Ryan Phillippe keeps his arm wrapped around his leading lady, Abbie Cornish, at the Australians In Film 2008 “Breakthrough Awards” at the Avalon Hotel on Thursday in Los Angeles.
Phillippe came out to show his support as Stop-Loss director Kimberly Peirce presented Abbie with a boomerang statue of the 2008 Breakthrough Award. Both Ryan, 33, and Abbie, 25, starred in Stop-Loss, which came out earlier this year.
Abbie has been under much scrutiny in recent times, having been the rumored driving force behind Ryan and Reese Witherspoon’s much-publicized divorce.
UPDATE: Ryan rubbed Abbie’s back while she leaned against his shoulder. Throughout the evening, they even held hands. “They were adorable,” a guest at the ceremony told People. “He had his arm around her and they were cozy and comfortable.”

**** all the haters, I love Abbie and she makes a great couple with Ryan, Reese has already move on, and she seems to be happy with Jake Gyllenhall, why should Ryan stay alone and cry all day??
Who knows what happend in that marriage, they both deserve to be happy.

totally disagree you can’t judge him by a bunch of paprazzi pictures his interviews are so candid and interesting I just love the way he inteacts with Jimmy Kimmel and Howard Stern. You can tell he has a great sense of humor and is not impressed by himself at all.

Reese was attractive when she was younger, but now every time I see a photo of her or on film I get so distracted by her weird chin, she just looks so strange now!!!……I think Abbie looks very pretty and is a very good actress.
I don’t know If I’m the only one that noticed this, but Ryan & Reese’s marriage looked to headed toward divorce long BEFORE Abbie came into the picture. They simply weren’t right for each other.

Is it really necessary to keep comparing Abbie to Reese? She will never live up to American’s so called ’sweetheart.’ I like that Abbie and Ryan are low key and don’t feel the need to flash their relationship around like Reese and brokeback kid.
Why, if there is a broken marriage, and one of them cheated, we looked for excuses for the one who did it? Cheating is cheating. It doesn’t really matter with whom they did it.

Looking for excuses for whatever he did during the marriage is a sign of a total looser. If he had problems with Reese, then talk to her. If they could not solve it anymore, then leave the marriage. But cheating during the marriage, and then try to say: I am innocent? Man, I can not buy it.

The fact is that no one except Ryan and Abbie is sure if she broke up the marriage, she was very good in ‘Elizabeth, the Golden Age’, and just maybe it is love if he is not too concerned with her looks-as some people have suggested she is not attractive (I disagree as she looks like a normal, attractive woman and not a Hollywood plastic doll). Give them a break, people. Has anyone out there ever been unfairly judged?
Reese is better off without Ryan, he was not father material or husband material. Abby broke a marriage with children involved, yes Ryan as well hurt his own children by hooking up with her. She’s so shallow and gross. Reese now has a wonderful man who seems faithful and loves her children. By the way Reese is a better actress than Corny is, is far better looking than her, is very classy and well respected by others. Some women are simply to darn stupid and only think with their vaginas instead of the family with children involved.
How Jake and Reese live their life is a matter to be judged.

You people act like these are the first people who ever got divorced. Get a grip on yourselfs. They had a bad marriage and handled their breakup with total class and put their children first. They both seem like awesome parents and decent people.
I think from the outside it’s hard to say what exactly caused Ryan and Reese’s breakup. Though I am sure you cannot just put all the blame on Ryan’s new girlfriend and say it’s all her fault, if she hadn’t been there, they would have stayed together. There must have been some differences, as perhaps their different characters, that caused them to grow apart in the first place.
At least they both seem to be happy now with their new partners and are handling the situation very well concerning their children, givign them the opportunity to keep in good contact with both parents, so I think this situation is the best for everyone involved.

Reese is not that cute either. Ryan is better looking then both of these women but maybe he is not all about looks. Also when he got with Reese she was not skinny back in her Election/Cruel Intension days she had a full rounder face and some meat on her bones just like this Abbie. So maybe he really likes “real size” women not Hollywood bone racks.

It was reported that he was still calling Reese and telling her how much he loved her and that this girl meant nothing to him. How does that make her feel? She’s not smart at all.
