Selena Gomez: No Sex Before Marriage!
Selena Gomez, star of the Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place, plans to practice abstinence until marriage, reports Extra.
The 15-year-old tween sensation, who’s on the fast track to becoming the new Miley Cyrus, has declared she won’t be having sex until marriage.
Selena declared, “I said, ‘Dad, I want a promise ring.’ He went to the church and got it blessed. He actually used me as an example for other kids. I’m going to keep my promise to myself, to my family and to God.”
All of the Jonas Brothers practice abstinence and wear purity rings.

Good for her but promises like that are easy at 15.
where have i heard that before? oh yes, miley cyrus pledged that right after rumors surfaced that she was pregnant. and only less than a year after that, those private pics of her in her undies laying across a guy came out, assuring us that there was a very good chance she had already broken that promise.
while i think selenas a little more stable, i dont doubt she’ll break her promise too. pledging something like no sex until marriage is a very personal thing. and since half the teenagers who pledge it end up breaking it anyways (and thats a statistic) its better to keep it private so it doesn’t come back to bite you in the butt later.

That’s great and everything. but I don’t think that needs to be announced to the world. I think it was a mistake announcing it because if she ever should be in a situation where she is proved to do otherwise, this will be thrown back in her face.
To me it seems like she is trying to become popular by trying to be Ms. Innocent. Now that Miley has blown that rep for herself, Selena is trying to take over. People that flaunt there innocence are annoying.
Plus, she is 15 and has probably never even had a boyfriend. You don’t really think so much about sex until you are in a situation where there is the possibility of it being offered to you.

That’s what i said when i was 15. I’m 19 now and I have sex all the time with my boyfriend. You’re only a **** when you have sex with anyone and everyone. If you find the right person and you fall in love, why not? It’s fantastic and its a great way to connect with your partner. my boyfriend and i have so much fun trying new things together. Obviously its not appropriate at her age but (in my opinion), once you reach 18, do it with no regrets. Jamie Lynn is an idiot. You can get birth control for free at some clinics and if not its only $15-20/month and a box of 24 condoms is like $24, not to mention, if you go to university, the health centre has free ones. And guess what? I believe in God. People who have sex aren’t the Devil’s spawn. Just be safe.
As has already been pointed out Zac and Vanessa wear commitment rings there’s a difference between that and purity rings. As far as Selena is concerned if she’s really sincere (and IMO there is absolutely NO reason whatsoever to think she isn’t) then I applaud her. But as others have said it’s not a good idea to mention it public. Because God forbid she shows she’s human and screws up the media will never let her live it down.

I do applaud this young girl’s commitment to be true to herself.
HOWEVER, it also tells me she has not been in a serious or committed relationship yet. You can say all you want about remaining a virgin until marriage, but until you are faced with a more serious relationship, it’s all talk. Let’s see if she’s bragging about this ring when she’s 21 and no longer “daddy’s girl.”
I just don’t understand the need to broadcast such a private decision to the world either. It’s just asking for trouble, and setting her up to fail.

“Has she broken her vow to God?”
She will wish she had never told the world something that she SHOULD have kept private.
