Angelina Jolie Wigs Out in Green

Angelina Jolie Wigs Out in Green

New pictures of Angelina Jolie from the July 2008 issue of Vanity Fair have surfaced. (The green wig was Ms. Jolie’s idea! It’s also pictured in the background of this photo.)

The photos were taken Jan. 31, before everybody’s favorite humanitarian, mother, and sex goddess publicly announced that she was expecting twins in August. Here are some new quotes from her interview, where she lets us inside her celebrity bubble:

On why they named their daughter Shiloh: “It’s a biblical name,” she told me, “but we didn’t name her for that. It was a name my parents almost named their first child—there was a miscarriage: Shiloh Baptist. Because my father had been shooting in Georgia and that was the most southern name [my parents] could come up with. It’s a name I always liked. I used to go under it in hotels: Shiloh Baptist. I’d gone under it when [Brad] called hotel rooms where I was staying.”

On how she plans on raising her kids religion-wise: “[My mother] was Catholic but also a child of the 60s. She stopped going to confession at one point because she was having sex before marriage. To me, she represented what religion should be. She never preached. If things didn’t make sense to her, she never just accepted it. I had Communion, but she never forced me to go to church. Brad got me this great thing for Christmas. It’s a bookshelf that has a book on every religion. That’s how we plan to raise our kids. Teach them about all religions. They can pick one or be a student of all of them. We’ll celebrate Kwanzaa for our girl. We’ll celebrate moon and water festivals for our boys. We’ll take them to temples in certain countries. Also to church.”

On Brad Pitt coming into her life unexpectedly: “After my last divorce, I said I was absolutely going to marry somebody in another field, an aid worker or something. Then I met Brad, everything I wasn’t looking for, but the best man, the best father I could possibly wish for, you know? I don’t see him as an actor. I see him very much as a dad, as somebody who loves travel and architecture more than being in movies.”

On her father Jon Voight and his film Coming Home, which he won the best-actor Oscar in 1979: “Actually. I’ve never seen Coming Home. Because that was when my father left my mom, and the woman who he cheated on her with is in the film.” (When rumors surfaced about Jolie and Pitt, who was then married to Aniston, Jolie denied them, saying, in essence, Look, this is what happened to my mother, so I could never do it to another woman.)

Love Angelina. Love this issue.

issa, are you stupid, you are not a fan, shut the fuc* up

Love Angie, but don’t think she looks good in a bang, her face is too wide and her forehead is too short for it, sexy though!

Are you reading what she said? No where in this interview did she she verbalize she met him and instantaneously saw him as a father for her child. What seems to be clear to me is she wasn’t looking at him as someone she would be with (an actor, famous, etc) and was looking at a different type of guy that was more in line with the humanitarian work she does. She met Brad and over time determined he might fit the bill, which was surprising to her obviously as he wasn’t the type of guys she saw herself eventually being with.

Kinda blows holes in the theory she ‘chased’ or ’stole’ him doesn’t it? If he wasn’t what she was looking for, how could that be true she went after him? It’s obvious, Mr. Pitt was the pursuer and had to show parts of himself to her to make her look at him differently. It appears his choice to do that was the best thing that ever happened to both of them :)

Hello jello @ 06/02/2008 at 12:02 pm

the only i can’t stand about woman is that she did exactly what her father did to her mother! u have to be very stupid not to see that! thats why all u people who hate on jen need to realize who screwed who over!
also there was proof that he was cheating on jen while they were married..there were pictures of brad and angie holding hands on the set of mr and mrs smith and NO it was not for a scene! also..a man who was with a woman for over 7 years shouldn’t just run off to be with another woman…i mean thats very insensitive! but i don’t think anyone would understand that…to all u guys this woman can do no wrong…even though she has! i only brought this up because of what she said in the article…its annoying! but whatever…Jen has moved on with her life!

To Pendant: About Guns and Angelina:

(1) I don’t know why some people think that being a humanitarian is incompatible with being an advocate for guns. when the UN sends in a peace keeping force, they are armed to enforce the peace or at least to defend the innocent. Ask any Allied soldier in Iraq and he will tell you that he believes that he is defending his country, he is bringing democracy to Iraq, and generally trying to enforce the peace so that people may live together and grow. Angelina is a humanitarian, but ain’t no pacifist. Killing for self defence is entirely legitimate.

(2) Angelina is American and in America, guns are very much part of the culture and way of life for a very significant percentage of the population. I remember 10 years ago, talking to some american colleagues (well travelled engineers, accountants and people you’d never describe as rednecked). More than half assured me that they owned one or more guns - just for hunting purposes - as if that was supposed to make me feel better that these guys found pleasure in killing bambi and his mummy.

(3) Angelina is part of hollywood. Hollywood responds to culture and also shapes culture. hollywood makes a lot of movies where people run around shooting at each other and blowing things up. I mean, for heavens sakes, some people are still wanting Dirty Harry to make their day. It’s not as if Hollywood really make kung fu movies like they do in Hong Kong with lots of kicking and magic and flying and NO GUNS. Angelina is in movies where she runs around and shoots people and she likes being in some of those movies. Angelina isnt going to be a hypocrite and then turn around to her children and say “oh, guns are bad bad bad”. You can expect a far more nuanced and reasoned response from her.

(4) having said all of the above, I used to criticise the American gun culture but I’ve since stopped after my discussion with my american colleagues. Because these american colleagues asked me if I watched the shoot em up movies - and I do, I enjoy them immensely. What are these movies if not a glorification of guns and arms and weapons of all sort?? So, am I not part of the culture that glorifies guns and blowing up things? I watched ironman, I watched Indiana Jone, I watched men in black, and on and on it goes. I’ve lost count. I’ll be watching Wanted. They all involve guns, weapons and blowing people and things up. Plenty of stunts and violence.

(5) We could of course, ban our children from watching any gun fights, any movies or cartoons where guns are used. But I wonder if that is a good idea and if it would make any difference. I grew up in south east asia we didn’t have TV until I was 7 or 8. And yet, I spent many a happy afternoon playing “guns” and “fighting” with my male cousins. I remember back in the 60s, my male cousins had these toy guns in which you’d insert a thin roll of paper which had dots of gun powder. Everytime you pulled the trigger, the roll of paper would unspool and if hammer hit one of the dots of gun powder (which they did half the time), you’ll get a loud bang and smoke will appear from the gun. loved those because they were sooo real.

Personally, I think that it’s better to educate our children, not with absolutes but with the nuances. If you are american, the nuances may be challenging when that nice Mr Smith who coaches little league and is so kind and funny, also happens to own 3 guns - for hunting and when you just took them to see Iron man last week. But clearly, to recoil in horror at your child delighting in playing guns seems to be an over reaction - rather like prohibiting your children from eating any sweets or junk food. All it will probably do is cause your child to have eating disorders later in life.

hey guys, just curious did no one catch the VF article’s derogatory tone, or that the author still seems to imply over and over gain that Angie stole Brad from aniston? like in his high school analogy? i am very surprised about how subtly unfriendly and distancing this article is- i hope Angelina will not give them another interview. Although the pics are fun.

bisous from france

Hi, everyone, I have been away in Atlanta, Ga for a conference. Although I could read what was going on the internet was unable to comment. Can not imagine how Angie and Brad can do! The media is always in their business!!!!!! The birth thing is as funny as the wedding.
I agree, I do not really like this interview. It does not flow and he does seem to equate that there was an affair and that she stole Brad from Jen. His interview seems a little sarcastic.
Paragraph about M/Mrs Smith: where he states that “First you get to see the courtship, on-screen, of the two of the biggest stars of the day; the very moment they fall in love, so the very moment Aniston is torpedoed, sent tumbling to the reef. I really do think this relationship, the fact that Jolie seemed to just go over and take him, is part of her aura. It is a terrific career move, evern if she did not mean it to be. It gave her a sheen of invincibility.” Also did not like the cheerleader scenario. I do agree where he said that “it has been a hectic few years for the 33 year old…….dominated tabloids, in which her history and every move have been carefully analyzed.
Also some confusion, he stated that the girls went with her to D.C. and Brad took the boys to L.A.? Thought the boys went to DC and they were seen at one of the Smithsonian museums?
I really did not like this guy’s interview style. Not smooth or positive at all. Did not like the statement about her dressed in a silky maternity dress under a blue blazer, the sort worn by stand up comics and Frankenstein.

Already see a troll is complaining just because Angie said that they celebrate “Kwanzaa for their girl”. I am sure people will pick the interview apart as they do in all of her interviews.

The pics are fantastic and I think they are suppose to show her ability to play different characters. I really liked the previous “Vanity Fair pics” a lot especially the one of her with Brad on the motorcycle.
Get ready Jolie-Pitt fans for the onslaught of negative comments and the picking to sheds of this interview, each statement being over analyzed.
I think Angie looks beautiful and what I love about her is her honesty . There is no one else like her. Barbara Walters stated that in her book that what she liked about Angie was her honesty.
Interesting statement that “talking to Angelina in 2008 is like talking to Elizabeth Taylor in 1951 etc. Here is the star at its peak, neither climbing nor descending.” I think Angie will always be followed by the press because she is different and does not fit any mold. She is not dull or boring at all. This is what attracts people to her.
I am so glad she is with Brad for he had a family life with a mom and dad and stability. This is what Angie did not have.
I will buy the magazine and see their movies.
Love the green hair.

Brad and Mad looked great together. Love seeing
