Nikki was in the movie that he won for and also nominated for it alongside him. It would make sense for him to mention her by name, just like he was being respectful by mentioning that all the other nominees were great at the start of his speech. Nikki’s shouting was her just being her normal obnoxious self. A serious lol at the “fans” who think the zac from his hairspray days *dissapeared just beacuse as of late he compliments and is actually with his girlfriend. It’s amazing how much say people think they can have in others lives. He is happy, let him be. Also would add that I prefer the zac, that was just shown now, rather than the one who would gladly do a pathetic promotional stunt on tv just like all other stars or be so consumed with publicity and promotion.

<3 zac definitely deserved it. all the other nominees haven’t really exploded in the movie scene since their movie debut. but i wouldn’t know since i’m not checking out their fan sites i don’t know what their working on. although nikki blonski did a great job in the movie, she did not do tracy turnblad justice. i don’t like vanessa…i don’t hate her but i don’t like her…but she did look good, her hair and make up don’t change.

why did nikki not do justice to tracy? she was amazing in all aspects and if you don’t like her at least be fair…who would have done tracy justice….even zac was raving about nikki and what a great talent she is…

zac won this award due to his popularity and come to think of it his role in hairspray required very minimal acting as compared to what the other nominees did…but i’m a fan of zac but i am just being fair…seth rogen was great and so were the others but we know that zac may have had the most number of fans…

even zac himself was surprised that he won but he was very humble about it…he knew others deserved it more than him…

Zac was nominated cause his good job, not only for this popularity. If he wouldnt won, he always aprecciated the nomination. But he won, cause his role in the movie and his actitude like a growing actor. Congra to Zac.

The people who movies are made for and whose money make movies successful have voted. The winners have rightly taken their awards. End of old story. We’ve moved on to the next movie season and those breaking out with new movies, if any.

Zac deserved this more than Nikki IMO.

Just becuase Nikki had a bigger role, doesn’t mean she did a better job. She made the character unlikeable and annoying for me and her facial expressions were ridiculously over-acted.

I think there were other people nominated in the category who deserved it more than Zac though.

Congratulations, Zac!!! Loved his humble reaction and speech. And those two…just radiant…

And, Zac does deserve the award. I agree there was a lot of talent he was up against and I enjoyed their roles too. I think of the breakthrough award though as not necessarily an award for the newest talent…so, not to Nikki because it was her first role and she did do well in it…no dispute there…but as really breaking through by definition…through a barrier (kid fans to adult fans, for instance)…honestly, this was a big role for Zac. How many more adult fans did he gain from playing Link? What were his prospects before that role and after? And, I’m not being insulting…it’s not that he didn’t have any…it’s just that they really increased after Hairspray and then the success of HSM2 that followed. Now, in the last 5 mths alone, he has worked on filming three movies for the big screen. He’d been working in the business for several years and this really was his breakthrough performance. And, to me, he kind of stole the show…I had no idea who he was when I walked into the theater to see Hairspray that day and when I left, I wanted to know more about who he was.

Way to go, Zac!

Zac was nominated because of his talents and not because he has many fans. MTV can control the nominations but not the actual voting. ALL actors and actresses had EQUAL chance but voters seemed to like Zac more. It was Zac who won and not the others. He deserved this award because he IS talented and got this award because he has a huge fanbasis. And I don’t understand what’s wrong with that. Every performer has fans and supporters. So if you are not satisfied with the result then I suggest you that you should encourage your star’s fans more.

But do you really think that people would like him only because he has a pretty face and/or a cute girlfriend? No! Do you think directors would give him roles just because he has become famous? No! Do you think directors would actually write a script just for him if he wasn’t talented? Hell no! So let’s face it: this guy is only 20 and a half years old and I bet we will hear a lot about his work and success. So you’d better start to accept this fact. End of story.

Congratulations Zac - your hard work is paying off and you are being recognised for it. Well done. Shame Nikki could not share the award with you!

Well, you know what. Neither teens nor tweenies nominated Zac for this award. Someone on the MTV nominating committee felt he deserved to be nominated.

And what a lot of people don’t realize is that a lot of us older fans had a BIG hand in Zac winning this award. Probably a lot more than the teenie boppers did.

People can moan and complain all they want. He won. And his fans voted for him. Doesn’t matter how young or old they are.

OK, all you moaners and groaners who want to say all kinds of bad things abou t Zac winning—how would ANYONE win if they didn’t get votes? Do you know how stupid you sound when you say he only won because all his fans voted for him? Of course that’s how he won! That’s how EVERY winner won in their catagory. And in Zac’s catagory he happened to get the MOST VOTES—meaning more VOTERS wanted him to get it rather than the other people in that catagory. SO, get over it. People are so resentful. He was humble and surprised he won. He did nothing wrong to anyone, not did he do anything that should make anyone angry. Some of you may have wished someone else would have gotten it but just because they didn’t doesn’t give anyone the right to say insulting things about him because he did win.

I agree. And his eyes were way too blue! I love his suit: basically, I love when he wears blue and I think I was a bit bored of his black outfits lately. And the lack of a tie made him look more bohemian and cool.

I love these shiny suits because they seem to match his bright personality. (And his eyes and face glow during these events, especially when there is a certain someone by his side who is really proud of him…)

So with you, Zac Fan! I mean for people like Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise to be around so long they had to have many things going for them like looks, talent, charisma, likability, etc. THAT’s how actors get to be “stand outs” after they became “break outs”. Nobody really talked about Brad’s acting talents when he first was seen on the primetime soap Dallas but he quickly made his mark. Just because Zac is attractive doesn’t mean he doesn’t have talent or other things that will make him a big star throughout the years. I just hope he keeps the same level head he possesses now.

Yes, go sox, I did notice how good Zac looked. That handsome face, those gorgeous eyes, and that fine build he has. I thought he looked so fit as he walked up on that stage. He was so perfect. You could tell how unbelievable it all was for him. I loved his thank you to the fans who he added “…without you I couldn’t break out of anything.” So cute and appropriate for that speech at that time.

I know, Karen. I love that. And, I agree…I think a lot still freaks him out…and I think that’s a great thing…it’s what continues to show how humble he is and unassuming. Yes, he’d better get used to the accolades that are sure to follow him in life, but at the same time, if he retains a lot of that wide-eyed wonder, that’d be great. It really is such an endearing quality. :-)

I can’t believe people are actually complaining about Zac winning because he got more votes. That’s how it was set up, for the person with the most votes to win. Did anyone notice how many times Zac and Vanessa were shown during the MTV awards? I don’t believe anybody else was shown on camera as many times as they were. Of course, when you look as good as either of these two young people it is hard for others not to notice.

Karen - yes! I could not get over how many times they were shown. It just made the awards that much better for me…it was great seeing those flashes to them…you could tell they were really enjoying themselves and that just warmed my heart…probably the camera man’s too. LOL.

My country is very small and the people around here know almost nothing about Zac and/or Vanessa. So imagine my excitement when in the evening news Zac and Vanessa were shown as the ‘most powerful A-lister young couple of Hollywood’. And no matter that the news was about MTV Movie Awards in general, they didn’t show Will Smith, Johnny Depp or P. Diddy (they are bigger stars here), the clip was only about them. I was sooooo proud!!! And they looked sooooo good in big screen. (It’s funny but besides HSM1&2 and Hairspray, I’ve only watched YT videos about them that were mostly blurry.)

They most certainly seem to be being taken seriously these days. I was getting so tired of some of the entertainment news shows—although covering them—making it sound more like “it’s such a sweet little thing” like they weren’t worthy of serious consideration simply because of their age. I think they may be getting ready to put their stamp on a lot of people’s minds. Unfortunately that will probably only bring more resentment and/or jealousy from certain types.

Well, go sox, because it was the Sox, we’ll forgive you. ;-) Check out 1) when the two guys win best fight, 2) during the Wayne’s World skit, 3) during the Duane Johnson, Steve Carrell, Anne Hathaway humorous bit, 4) when Johnny Depp wins (I think the first time), and of course you’ve seen the fabulous part where Zac won. LOL!

I agree with Karen and go sox, and I think Zac and Vanessa are growing as a couple and seem most happy when they are not constantly hounded by the paps. I’m sure their time together after being apart, and the low key lifestyle in Salt Lake City have helped a great deal too. If and I say If, they were to settle down , I would not in the least be surprised if they moved out of the LA area. THey both really hate the paps and Vanessa stated in one of my daughter’s teen mags( though they are not always reliable) , that things are different in LA. She will really miss her time in Salt Lake City.

I do remember reading recently that there was speculation that Vanessa may have bought a house in the LA area though. Does anyone have any further info on this? Thanks.
