I just saw this half an hour ago. Unbelievable. I had just read a story earlier this week about how unhappy he was at having to share the NBC election coverage with Keith Olbermann - because he doesn’t think Olbermann is qualified to cover the elections. How strange. I’d never seen a story like that on Russert before…and now not even a week later and he’s dead. That kind of odd coincidence is kind of freaky.

OT—- Rest is Peace Tim Russert!

This excerpt from Tim Russert’s book, Wisdom of Our Fathers, has me in tears. Luke is Tim’s son.

About a month later, Maureen, Luke, and I went back to Buffalo for Christmas Eve and then on to New York, where we attended midnight mass. When we returned to our apartment, Luke disappeared to take a shower. A few minutes later, I heard Maureen yelling, “My God, what have you done?” She ran into the room, horrified. “He has a tattoo!”

I jumped out of my chair and yelled, “Luke, come in here!” I was really mad. A few months earlier, when he had told me he wanted a tattoo, I brought up the possible health risks and pointed out the irreversibility of a youthful decision that he might someday regret. I had talked him out of it-or so I thought.

But here he was before me, with a towel around his waist and his arms firmly locked down.

“Let me see it.”

“No.”

“Let me see it!”

“No!”

“Luke, let me see it!”

He reluctantly raised his left arm, and there were the letters TJR. Those are my initials-and also my dad’s. Luke was misty eyed. “After I read your book,” he said, “I wanted you and Grandpa to always be on my side.”

I collapsed back into the chair-speechless-and then sobbed. Luke came over and wrapped his arms around me. Laughing and crying at the same time, I pledged never to complain about Luke’s tattoo again. I was honored to be on his side… forever.

There are always different standards for BP and AJ. I just read this:

This is just a poll, a tally of opinions. It’s just as important as your opinions or our opinions, depending on which side you’re standing on. Mind you, I would almost want to be a kid again if Brad could be my dad.

I can’t believe how sad I am about Tim Russert. I try not to watch too much coverage about the election or politics, in general, but I did check in on Meet the Press more than I used to. I always found him to be very professional and didn’t have that hunger to be a part of the story, although his presence contributed to anything he covered/moderated.

It’s just sad that the news business is being hijacked by sanctimonious amateurs.

I haven’t seen Obama’s children either so your ‘EVERYONE else’ phrase is not correct. I suspect there are many who haven’t seen his children as well. You should speak for yourself and perhaps your friends and family (if they shared your view) only, not EVERYONE.

Why not borrow your words and them a bit:
Perhaps your head is too far up McObama’s tottering a** that you can’t see that this man is too inexperience all around to be the leader of the free world.

Thank you! Flags in Buffalo are flying at half staff. His book was amazing, I always enjoyed Sunday morning with my coffee and Tim Russert, he will be missed.

As for the list, since when has any list included only those in that given area? If Brad was on the NYC top 15 fathers we’d be cheering him on! Lets stop being so critical of the list and take joy in the fact that these men TAKE CARE and love their children! And didn’t try and burn their home down like 50cent, then didn’t even call to see if they are ok! just sayin!
