she must says something. Otherwise, it would be an awfully quiet interview.
As for another person who complained that she’s not being original and sharing the same details about how Brad finds her sexy while pregnant, here something for thought: that it’s still true with her second pregnancy. Don’t be jealous. Just enjoy the article and move on.

A-list magazine covers are such big deals and takes a lot of production value, they normally aim to show different sides of the celebs, something extraordinary, which has been perfectly achieved with Angie’s new look in this new VF cover.
Only Aniston covers are simple, boring and ugly as even the best photogs like Testino cant do too much airbrush to make her look beautiful, check out her last Harper’s Bazaar’s cover, where her ordinary face with the long chin was prominently displayed.

I like the fact that she looks somewhat different in this shoot (maybe it’s just a cover with a short article inside and not a photo shoot like Vogue a while back). It shows her versatility with different looks, which comes in handy as an actress. There is no mistaken that face - gorgeous bone structure, amazing eyes, sexy full plump lips and heck, even her brows are perfectly arched. Hate her. Love her.

Please, you are so lying. C-sections don’t hurt at all. Vaginal deliveries where the cut you va-jay-jay hurt for weeks healing with stitches. I’ve had both and I’ll take c-section anyday.

I had a c-section too. the precedure didn’t hurt but afterwards ( getting up hours after the surgery to walk, use the restroom , etc.) was just as painful as for some women going through labor . i say that with having children you are either going to hurt before or after . no procedure is pain free .

From brad, angie, maddox, zahara, pax, shiloh and now the twins. Interest to this family is growing and growing everyday even until brad and angie starts having their grandchildren.
So she thinks people with integrated families know more than families without?
Experts and everyday parents agree that what children need most is stability. Different faces, art, traveling — all those things are great but not nearly as important as having a stable environment. I can’t help but think the constant entourage and traveling makes for an unstable environment for the children. It seems like Jolie trying to doctor their world with all these less important factors in order to try and create some sort of utopia. Society’s idolization of celebrities like Jolie and Pitt places emphasis on the wrong things: beauty and material possessions. There are plenty of well-adjusted, smart, giving adults that came from normal everyday families that had less.
And we as parents all know that you can give your kids everything in the world and they will walk their own path. The most important thing you can teach your child is take responsibility for their own actions. It seems like Jolie still blames the conflicts in her life on her father’s affair and, now, not having adopted siblings? She seems utterly conflicted. She does so many great humanitarian things but yet she doesn’t raise her children to believe in a higher power? And why is she always comparing Shiloh to the other children? First she was a “blob” then she was an “outcast” and now she’s the lucky one for having adopted siblings because they’ll make her smarter and know things mommy and daddy didn’t learn when they were younger?
Let’s just hope the children are OK because their parents obviously still have issues.

Not fond of the photo. I think it evokes Julie Newmar which in of itself is not by a longshot a bad thing “if you are a Julie Newmar fan of which I am.” I lay my less than enthralled opinion at the feet of the photog. Don’t know what he/she was aiming for, but in my opinion they missed the mark.

I didn’t say the nanny was supposedly told “ahead of time”. When SAM P originally posted the story that the twins had been born it was on MONDAY. The website said the babies where born the previous day. That would mean that more than likely the babies were already named…and presumably that’s how the nanny knew what names to tell her friend.
As for people at JJB blaming Jared…how’d they come to that asinine conclusion? Jared didn’t have a thread on it until today. The rumor was first posted here by SAM P on Monday. At first look the picture doesn’t look much like her. I find her to be such a natural beauty and usually pictured with low key make up and hairstyling. This is more of a statement look. I am not sure I am a fan of the “thank you for the Country Music Award” hair or the bright red lips. Her natural lips, lightly glossed, are her best look and hers alone. No one comes close to duplicating that. She is still the most beautiful woman on the planet but I much prefer her usual look to this airbrushed variety.

I had a c-section too. the precedure didn’t hurt but afterwards ( getting up hours after the surgery to walk, use the restroom , etc.) was just as painful as for some women going through labor . i say that with having children you are either going to hurt before or after . no procedure is pain free .

Angie said before that she was on a morphine drip after having her C-section with Shiloh. I can’t remember now if that was the Vogue or Marie Claire interview. She said she was talking to her mother on the phone and they were both in the hospital under the same fake name and both had morphine drips and were a little loopy. I would assume she didn’t start breastfeeding right away because you can’t do that while on a morphine drip.
People who believe Angelina would give one of her wonder twins a plain middle name like JANE are not Angelina fans. JANE? Amelie jane?

Today’s Insider just showed some pictures from the VF article. In one she has a green wig on, in another she has long black hair. So the theme of the photoshoot is to show her in sexy, screen siren poses. At least that’s how I see it.
Angie is so very versatile. She is a serious dramatic actress, sex symbol, action hero. Then in her real life she is a mother, domestic partner, humanitarian, philantrophist, and someone who wants to make her life useful to others. The pictures for VF reflect her role as sexy screen siren. When she promotes The Channeling, her magazine pics will have a different theme.
Point by point , issues like Vanity Fair cancel out all previous idiotic ‘proclamations’ made by the hords of tabloid rags. I am looking forward to buying and reading this issue. It’s allways fun to have ‘real’ information to counter the many foolish claims made by the fool trolls who insist on ‘visiting’ here.

I suffer from depression… and she is the only thing that lifts me up.
I don’t take meds. And I came from a similar family background as her, in that my father was emotionally, mentally and verbally abusive to my mother and me (except i had no siblings and my father lived with us.. what a daily terror and I had no one to lean on at home) and we were extremely poor… they’re still poor and living in a bad situation right now and I feel horrible that I am not doing so well myself to help my mother out of this rut. She coudn’t even work because of how mentally abusive my father was. I can understand why Angelina would cut out her father off. Fathers like this pull you in with guilt, only to belittle, degrade and shun you. This sort of thing causes depression and lack of motivation for the people who suffer at the hands of these Narcisstic/Borderline Personality Disorder parents.
And I remember Angelina stating in a recent interview that her mother was like a LION when it came to her children. My mother is just like that! She suffered depression at the hands of my father, but she was a fighter to anyone when it came to me, her only child, and she stood up to my father for herself.. only to end up losing so much physical and mental energy, as a result. My mother was not a perfect mother… but my father didn’t do anything to help improve her.
ANYWAY, I digress! I’m just saying that I look at Angelina as a role model and hopefully emulate her ways and become a stromg woman like her.
Now if u go to ETonline, it says technical difficulties, LOL. I guess they have to change their story now. :)

If I told you I had a wonderful pregnancy with no morning sickness whatsoever, you’d probably call me a liar, but it wouldn’t make it any less true. Every woman’s pregnancy is different. You may have a low threshold for pain tolerance. I’ve had abdominal surgery, BTW, and once they gave me the painkillers right after the operation, I had no pain at all.

I was watching Extra and they showed more photos from the Vanity Fair issue of Angelina and they are GORGEOUS! She is a very beautiful woman. One of the photos she is sporting a bob cut blonde wig and you can barely tell it is her, but the photo is flawless.

ROTFLMAO. I don’t necessarily think the unoriginality points to a Brad fan, but it does point to someone who reads too many Harlequin romance novels and can’t think outside the box. Look at what Brad & Angie have named their children - I’m leaving Mad out because his name was all Angie’s doing. So we have Zahara Marley, Pax Thien and Shiloh Nouvel. I think we all know that neither of these people is into traditional naming schemes, therefore that whole middle-name-of-grandmother bit was a big ass clue that the story wasn’t true. For God’s sake…his first bio baby and Brad names the kid after a quirky French architect? Not the actions of a guy who’s going to name his kid “Jane”. And I guess the hoaxer just figured since they were in France she’d go with a French name and “Amelie” dresses up the plainness of “Jane” so what the heck! I’m surprised the rumor took hold the way it did. The names were a dead give away to me on MONDAY that the story wasn’t true.

Hi Anoble, I answered your post earlier and they posted my response to yours and then it disappeared. Everything is wack today. Yes, another crane crashed in Manhattan today, only this one happened right in the middle of the morning rush hour. Thank God there was only one casualty. NYC is in the middle of a building boom and there are too many buildings going up too fast. Someone is cutting corners and there is going to be hell to pay sooner or later.

“It’s not true. It’s a rumor,” Pitt’s Los Angeles-based talent manager, Cynthia Pett-Dante, told Reuters in a statement issued by her office. She declined further comment.
However, “Entertainment Tonight” said it stood by its report earlier in the day that Jolie had given birth to twin daughters in France, attributing the story to an unidentified person close to the actress.
“The source says she was inside the delivery room, tells ‘ET’ yes, the babies were born, and yes, mother and daughters are fine,” the syndicated program said in its broadcast.
The story was disputed almost from the start by various other celebrity news outlets, with People magazine quoting an unnamed representative for Jolie on its Web site as saying: “Angelina has not given birth. She is fine, enjoying her home and her family in France.”
Meanwhile, another celebrity publication, Britain’s NOW magazine, reported the latest additions to the Jolie-Pitt clan had already been named Isla Marcheline and Amelie Jane.
There was no immediate comment from Jolie’s Los Angeles-based manager.
The only maternity clinic in the southern French city of Aix-en-Provence, the region where Jolie and Pitt were believed to be staying, said it had no information. Town hall officials there said they were aware of the media reports but did not know if they were true.

I’m trying to imagine if these women are ever thinking with their heads when they come out and tell the public that their men “think they are sexy.” Are they bragging? Being defense? Or just babbling in the typical Hollywood style.
Didn’t she try at the beginning to convince people that their “coming together” was all for the children and the world’s unfortunate and “being sexy” was not something that was on either of their minds. Apparantly it is on her mind now so much that she feels she had to tell the world about it.

And, the whole speech about being pregnant with twins is a typical Hollywood-style act.
The talk about having “an international family” does not make sense.
Being in the hospital when Shiloh was born: just three of them and nobody else? Where was the doctor. Nobody was working? What kind of a hospital is that even though we know it was in Africa.
On having an “international” nursing staff. What’s the point? Now they have three adopted and three natural born children. Are they going to stop giving more birth unless they adopt more again just to keep the “international” flavor of it balanced? Or are they going to bread or adopt all together to make the “colors” truely “balanced”. They seem to have been so thoughtful at creating an true colorful family!
And they had books and play and talk with their children– what parent doesn’t except perhaps some really poor ones. Surprising she even found that to be something to brag about. I guess that’s a big deal for someone in the Hollywood.

It doesn’t look like Angelina Jolie has given birth. Contrary to a report on the “Entertainment Tonight” Web site, the Jolie Pitt twin girls still seem to be in the womb.
Reports out of France said Jolie gave birth on Sunday at a Catholic clinic in the Aix-en-Provence region of the country. But Aix is a small city, not a region, and it is far away from where the Jolie Pitt clan is staying. If they do use a hospital or clinic when the time comes, it will be in Nice, Monaco, Cannes or nearby Grasse. Jolie is said to be seeing a doctor from Grasse.
Second, Jolie’s manager and confidant, Geyer Kosinski, is in Los Angeles. Believe me, if she’d had babies, was in labor, or anything near it, loyal and attentive Kosinski, who is like family, would be at her side holding one hand while Pitt held the other. Want to know when the babies are coming? Follow Geyer.
Even Fox says Angie has not given birth.

I’m sure if it’s something not so flattering like she doesn’t belive in soulmates, then people will say it’s a sign of doom. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what it’s all about.

I saw a preview of those photo snaps of Angelina in Vanity Fair on tv (one of those NBC entertainment interview shows again) and she looks like Kelly LeBrock when Kelly was younger in certain poses! And they both come from French-Canadian parents. HEY, THEY SHOULD DO ANOTHER NEW “WEIRD SCIENCE” MOVIE, BUT IN A DIFFERENT WAY, WITH JOLIE IN IT. And bring back the original cast members.

Why would fans defend their relationship? The relationship belongs to and is defined by Angie and Brad, not their fans. To see a couple always cleave to one another no matter what says much about the strength of their relationship much more than any words possibly could. Fans accept them as they are for whom they are, unlike detractors like you who are constantly seeking signs of holes or rips in the relationship fabric which to this day have not appeared in this tightly woven relationship.

ROTFLMAO. I don’t necessarily think the unoriginality points to a Brad fan, but it does point to someone who reads too many Harlequin romance novels and can’t think outside the box. Look at what Brad & Angie have named their children - I’m leaving Mad out because his name was all Angie’s doing. So we have Zahara Marley, Pax Thien and Shiloh Nouvel. I think we all know that neither of these people is into traditional naming schemes, therefore that whole middle-name-of-grandmother bit was a big ass clue that the story wasn’t true.
