New Orleans still a top destination amid rebuilding

If you don’t gain weight in New Orleans, you’re not doing it right.

New Orleans, in southeastern Louisiana, is in the top 10 most visited cities in the United States. The city is known for its Mardi Gras celebration, Jazz and Heritage Festival and its food.

Chefs are this city’s celebrities, and it’s not uncommon to run into Chef Paul Prudhomme or Emeril Lagasse around town or sitting next to you at a Hornets basketball game.

And since 2005, the city — on one of America’s biggest ports — is synonymously associated with Hurricane Katrina. A levee system built around the city failed during one of the most famous hurricanes and thousands of homes were destroyed. More then 1,500 people died in New Orleans during the aftermath of Katrina. In the past three years, the city has slowly tried to rebuild and attract back the tourist dollars that many of the working class in the Big Easy depend on.

Ten things to do in New Orleans:

1 Cafe Du Monde:
If you haven’t had hot beignets with powdered sugar from Cafe Du Monde, a New Orleans landmark, you’re missing one of life’s greatest pleasures. This place — famous for its square-shaped fried dough fitters drenched, lavished and slathered in powdered sugar — opened in New Orleans in 1862. Its original location in the New Orleans French Market is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Today, the doughnut shop has seven locations in the New Orleans area.

The menu is simple and features coffee black, au lait or iced, and white or chocolate milk. Only in 1988 did Cafe Du Monde add soft drinks to its menu.

2 St. Louis Cathedral:

This cathedral, in the French Quarter, is one of New Orleans’ greatest landmarks. It is the oldest continuously operating cathedral in the United States, first established in 1718. The church often is the backdrop during political speeches or newscasts from New Orleans. It recently underwent a major restoration, and people are free to peek inside or attend services while in New Orleans. If you want to get married at the cathedral it will cost you $2,500.

3 Katrina tour:
This three-hour tour is one of the best things to do in New Orleans. I can’t recommend it enough. For most tourists, who never go beyond the restaurants, bars and bead throwing in the French Quarter, this tour is in stark contrast to the city’s party scene. Most people visiting the tourist areas would never know the devastation that still remains from Hurricane Katrina. Most of the tour guides are people who lived through the aftermath of Katrina, and they will tell you their own personal stories. The tour also goes through the 9th Ward, one of the most devastated neighborhoods. You’ll be amazed to see that much still needs to be done, and many people still are living in FEMA trailers.

4 Bourbon Street:
This street in the French Quarter is the city’s most lively and wildest. It is blocks and blocks of souvenir shops, bars and strip clubs with a few restaurants thrown in between. This is also the place where second-story revelers throw beads to walkers below.

5 Garden District:
The New Orleans Garden District was settled in the 1850s by entrepreneurs who wanted large mansions. The homes, in this section of town, are truly amazing and feature Greek, Revival and Queen Anne Victorian architectural styles. There are several tours, including walking, that give you a peek at homes that will make it hard to go home to your subdivision. Well-known people who have lived in the Garden District include former NFL quarterback Archie Manning, author Anne Rice and actor John Goodman.

I think that Brad and Angie learned from previous relationships that PDA is not necessary in public. That it just fuels the tabz more. Gwinnie said that if she had it to do over again she would have been more private. Brad and Angie are more affectionate in their body language which is really more sexy.
In the public announcement for Refugee day, Angie looks like the cover of EW magazine. Her hair is too close to her face and needs to be more fluffed out to give more volume. I really liked her hair when they went to dinner in Cannes with Clint. She really looked beautiful and more her age in the dress and hair style.
Don’t know why there is always talk about Brad and Angie’s past relationships. Lets get with the time, present.
The clip on Benjamin Bottom looks great and Shiloh is already a movie star like her mom but she is starting early.

of course Brad Pitt is numero-uno daddy; the guy is so compassionate and caring and he took on the role of dad to three adopted children witht the same passion and commitment as he has with his acting parts as well as his humanitarian projects.
Brad is a real-life all-round responsible person and an excellent role model for all males.
