John Mayer Covers Rolling Stone
John Mayer is on the cover of the latest issue of Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Guitar Songs of All Time” issue.
Well, not exactly the cover. He’s on the inside flap of the cover.
This is the second year in a row Rolling Stone has featured Mayer on the cover of their now annual “Guitar” issue. Both May 2008’s “Living Guitar Legends” issue and February 2007’s “Guitar Heroes” round-up have paired Mayer with peers and icons alike.
Also on this cover and pictured below: Kirk Hammett, Carlos Santana, Buddy Guy, Eddie Van Halen, Jimmy Page, B.B. King and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez.

Just because some has the ability to manipulate their way into a circle don’t mean they belong there. He is not gifted he plays ok. So many millions can do the same thing he does. It’s nothing special. Just massive brainwashing thats going on.

john mayer is such a douche bag sell out. first, he blogs about his gay man crush for pete wentz and how he’s so talented. now, tell that to ******* jimmy page or eddie van halen and they will laugh in your face and lets see how fast he fights to retract those words. there are so many young guitarists that get no recognition that will smoke this blue-wanna-be. not creative in anyway. everyone else belong there EXCEPT mayer. why not derek trucks? why not joe bonamassa? why not kenny wayne shepard or jonny lang? guitarist that have put out more then one “guitar” album. douche.

It’s called hit it and quit it. It’s been going on since the caveman days.
Stud here is not that great he plays certain people to pull strings. All the while trying to climb up the ladder on their backs. Any one that know guitar knows that. He is trying to pay for media attention right before his summer tour. How else will he fill the tour.
No body wants to here no such thing or your f–king body is a wonderland and waiting on the world to change is ****joke.
What are we waiting for you to change Hollywood hos again.. I would puke if I had to here crappy “say” his blues crap sucks to. All that continuum junk sucks. There is his concert-no use in bothering.
It stop being about music long time ago. Now it’s about paying PR people to get you where you need to go.

Don’t let what these people are saying bother you. The only people who take the time to make such negative and hateful comments are those who are jealous, bored, and unhappy in their own lives. For every hater on here, there are hundreds who love you; they just aren’t searching for dirt on you on the internet, and therefore don’t usually comment in these forums. Your success speaks for itself. You absolutely deserve to be on that cover.
wow. john mayer standing next to some real musicians (and eddie van halen). i guess they needed to find someone of regular looks to desaturate the ugly on the cover.
i just dont get the mayer thing, his music is superlative in its mediocrity and it just bores me to tears. he’s ok looking but nothing special. are we, like, short on quality man beef or something?

John deserves to be there as much as anyone else that’s pictured. Have you given him a chance, have you even been to one of his concerts and watched him perform?
True, lately he hasn’t lived up to what he always said he wanted to be (or not to be), is that what’s pissed you off? I hated the whole “don’t believe the hype” deal and now this publicity/maniston crap. He just needs to go back to being who he is. Be John Mayer.

According to Ok Magazine, John and Jen were spotted have a romantic dinner the other day. I think it was last night.

Dear god, some people need to learn how to separate their opinions about his private life from his professional life. You may not like his music (I’m not particularly an Eric Clapton fan, although he’s amazing) but he is inarguably an incredibly talented musician. If you disagree, go apply at Rolling Stone and maybe you can have a say next year.
I have to say that when I saw the cover of this magazine I almost threw up. John Mayer next to these amazing guitarists is hard to swallow. The only people who think he belongs on the cover are his little girl fans who wouldnt know a good guitar player if one was shoved up their asses. So many amazing young guitarist out there who are probably steaming right now. **** i would have preferred they dig up jimmy hendrix’s corpse and placed that in the cover shoot.
Its just ridiculous when there’s 7 great guitarists up there and then John Mayer. Everyone knows hes about his image more than his musicality, so it just tells us all a little something about what rolling stone really values in music.
P.S. He looks like a ******* racoon.
