Ryan Phillippe keeps his arm wrapped around his leading lady, Abbie Cornish, at the Australians In Film 2008 “Breakthrough Awards” at the Avalon Hotel on Thursday in Los Angeles.
Phillippe came out to show his support as Stop-Loss director Kimberly Peirce presented Abbie with a boomerang statue of the 2008 Breakthrough Award. Both Ryan, 33, and Abbie, 25, starred in Stop-Loss, which came out earlier this year.
Abbie has been under much scrutiny in recent times, having been the rumored driving force behind Ryan and Reese Witherspoon’s much-publicized divorce.
UPDATE: Ryan rubbed Abbie’s back while she leaned against his shoulder. Throughout the evening, they even held hands. “They were adorable,” a guest at the ceremony told People. “He had his arm around her and they were cozy and comfortable.”

I wish Reese and Ryan both good though. I am thinking their children. as long as Ryan don’t make trouble to Reese. Reese and Ryan divorce is different from Brad and Jenn’s. I wish Reese and Ryan remain on good terms for their children’s sake.
BTW… I hate it when people twist and turn… First Ryan says he’s: ‘ not guilty of a lot of things he’s been accused of’, but he didn’t literally say: ‘I didn’t cheat on Reese’…. He’s been seen with several girls in the mean time, all al lot younger. But he wasn’t with Abbie, oh no…. Last December they were smoking joints together. What kinda influence will that have on Ryan and Reese’s children?? They will see the pics one day, won’t they (look in Jared’s archives!).

At no time was Ryan ever making resolutions or plans to get back together with Reese. I’m not sure what TV show that was reported on but I do know it was printed in OK Magazine in the U.S. Not exactly a bastion of journalistic integrity. Reese and Ryan were headed for a divorce for a year before it was made public and although they were both upset about it and the impact to their children they both knew it was the only option. Ryan was done with that marriage for a long time. It is silly especially in light of the fact that he is still with the same woman to pretend that he was wishing he was back with Reese.
Ryan is reported to have just purchased a 7 million dollar house in the Hollywood Hills. And Thursday his divorce settlement with La Witherspoon was ratified, the financial matters resolved. Might there be some connection between resolving the financial matters and his purchasing the house? In short, I ask: did the dough for the house come from Ms. Richbitch?

Reese purchased a 6 million $ place in Ojai. Ryan has just purchased a 7 million dollar house in the Hollywood Hills.
I may be wrong but my impression is that when Reese and Ryan got married there was no agreement about money. As time went on Reese began to make millions and Ryan a lot less. I suspect the money may have had something to do with their breakup. In any case, I believe California is a community property state so that half of what she made while married to him is his. When they divorced, he would have been entitled to get half of their wealth at that time. So the divorce gave him a big payoff that he used to buy this big house. That is my suspicion (only a suspicion since I don’t really know). Anybody know better or more?
