OlderBrad Pitt’s Table for Two
Brad Pitt picks up a few pieces of contemporary “design art” furniture at the Design Miami/Basel fair held at the 1920s domed Markethalle in Basel, Switzerland on Tuesday.
The father-of-almost-six paid $293,000 for a hollow white marble rococo-style table by the Dutch designer Jeroen Verhoeven at the booth of the London-based Carpenters Workshop Gallery. The 4-foot-long “Cinderella Table,” from an edition of six, is hewn from a solid block of Carrara marble.
Mr. Pitt also ordered a rug made of aluminum thread from New York dealer Cristina Grajales, said director Elizabeth Murphy. The “Silver Sky” rug, created by Colombian designer Jorge Lizarazo and woven by the Colombian-based studio Hechizoo, will be priced at a rate of $175 per square foot.
Brad was also interested in a gold lacquer-coated Fiberglas sofa by Zaha Hadid, offered by London-based dealer Kenny Schachter at $300,000.

Our first fundraiser was incredible. On November 17th, 2007 we held the first annual Project Water Dinner Gala at Erie’s new Bayfront Convention Center. We were the most appreciative hosts of 730 guests which represented dozens of businesses and corporations, churches, students and families from the Erie area and beyond.
Through their generosity we were able to raise more than $200,000 and with that money are now able to drill about a dozen fresh water wells throughout the continent of Africa.
With some match funding we were also able to purchase our first Africa 6000 International drilling rig.
We were also honored to have “The Brothers” as we affectionately referred to them, as our guest speakers at the dinner gala. Doug Pitt, one of our directors, happens to be the brother of actor Brad Pitt. Both he and actor James Haven, brother of Angelina Jolie took the stage together to talk about their passion for Africa and its people. Doug is also a professional photographer and had on display a collection of photos recently taken in villages throughout Tanzania and Kenya.
Mark your calendars. The second annual Africa 6000 International “Project Water” Dinner Gala Fundraiser has been scheduled for Saturday November 22, 2009, again at Erie’s Bayfront Convention Center.

I love that table. Wish I could touch the marble. Hollow out table. Very interesting concept. There is so much to do in Europe, and everything is so near by. You can just hop on/hop off anywhere, in no time.
actually, buying art is an investment. He seems to prefer to buy artistic furniture than just the typical sculptures or paintings. Many things that are collectable (sp?) get high prices on the market later. They just have to be auctioned and rich art dealers and aficionados will show up.

Jack Black finally came clean Wednesday about who’s to blame for telling the world that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are expecting twins.
“It’s my wife’s fault,” the comedian and star of “Kung Fu Panda” told TODAY’s Ann Curry in New York. “Tanya told me like it was common knowledge, because she’s a triplet and she’s interested in that. So I filed it away for something to talk about later if I met Angelina.”
As luck would have it, on May 15 Black and Jolie, his co-star in the animated movie, sat down with TODAY’s Natalie Morales at the Cannes Film Festival to talk about “Kung Fu Panda.” And Black, blithely unaware that Jolie and Pitt hadn’t told anyone that they were, indeed, expecting twins, “spilled the beans.”
“Whoops,” Black said Wednesday.
“There we were on [TODAY], and I said, ‘Ah! So, it’s going to be like ‘The Brady Bunch’ with your twins that are coming,’ ” he recalled. “And then she’s like, ‘Uh… oh… I wasn’t going to say that.’ And then I was like the bean spiller.”
‘I did it for her’
Black said his discomfort was short-lived. “She was actually relieved,” he reported of Jolie. “She wanted to spill the beans and didn’t know how to, and I did it for her.”

Thanks for the link to the article about Doug and James’s Water Project. It was a very good read. It is good to see the family bonding and working together. It must put a blow into the whiny hens’ heart to know that the families are working together for good causes. Oh well, they are still in denial so it does not matter. However, it is a great cause and I am glad they are being sucessful with it.

Despite having been with Irish-actor boyfriend Stuart Townsend for seven years, Charlize Theron feels no seven-year itch to wander – or to get married, either.
“I think if you are in a one- or two-year relationship, love is enough. You can thrive on that,” the Monster Oscar winner, 32, tells Glamour for its July issue.
But, adds Theron, “when you hit years three and four, you realize that if you’re going to live with somebody … you have to be nurtured emotionally and spiritually, and you have to be intrigued. Because if that intrigue runs out, you’re not going to want to go home anymore.”
As for why Townsend is the special one for her, Theron says, “He’s got beautiful feet and hands.”

“Extra” was first to debunk the story of the twins’ birth, and the entertainment show that started the false rumor is not backing down — despite a warning from Jolie’s lawyers that someone is posing as a close confidante of the actress. Reportedly, the so-called source is engaging in “a torturous impersonation of Ms. Jolie’s longtime assistant, Holly,” says Angie’s lawyer.

#159: oh, I believe you, soopx. My aunt and uncle plus my male cousins don’t ever go to church yet they’re good people. My cousins’ wives and kids go every Sunday though. All the kids go to Catholic schools and my aunt and uncle pays for the whole lot and are very good at charitable works. I know many more people like them, as a matter of fact.
I just wanted to correct the notion by some trolls that Angie and Brad have no intention of going to church. There must be some sort of religious instructions that have sunk in since they were both raised by believers in religion.

Brad has had a furniture/lamp collection since he started making good money. He spoke about it in an interview a number of years ago. The interviewer noted that Brad’s collection if sold on the open market would be worth millions. Brad said that he had so many chairs he would either have to sell some of them or open up a museum.
Lastly don’t assume Brad brought all those things for himself. Could be part of of Dubai designer job. Didn’t the article note that GRAFT and Brad would have input on the outside and inside? There is going to be a presentation soon which would probably include what type on furniture/art they want to put in the rooms

NEW YORK - “Entertainment Tonight” aired a story about the birth of Angelina Jolie’s twins despite being repeatedly told beforehand that the report was based on information from someone impersonating Jolie’s assistant, according to documents and two people with knowledge of the exchange.
The celebrity newsmagazine denied Wednesday that it knew about an impostor before the broadcast. The identity of the impostor remained unknown.
On Friday morning, the show posted a story on its Web site and sent an e-mail alert to media outlets saying it had confirmed the birth of Jolie’s twins. The Associated Press picked up the report.
“Entertainment Tonight” did not name its source at the time. It later revealed that the report was based on e-mails from someone it thought was Jolie assistant Holly Goline.
Shortly after the story was posted but several hours before the broadcast aired, Goline told “Entertainment Tonight” that she was not the person with whom they had been corresponding, a person with direct knowledge of the conversation told The Associated Press. That account was confirmed by another person close to Jolie.
“‘Entertainment Tonight’ was told before the broadcast that their information came from an impostor,” said the second person. Both people spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to comment publicly.
The people said there were several conversations Friday, by e-mail, text message and telephone, between Goline and “Entertainment Tonight.” Meanwhile, the story was quickly challenged by several other celebrity news outlets.
The TV show stood by its story Friday night, with host Mary Hart saying on the air, “Just this morning, a source who says she was inside the delivery room tells us yes, the babies were born and yes, mother and babies are fine.”
Later that night, the manager of Jolie’s partner, Brad Pitt, told AP that the babies had not been born.
The show said in a statement Wednesday that it first learned of an impostor from a letter from Jolie’s attorney Monday - three days after the broadcast.
“‘Entertainment Tonight’ takes this very seriously and is, of course, concerned that the show may have been victimized by someone allegedly posing as a member of Ms. Jolie’s team,” the statement said. “We are actively investigating the matter and are reaching out to law enforcement agencies.”
The show has not mentioned the story on the air since the initial report, and the story has been deleted from its Web site.
The 27-year-old program is the top-rated entertainment newsmagazine on television, with an average nightly audience of 6.6 million viewers, more than double any competitors. The twins, who Jolie says are due in August, are one of the biggest stories of the year in celebrity journalism, with their first photographs expected to fetch at least $10 million. (The first pictures of Shiloh Jolie-Pitt reportedly fetched a $4 million donation to charity from People magazine.)
The mystery of who was sending the e-mail fit perfectly into the world of celebrity gossip, in which rumor and thirdhand sources coalesce into “facts” at the speed of the Internet. Even before the “Entertainment Tonight” report, there were international rumors of the twins’ birth, possibly started by an OK! magazine story that did not report the babies were born, but speculated on possible names.
According to an “ET” executive, the report of the twins’ birth began with Sharlette Hambrick, an “ET” producer. Hambrick told the show that she had obtained a BlackBerry e-mail address for Goline from a contact at CNN, according to the executive, who spoke on condition of anonymity because she was not authorized to release the information.
According to e-mails provided to AP by the show, Hambrick sent a message to the BlackBerry address asking for confirmation of “reports swirling” that Jolie had given birth.
The reply came back: “Yes she did. I was actually in the room with her. They are doing fine and so is mom.”
Goline has never had a BlackBerry e-mail account, one of the people with knowledge of the exchange said. Hambrick referred a call from The Associated Press to the show’s public relations representative.

From auction to fair: Roman Abramovich brings Basel to life

Billionaire businessman and owner of Chelsea Football Club Roman Abramovich and his partner Daria “Dasha” Zhukova caused a tremendous stir—more even than superstar actor Brad Pitt—when they arrived at Art Basel yesterday. This is believed to be the couple’s first appearance at an art fair, and came less than a month after Mr Abramovich spent $120m at the spring New York auctions on a Francis Bacon and a Lucian Freud.
Also spotted at the fair was Sheikh Saud Al-Thani, cousin of the Emir of Qatar, who is a contemporary art collector although better known for his previous collecting on behalf of the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha.
Dealers were thrilled by the presence of Mr Abramovich and Ms Zhukova, until now only known to buy at auction. “I was pleased to see him, looking at things very seriously,” said David Juda, (2.0/G1) of London’s Annely Juda Fine Art. “Some other collectors only go to auction.”
A trio of Alberto Giacometti bronzes at Krugier’s stand (2.0/B4) are believed to have caught Mr Abramovich’s eye. The largest of the three, Femme de Venise I, 1956, is priced at $14m, while the smaller 1958 Femme Debout is priced at $8m. He is believed to be “seriously considering” a purchase, according to a source. Giacometti was one of the stars of the recent New York contemporary sales when a sculpture fetched a record $27.5m at Christie’s on 6 May. Mr Abramovich also paused to admire works by Marc Chagall and Alexej von Jawlensky at Galerie Thomas (2.0/ P2).
His presence provided a welcome burst of confidence for dealers faced with fewer American collectors. “With the strong euro and weak dollar, Americans, even the rich ones, are complaining for the first time,” said New York collector and banker Gilbert Harrison, chairman of Financo.
Donald Bryant, who owns works by Jasper Johns, Ellsworth Kelly and Willem de Kooning, said finding value today requires selectivity. “The secondary market prices are out of control,” says Mr Bryant. “With the primary market you are more likely to get a real price.”
The divide between gallery and auction prices has accelerated in recent years, boosted by new collectors. As auction prices have soared, retail art shopping can look like a bargain. PaceWildenstein had a painting by Chinese artist Zhang Xiaogang, which sold for under $1m, according to the gallery’s Susan Dunne. His record price at auction, for an older work, is $6.1m.
“The big collectors come to Basel because they know they are going to be seeing great art,” said Sam Keller, the former Art Basel director, now head of the Fondation Beyeler. “But if you have a relationship with the dealer, you may well be able to buy that art cheaper than on the secondary auction market.”
Ms Zhukova plans to open the Center for Contemporary Culture Moscow in September. She will mount international contemporary art exhibitions in an 85,000 sq. foot industrial 1927 bus garage designed by a noted constructivist architect. Mollie Dent-Brocklehurst, a former Gagosian director who has been hired to manage the centre’s programmes, escorted the couple through the fair.
Mr Abramovich’s interest ranged from the organic and edgy—a $70,000 snake-like sculpture by Brazilian artist Ernesto Neto at Galerie Max Hetzler (2.0/Q2)—to a Picasso drawing at Acquavella Galleries. (2.0/R1). Having paid a record $33.6m for Freud’s Benefits Supervisor Sleeping, 1995, at Christie’s in New York last month, Mr Abramovich also priced the Freud paintings on offer at Acquavella.
With the Euro 2008 football championship arriving in Basel on Saturday, some dealers who missed Mr Abramovich regretted the missed opportunity—and not only his buying power. “I wish I’d known he was here,” said dealer Roland Augustine of Luhring Augustine (2.0/P4). “I would have tried to get soccer tickets.”

Pitt treated bike-fan Maddox to a day at Mugello race track on Sunday (1Jun08) after jetting their in helicopter from the couple’s retreat in the south of France.
And the six-year-old got up close to the action and the riders, including seven-times world champ Rossi, who told Us Weekly, “Brad said Maddox is very interested in bikes. We might have another champion on our hands.”

Jolie confidants: ‘ET’ knew twins source fake
“Entertainment Tonight” aired a story about the birth of Angelina Jolie’s twins despite being repeatedly told beforehand that the report was based on information from someone impersonating Jolie’s assistant, according to documents and two people with knowledge of the exchange.
The celebrity newsmagazine denied Wednesday that it knew about an impostor before the broadcast. The identity of the impostor remained unknown.
On Friday morning, the show posted a story on its Web site and sent an e-mail alert to media outlets saying it had confirmed the birth of Jolie’s twins. The Associated Press picked up the report.
“Entertainment Tonight” did not name its source at the time. It later revealed that the report was based on e-mails from someone it thought was Jolie assistant Holly Goline.
Shortly after the story was posted but several hours before the broadcast aired, Goline told “Entertainment Tonight” that she was not the person with whom they had been corresponding, a person with direct knowledge of the conversation told The Associated Press. That account was confirmed by another person close to Jolie.
“‘Entertainment Tonight’ was told before the broadcast that their information came from an impostor,” said the second person. Both people spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to comment publicly.
The people said there were several conversations Friday, by e-mail, text message and telephone, between Goline and “Entertainment Tonight.” Meanwhile, the story was quickly challenged by several other celebrity news outlets.
The TV show stood by its story Friday night, with host Mary Hart saying on the air, “Just this morning, a source who says she was inside the delivery room tells us yes, the babies were born and yes, mother and babies are fine.”
Later that night, the manager of Jolie’s partner, Brad Pitt, told AP that the babies had not been born.
The show said in a statement Wednesday that it first learned of an impostor from a letter from Jolie’s attorney Monday three days after the broadcast.
“‘Entertainment Tonight’ takes this very seriously and is, of course, concerned that the show may have been victimized by someone allegedly posing as a member of Ms. Jolie’s team,” the statement said. “We are actively investigating the matter and are reaching out to law enforcement agencies.”
The show has not mentioned the story on the air since the initial report, and the story has been deleted from its Web site.
The 27-year-old program is the top-rated entertainment newsmagazine on television, with an average nightly audience of 6.6 million viewers, more than double any competitors. The twins, who Jolie says are due in August, are one of the biggest stories of the year in celebrity journalism, with their first photographs expected to fetch at least $10 million. (The first pictures of Shiloh Jolie-Pitt reportedly fetched a $4 million donation to charity from People magazine.)
The mystery of who was sending the e-mail fit perfectly into the world of celebrity gossip, in which rumor and thirdhand sources coalesce into “facts” at the speed of the Internet. Even before the “Entertainment Tonight” report, there were international rumors of the twins’ birth, possibly started by an OK! magazine story that did not report the babies were born, but speculated on possible names.
According to an “ET” executive, the report of the twins’ birth began with Sharlette Hambrick, an “ET” producer. Hambrick told the show that she had obtained a BlackBerry e-mail address for Goline from a contact at CNN, according to the executive, who spoke on condition of anonymity because she was not authorized to release the information.
According to e-mails provided to AP by the show, Hambrick sent a message to the BlackBerry address asking for confirmation of “reports swirling” that Jolie had given birth.
The reply came back: “Yes she did. I was actually in the room with her. They are doing fine and so is mom.”
Goline has never had a BlackBerry e-mail account, one of the people with knowledge of the exchange said. Hambrick referred a call from The Associated Press to the show’s public relations representative.
Shortly after “Entertainment Tonight” posted the story, Hambrick called the real Goline seeking more details, and Goline told her verbally and through text messages that Hambrick had been dealing with an impostor, the people with knowledge of the exchange said.
E-mails obtained by AP show that Hambrick sent a message to Goline’s real e-mail address showing the exchange with the impostor, asking “Are you saying this is now not your e-mail address? That you did not send me these e-mails?”
Goline responded: “This is not my e-mail.”

Jolie confidants: ‘ET’ knew twins source fake

“Entertainment Tonight” aired a story about the birth of Angelina Jolie’s twins despite being repeatedly told beforehand that the report was based on information from someone impersonating Jolie’s assistant, according to documents and two people with knowledge of the exchange.
The celebrity newsmagazine denied Wednesday that it knew about an impostor before the broadcast. The identity of the impostor remained unknown.
On Friday morning, the show posted a story on its Web site and sent an e-mail alert to media outlets saying it had confirmed the birth of Jolie’s twins. The Associated Press picked up the report.
Entertainment Tonight” did not name its source at the time. It later revealed that the report was based on e-mails from someone it thought was Jolie assistant Holly Goline.
Shortly after the story was posted but several hours before the broadcast aired, Goline told “Entertainment Tonight” that she was not the person with whom they had been corresponding, a person with direct knowledge of the conversation told The Associated Press. That account was confirmed by another person close to Jolie.
“‘Entertainment Tonight’ was told before the broadcast that their information came from an impostor,” said the second person. Both people spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to comment publicly.
The people said there were several conversations Friday, by e-mail, text message and telephone, between Goline and “Entertainment Tonight.” Meanwhile, the story was quickly challenged by several other celebrity news outlets.
The TV show stood by its story Friday night, with host Mary Hart saying on the air, “Just this morning, a source who says she was inside the delivery room tells us yes, the babies were born and yes, mother and babies are fine.”
Later that night, the manager of Jolie’s partner, Brad Pitt, told AP that the babies had not been born.
The show said in a statement Wednesday that it first learned of an impostor from a letter from Jolie’s attorney Monday three days after the broadcast.
“‘Entertainment Tonight’ takes this very seriously and is, of course, concerned that the show may have been victimized by someone allegedly posing as a member of Ms. Jolie’s team,” the statement said. “We are actively investigating the matter and are reaching out to law enforcement agencies.”
The show has not mentioned the story on the air since the initial report, and the story has been deleted from its Web site.
The 27-year-old program is the top-rated entertainment newsmagazine on television, with an average nightly audience of 6.6 million viewers, more than double any competitors. The twins, who Jolie says are due in August, are one of the biggest stories of the year in celebrity journalism, with their first photographs expected to fetch at least $10 million. (The first pictures of Shiloh Jolie-Pitt reportedly fetched a $4 million donation to charity from People magazine.)
The mystery of who was sending the e-mail fit perfectly into the world of celebrity gossip, in which rumor and thirdhand sources coalesce into “facts” at the speed of the Internet. Even before the “Entertainment Tonight” report, there were international rumors of the twins’ birth, possibly started by an OK! magazine story that did not report the babies were born, but speculated on possible names.
According to an “ET” executive, the report of the twins’ birth began with Sharlette Hambrick, an “ET” producer. Hambrick told the show that she had obtained a BlackBerry e-mail address for Goline from a contact at CNN, according to the executive, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to release the information.
According to e-mails provided to AP by the show, Hambrick sent a message to the BlackBerry address asking for confirmation of “reports swirling” that Jolie had given birth.
The reply came back: “Yes she did. I was actually in the room with her. They are doing fine and so is mom.”
Goline has never had a BlackBerry e-mail account, one of the people with knowledge of the exchange said. Hambrick referred a call from The Associated Press to the show’s public relations representative.
Shortly after “Entertainment Tonight” posted the story, Hambrick called the real Goline seeking more details, and Goline told her verbally and through text messages that Hambrick had been dealing with an impostor, the people with knowledge of the exchange said.
E-mails obtained by AP show that Hambrick sent a message to Goline’s real e-mail address showing the exchange with the impostor, asking “Are you saying this is now not your e-mail address? That you did not send me these e-mails?”
Goline responded: “This is not my e-mail.”

Angie has always said that one of the reasons she liked living in Europe is that it’s so easy to get to other parts of the world from there. Europe is NOT that big. There are a lot of places they can visit that are going to be day trips. Brad may stay overnight in Venice for the film fest because that’s a 2-day event. But anything else - unless they’re taking a couple of days alone together - they can fly just about anywhere in Europe and return home the same day. Most of Europe is in the same time zone, too, so no jet lag.

While not exactly issuing a retraction, the stalwart celebrity-news show released a statement Wednesday saying its ultimately faulty story about Jolie’s twins being born was the result of a hoax perpetrated by someone who has been impersonating Jolie’s longtime assistant via email.
“Entertainment Tonight takes this very seriously and is, of course, concerned that the show may have been victimized by someone allegedly posing as a member of Ms. Jolie’s team,” the statement said. “We are actively investigating the matter and are reaching out to law enforcement agencies.”
A rep for the show also said they did not know about the existence of an imposter until Monday, when Jolie’s attorneys circulated a letter to media outlets warning them of the ersatz employee.
But sources have told the Associated Press (which ran with ET’s “scoop”) that ET was told after its online story went up-but before airtime Friday-that the information was no good.
According to an ET executive, a producer on the show obtained the impostor’s BlackBerry email from a contact at CNN. When the faux assistant was asked via email whether rumors that Jolie had given birth were true, he/she replied in the affirmative.
ETonline.com ran with the Jolie story early Friday, attributing the info to an anonymous source who claimed to have been in the delivery room when the births took place.
But as reps for the couple, including Jolie and Brad Pitt’s respective managers, started issuing one official denial after another and various other media outlets, including E! Online, began confirming that the buns were still safely in Jolie’s oven, the story disappeared from ET’s website.
However, on Friday’s episode of ET, anchor Mary Hart said on air: “Just this morning, a source who says she was inside the delivery room tells us, ‘Yes, the babies were born and, yes, mother and babies are fine.’”
According to the AP’s sources, meanwhile, Holly Goline, Jolie’s actual longtime assistant, informed the ET producer that she was not the person on the other end of that bogus email address before Friday’s broadcast.

It’s sad to say but I have serious doubts that ET or any other entertainment news outlet will conduct a serious, thorough investigation into the legitimacy of their sources. The JPs are the big get and these hosers don’t care whether the information that falls into their laps is accurate or not.
I would be completely floored if this imposter is exposed, but I would be shocked if a full list of people/news outlets this person provided information to is exposed as well. Because I have a definite feeling that a certain T*erd would be on the list.
It’s sad that ET is the poster children for hiring journalistic incompetence.
