OlderDavid Archuleta Signs Record Deal
American Idol sensation David Archuleta has signed to 19 Recordings/Jive Records and is expected to release his debut album later this year.
“Signing a record contract with 19 Recordings/Jive Records is truly a dream come true,” states Archuleta. “Being a fan of American Idol since season one and admiring the alumni, I am honored and humbled to be a part of that group. I’m really excited to start working on everything.”
Simon Fuller, creator of the popular TV series and chief executive and founder of 19 Entertainment Label Group, adds, “It was fascinating to watch David’s journey through Idol. He is a genuine pop star, and is a gifted singer who instantly won over a huge audience when he first appeared on the show. Since then, he has dealt with the pressure and the high level of expectation with real fortitude; he’s given us some of the best performances of the season. Without question David Archuleta has a great future ahead of him”.
Tom Carrabba, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Jive/Zomba Label Group comments, “David Archuleta has already shown the world that he is a star. He’s a young, talented singer with wide appeal and we’re thrilled to have him join our roster.”
Archuleta, 17, was the runner-up on the current season of Idol and is currently gearing up for the upcoming Idol tour, which kicks off on July 1st in Glendale, AZ.

that’s funny everyone says he doesn’t have the right voice “to listen on the radio” because his voice is amazing. he has a greater range (vocals) than Cook does. Not to say anything bad about Cook because I personally love both of them and wish them nothing but the best. (I would buy both their albums, and I never buy CDs anymore so that’s saying something.)
But back to his voice on the radio. I can’t wait to hear that! His voice is amazing, like that of Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera. His musical career seems to be taking the same path as Christina’s did, and I hope he will be as successful. You guys really need to stop hating. If you want bubblegum garbage, synthetic voices and trashy whores, go find a Britney Spears board-or that of any other useless, undeserving piece of trash-to discuss what phenomenal abilities she has, and leave people like him (who REALLY deserve success) alone.

This kid sucks. He has a good voice, of course. But does he have star quality and charisma… HELL NO! Versatile… don’t think so. Does he have the “wow” factor… NO! The kid can’t even speak properly when under pressure. He’s not articulate whatsoever. Even Jordin Sparks was able to maintain composure and properly present herself. This kid can’t.
He’ll flop no doubt. I bet he wont even reach Platinum status… Gold mabye… but that’s about it. He’ll be dropped from his label soon enough.
Enjoy your 15 mins of fame. When the new season of AI comes around, everybody will forget about him.
hey britney spears does not suck, shes just messed up. and youre pointing the argument away from david to britney - which is a red herring. saying that i would rather listen to “trash” like britney instead of david archuleta is hypocritical and presumptuous. I have absolutely nothing against david, and i truly mean that, i am just saying that although his voice is “godly” as everyone thinks, i cannot picture it or imagine hearing that type of voice on the radio. it just wouldn’t work. And i like britney spears music, thankyou very little!
