Brad Pitt’s Table for Two

Brad Pitt’s Table for Two

Brad Pitt picks up a few pieces of contemporary “design art” furniture at the Design Miami/Basel fair held at the 1920s domed Markethalle in Basel, Switzerland on Tuesday.

The father-of-almost-six paid $293,000 for a hollow white marble rococo-style table by the Dutch designer Jeroen Verhoeven at the booth of the London-based Carpenters Workshop Gallery. The 4-foot-long “Cinderella Table,” from an edition of six, is hewn from a solid block of Carrara marble.

Mr. Pitt also ordered a rug made of aluminum thread from New York dealer Cristina Grajales, said director Elizabeth Murphy. The “Silver Sky” rug, created by Colombian designer Jorge Lizarazo and woven by the Colombian-based studio Hechizoo, will be priced at a rate of $175 per square foot.

Brad was also interested in a gold lacquer-coated Fiberglas sofa by Zaha Hadid, offered by London-based dealer Kenny Schachter at $300,000.

BTW, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ANGELINA JOLIE! She turns 33 today.

From aol: Blunt-tongued Brit Rupert Everett has lashed out at Americans, calling them “blobby” and “whiney,” says AfterElton. His rant chastises the U.S. for its reaction to 9/11; he goes on to criticize Bush, ‘Friends’ and ‘Sex and the City.’ He must’ve been having a bad hair day. (June 6)

He’s an *******, but the part about ‘Friends,’ is right on. LOL ;-)

New tab lie-

Brad and Angie have reserved 10 rooms at Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco. Stupid liars, this is a public hospital and rooms cannot be reserved. I see why Brad has decided not to use a publicist to even try to respond to all these lies, why bother. These lies they are like Medusa’s heads, cut one off and others spring up immediately, like anyone with any sense would believe that they would spend $140,000 on a nursery for the twins. Just ignore them and live your life as best you can seems to be Brad and Angie’s way.

Forbes Celebrity 100 Drop-Offs
Lacey Rose 06.10.08, 12:01 AM ET

To many in Hollywood, it was a year filled with tension, frustration and picket lines. For one of the town’s top-paid actors, Tom Hanks, it was also the year of a lost paycheck.

If all had gone as planned, the 51-year-old star would have reprised his high-profile–and highly lucrative–role as Dr. Robert Langdon in Sony’s (nyse: SNE - news - people ) silver screen adaptation of Angels & Demons, the prequel to Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code. But the 100-day writers’ strike, which ended in February, prompted nervous studio executives to shelve the project to await script revisions. (The movie finally began filming in early June, just after the cutoff for this year’s Celebrity 100 list, Forbes’ annual ranking of the most powerful celebrities on the planet.)

But Hanks didn’t sit idly. He produced a slew of upcoming flicks, including Mamma Mia! and Where the Wild Things Are. In a case of art imitating life, he played the onscreen dad to his real-life son Colin in The Great Buck Howard, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. And in late 2007, he headlined Charlie Wilson’s War, a star-studded political drama with Julia Roberts and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Despite a lackluster box office (the film generated only $117 million globally, according to Box Office Mojo), the film earned him a Golden Globe nomination.

But all of that wasn’t enough to secure a spot on Forbes’ Celebrity 100, which measures both earnings and buzz. Hanks falls off the list from his No. 11 spot last year.

Hanks is only one of many “A-list” names to drop off this year’s list. Also unable to keep up with the Celebrity 100 set: bold-faced beauty Scarlett Johansson and Indy car driver Danica Patrick. Despite a buzz-worthy movie from the former ( The Other Boleyn Girl) and an Indy car race win in Japan for the latter (the first female to do so), both came up short this year.

The reality: It takes more than big earnings to land a star on Forbes’ annual power list. If it were up to income alone, Adam Sandler, who banked $30 million in the past year, would surely have scored a spot. Nor is publicity alone enough. Despite the tabloid buzz surrounding Jessica Alba’s ever-expanding baby bump and under-the-radar nuptials, the Fantastic Four star didn’t make this year’s cut.

Instead, the Forbes Celebrity 100 factors in both total earnings and an ability to generate buzz, as measured by TV, print and radio mentions; Web hits; and cover appearances in 55 major magazines.

Among this year’s castoffs is Jeff Foxworthy, senior statesman of the Blue Collar Comedy tour and the best-selling comedy recording artist in history. While still a powerhouse on the stand-up circuit, Foxworthy’s reality series, Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?, fell in the ratings during its second season. Only 9 million viewers tuned in, compared with 12.5 million for the prior season, according to Nielsen Media Research. Without the publicity that comes with ratings success, the funnyman–who still managed to earn $13 million–didn’t make the list.

Same goes for Jessica Simpson, who has suffered at the box office this year. Her most recent star vehicle, the romantic comedy Blonde Ambition, earned less than $50 per theater (ouch!) in its opening weekend. The blond bombshell will try again with her upcoming flick Major Movie Star, where she plays a spoiled actress who accidentally enlists in the army. Offscreen, the Texas-born singer turned actress will return to her roots with a country album, set for a September release.

next few months.jennifer will start filming the GAMBIT> see itold you they are preparing right now.hahaha.go jen!after all this movie.she will be the most important actress in hollywood!

ANISTON THE FUCKTARD! @ 06/10/2008 at 10:50 pm

go jen.were excited.and brad fans will hate you more with this movie.and their bp is in the highest of all level that your career and your movie coming out is going to be gr8!. critics will love you.

steve Zahn @ 06/10/2008 at 10:55 pm

are you ready for the 19th of Sep ?
The Management will be a huge hit

Hmm Tom hanks really should not be out of the top 10. I think the fact that he signed on for Angels & Demons close to the print date made him drop off but he got 50 million for that film not including back end profits. He and jack Nicholson hhold records for salaries for films. Tom got 70 million for Forrest Gump and Jack Nicholson got 75 million for plying the Joker.

Oxygen has their top 24 Power Hollywood couples on now. Number 3 was Gyllensppon, number 2 is Posh & Becks and I guess number one is Brad & Angelina.

ET: STILL SEEING IMAGINARY TWINS!

Despite repeated official denials by Brangelina’s reps, Entertainment Tonight is still seeing something that isn’t there — the birth of Angelina’s Twins!

ET’s alleged “source” for the phony report has been exposed as a scam artist impersonating Angelina’s assistant Holly Goline. And yet the fluffy entertainment show refuses to admit it was wrong — more than a week later!

“No one has seen Angelina in the last two weeks,” Mary Hart told a newspaper just the other day.

(NOTE TO MARY: Angelina is at home resting. How do we know? Because The ENQUIRER sent a reporter to France and talked to several people who have seen her!)

More from Mary: “We’re trying to get to the bottom of it. We don’t want to be inaccurate.”

(ANOTHER NOTE TO MARY: You are a TV show that most of the time merely repeats what celebrities and their official representatives tell you. Of course you’re inaccurate! Now we’ve gotten to the bottom of it!)

EVEN MORE FROM MARY: “I hope that the babies were born when we said they were and that we had our facts straight.”

(AND YET ANOTHER NOTE TO MARY: Keep hope alive.)

Mary’s final statement: “I have never retracted a story in 26 years, but all I can do now is wait and see.”

(FINAL NOTE TO MARY: Never retracted a story in 26 years? Wow, that’s better than The New York Times! Oh, wait, you didn’t say you never got a story wrong…)
