Chris Martin: I’m Still Trying To Live Up To Brad Pitt

Coldplay’s Chris Martin is happily married to Gwyneth Paltrow– they even have two kids together. But somehow, Chris still feels like an underdog.

“You’ve got to be hungry,” he tells Rolling Stone. “If your wife went out with Brad Pitt, you’d want to prove yourself, you know what I mean?”

Brad, then 31, and Gwyn, then 22, started dating in 1995 after they met on the set of the thriller Seven and got engaged in November 1996. Their two-and-a-half-year relationship ended in June 1997.

Also in the Rolling Stone article, Chris mentions that he sees reason for hope: “As soon as Barack Obama becomes president, people will be a bit more optimistic. If Obama was to be president, it would immediately change the whole outside world’s opinion of America overnight. America’s public image at the moment is really bad. And it’s a bummer, because over half of Americans are the coolest people on the planet. But they’ve been so misrepresented… But I think that, really, the fair thing would be, in electing the American president, to let everyone in the world vote, because it affects all of us. If there was a world vote, there’s no question who would win. No question. Of course, Barack Obama is human like the rest of us. He’s going to f— up. But I’m just trying to look on the bright side. What’s the point of being negative? Where does that get us? It gets you your own radio chat show, but it doesn’t really do anything for the world.”

nobody cares, nobody ever heard of Brad Pitt before Thelma and Louise, he isn’t a good actor, he is dull and played up a macho image that backfired in his face : now he is trying to justify his vain existence with half hearted ventures into humanitarianism while he lives in a castle…… Cjris Martin is a million times better than that vain, surgeried actor…. and it is stupid of him to say crap like this

BRAD IS A GREAT ACTOR!!!! hater!!!! lol

Typical lefty BS.

Obama probably isn’t going to be POTUS. Why? Higher taxes, no foreign experience, puny record, he is not the post racial candidate he said because he belongs to one of the most race hating churches in America run by Rev. Wright, visited by Pfleger and honored by Farrakan. Plus he knocked out the first viable female candidate & did it in a sexist manner. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned Barack.

BTW, Chris Martin is in bad company….Hamas, Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro wants BHO to be president too. I’m sure if asked Ahmedinajad would cast a vote for Barry too.

unknown@losangeles @ 06/11/2008 at 6:02 pm

That’s silly Mr. Martin… letting people who don’t pay American Taxes vote for our President.

Let us Americans vote for your leaders then we’ll talk about it. Seriously, just coz what happens here affects people over the world they suddenly feel they have right in our society and country.

Vow that you’re willing to die and shed blood for us through good times and bad and pay our taxes then you’ll get the CONSIDERATION to have the CONSIDERATION to vote in OUR ELECTIONS!

If you want to vote in America… become an AMERICAN CITIZEN! Seriously give more of yourself to MY COUNTRY than your opinion… if you’re going to make a statement like that!

Because if I could have it my way all the I’d vote all the Anti-American politicians out of every government in the world… after all what happens outside my country affects mine right?

What a stupid reason to let non citizens vote in elections of countries they don’t belong to. The most rediculous reason to let non-American citizens vote in American citizens… coz it affects them. Try pledging your allegiance first to America… then paying our taxes.

I think it is just a guy talk. I think he and gwenth have a good marriage. but don’t forget how gwenth was devestated when she borke up with brad. chris is talented in his music but not a very good lookinf guy at all. Brad is more famous, he is a good actor and many times voted the sexist man alive. There is something about Brad that drive everthing nuts for him. I am sure it is all for the saying sake he chirs said this.

yawn, they’re so banal and boring. CM can even be duller than that stockfish of wife. pff

sHE HAS SERIOUS PROLEMS @ 06/11/2008 at 6:28 pm

For god sake, Is this marriage work ? cuz they constant talking about brad and Angelina…. SOOOO PATHETIC…..

There is only one Brad Pitt, baby…and “he ain’t no Brad Pitt. :)

for all that downplay Brad at every turn, “he’s insincere” ” he’s a phony” “he’s not such nice guy as he would have everyone believe”
well apparently there’s someone who knows him a lot better than any of us who begs to differ and can’t forget about him 11 years later

Oh my! Poor guy. Brad Pitt has obviously been a conversation in their marriage. Can she not move on already? Okay, so you dated Brad Pitt, get over yourself. Yes, we know you work out with Madonna. We know you won’t let your kids eat at McDonalds. You are so COOL! She should be a bit more humble, especially when her mother and her could pass as sisters.

Frankly, I’ve always found Brad very bland, vain, and lacking in virility. I find Chris far more attractive.

Gwyneth Paltrow let Brad go & hated to hurt him cuz he was good. Then some pain and guilt mostly. Paltrow was the dominant one in the relationship - like how Angelina Jolie is now. Brad is easy. Women can lead him.

justasimpleman @ 06/11/2008 at 8:15 pm

What a loser!!!! This marriage probably won’t last. This man really has low self-esteem

Really I do not believe that CM and GP live their lives comparing themselves to BP’s or others. She’s not my favorite actress, and I like just one record of coldplay, but I think that the way CM talks is a joke, and maybe it’s being taken out of context.
After all, it must be tiring to be asked or referred to someone who is in the past. If Brad has also talked sometimes of someone in his past in a positive manner, Gwyneth and even others are entitled to say positive stuff or anecdotes about each other. It would show that they are adults, that they are open and hold no regrets, just like Angelina has said in the new post. Moving on does not necessarily mean erasing absolutely everything good and bad.

Barrack Obama is a Marxist. Please pay attention, USA.

Gwynnie is not a good actress .. she slept the whole way through the movie with Michael Douglas …
Brad gets down on his hands and knees every day and thanks God he did not marry this scarecrow on stilts.

great chris

I can’t help thinking that Chris is rather immature. I’m not American and yes, whoever is elected the american president will take actions which affect me - as will China’s president or Russia and in time, India.

However, America is not my country and American Presidents should always make sure that he puts his country and his country people’s interest first and foremost, as I would expect the President of MY COUNTRY to do.

The fact that an American President should make sure that America maintains good relationships with its allies and its neighbours because to do so is GOOD FOR AMERICANS is a no brainer. No man is an island and no country either in this globalised world.

csdc @ 06/11/2008 at 5:38 pm nobody cares, nobody ever heard of Brad Pitt before Thelma and Louise

Duh!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

You all can go after BP all you want but it doesn’t change the fact the Chris feels inferior to BP.

pianogirl @ 06/11/2008 at 9:22 pm

Omg, some of you people just don’t get the British sense of humour or maybe you just don’t have one but then what can you expect from people who can’t even spell basic words.

And no we don’t want to vote in your elections, but remember our country has the strongest alliance with the USA therefore what happens there politically matters to us. The arrogance and ignorance of some americans NEVER ceases to amaze me.

You can keep Mr Pitt, give me a man with true talent any day.

Chris Martin is funny finally someone said it out loud, Its hard to measure up to BP. GP never mentions Ben Afleck and the truck load of boyfriends after but, BP ex’s can’t move on

CM thought’s are insightful and right on time, America is hated because of this administration

“But I think that, really, the fair thing would be, in electing the American president, to let everyone in the world vote, because it affects all of us. If there was a world vote, there’s no question who would win. No question. Of course, Barack Obama is human like the rest of us. He’s going to f— up. ”

So if we use this kind of logic to elect a president, it shouldn’t seem so bad that George W. Bush was elected president twice right? What an idiot. It’s blanket statements like these that disenfranchise the American people in electing the candidate of their choice. So can I vote for the president of Venezuela now too???

OMG, csdc - what a crazy, delusional, *** you are. LOL.

I love Chris Martin. He’s such a witty, smart guy. So is Brad, actually. They’re both socially aware and doing their share to bring awareness to their different interests. We could learn a lot from them - maybe we don’t share their views, but at least they believe in something and actually do something about it. It’s so easy to just sit here in front of our computers, post anonymously, and judge.

PS And I do think he has a point regarding the President of the US. The US is not as powerful as it used to be, but it is still one of the most powerful countries in the world and what it does has global implications. And let’s face it - if George Bush did not decide to go to war against Saddam, Australia, the UK, etc., would not have, either, and their soldiers wouldn’t have died alongside the americans and iraqis.

mulu @ 06/11/2008 at 7:51 pm
Brad is easy. Women can lead him.
***********************************************

That has got to be the stupidest comment I’ve ever read on this board. If he was so “easy”, his ex-wife wouldn’t have been bed-hopping from man to man for the past three years and ended up getting pissed on by John Mayer.
