Selena Gomez: No Sex Before Marriage!
Selena Gomez, star of the Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place, plans to practice abstinence until marriage, reports Extra.
The 15-year-old tween sensation, who’s on the fast track to becoming the new Miley Cyrus, has declared she won’t be having sex until marriage.
Selena declared, “I said, ‘Dad, I want a promise ring.’ He went to the church and got it blessed. He actually used me as an example for other kids. I’m going to keep my promise to myself, to my family and to God.”
All of the Jonas Brothers practice abstinence and wear purity rings.

I’m the same age as Selena, and although I haven’t had sex yet, I know I will be before marriage (probably a long time before marriage). Sexual hormones start to come in at around 15 years old for girls and if she has these but still doesn’t want to have sex any time soon then I think she could wait. I mean, we all know Miley Cyrus wont save herself but I believe that she said that not because she actually believed she could save herself but because it promotes her good image which she (used to be) famous for. What I’m trying to say is is that 15 year olds are not as naive as everyone thinks. We think about sex, we know about sex and we know the temptations that lay before us. If Selena STILL doesn’t want to have sex with all these temptations before her then it’s pretty likely that she’ll be able to keep her promise. A lot of celebrities such as Miley and Britney say this to promote their good image, but I think Selena actually is a good girl.

Did you not read my post? 15 year olds know about sex! FACT. And some of them want it. FACT. They are way past holding hands believe me. Times are changing, I wish people would understand that.

I’m not sure how old you are, but I’m guessing you’re probably older than I am because I’ve read some of your other comments on other posts. So that may have something to do with your point of view on this.
But what I think is that at age 15 girls are ready to make this kind of commitment. If they are serious about it, then they can keep it. That way they don’t have to worry about finding the right guy, because the right guy will be the one they’re married to. The purity ring isn’t a statement to other people, but more like a reminder to yourself. If you’re in a situation that may take a bad turn, and you look down at your hand and see it…if your heart is in the right place you’ll think about the man you’re going to marry someday and then make the right decision. It’s something you can give to your husband when you marry him, and then you can tell him that you are ready to give your whole self to him, not just a part of yourself. That makes a marraige stronger, and more secure. You don’t have to understand sex, or safe sex to make this decision. It’s just something that you have to commit to. And I think that in today’s world, only the very mature people do that.

Ok so I think it’s awesome that so many stars are wearing these purity rings. I don’t really care if they keep their promise, or not. What matters is that they show other kids around the world, that it is ok to not have sex until your married. It’s hard being a teenager these days, I feel like they’re talking about sex everywhere! There’s is a lot of grup pressure around.
