OlderKatherine Heigl Slaps ‘Greys’ Writers in Face
Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl said on Wednesday that she did not put her name in for Emmy consideration this year because she did not feel she was given material to justify it.
Now, a Grey’s Anatomy insider fights back and says, “The show bent over backwards to accommodate her film schedule, and then she criticizes the show for lack of material?” the insider told EW. “It’s an ungrateful slap in the face to the very writers responsible for her Emmy win in the first place.”
Last year Katherine was advised by her own manager/mother that she “didn’t have a shot in hell of winning,” and made a point of telling the Primetime Emmy Awards audience in her speech.
Grey’s Anatomy has slipped in the ratings this past season but is still a top 10 show.

If the role sucked (she really got lucky with the “Denny” storyline) then it shows some class to decline the nomination. She shouldn’t have made any comment about it at all; just decline.

i think it was in poor taste to put the writers on blast. it is one thing to decline but it is another to put those who put you in this same position on blast. it shows that she is ungrateful not only for her comments, but for wanting to leave grey’s also. without the show, she would be a hasbeen like she was.
Of course it’s all right for her to speak her mind, but there is a time and a place for everything, and the Emmy Awards are neither the time nor the place for actors to air grievances with the producers/writers. This is so clearly a move to manipulate the writers into giving her character more screen time. And it’s very, very tacky. Oh, Katie. Why must you keep pulling stunts like this? I feel bad for the Grey’s cast. They had enough drama with the whole Isaiah Washington debacle to last a lifetime, and now they have to deal with Katie’s prima donna behavior (although methinks this is a pattern that was established long ago - remember when she made a stink about her salary?). What I have a problem with is her trying to present herself as noble here, when she is so clearly thinking about herself. If she really wanted to give another actress a chance, she wouldn’t have made those comments about “not being given material.” She really lacks class.

33# are you actually being serious in your comment????!!!!!! I’m sorry but have you read the post clearly because that’s not telling me that she may want to give another person a chance, that’s showing me a lack of gratitude and respect to the people who put her in the Holloywood ladder today.
Others on this comment board are right in that if she had a problem with her character in the show, then go to the writers themselves or whatever to sort everything out rather than slamming them in front of the public, and seriously if she did want to bring the matter into the public’s eye, than there’s a constructive and polite way of doing so, which she obviously forgot in her ‘I’m an honest person’ mode that she probably still hadn’t gotten off of after slamming Knocked Up.
Appparently Katherina Hiegal thinks that, and I quote, “I did not want to potentially take away an opportunity from an actress who was given such materials”, I’m sorry but is she seriously trying to actually imply that if she was nominated, she would have beat out other potential winners? so because she’s just that humble, she’s going to drop out to give them an easy win???!!! Obviously it didn’t take KH too long to let fame get to her head.
She sucks at acting, one of the worst actress I’ve seen get this far.

blaming the writers for her not deserving an Emmy is insulting to them, and making everyone else bend to fit her schedule is insulting to the other actors and all the people who put so much effort into making that show as great as it is. it basically says “i’m better than all of you, so if you want me, you will do what i say”
she always says that her character lacks depth and whatnot, but what does she call this? “i don’t deserve an Emmy..but it’s not my fault, it’s the writers’!”…REAL deep.
personally i like her character better! TV’s new “golden girl” will be getting a real kick in the face when they decide they don’t want to put up with her and she gets unexpectedly kicked off the show.

What a load of fuss over nothing.
KH issued this statement in relation to being asked directly by the LA Times for a reason why she had declined to put herself forward. She only commented because she was asked, & she spoke the truth. Greys was **** last season & the writers gave Izzie no storyline. FACT
She has proved she doesn’t need Greys anyway. She is bankable to movie studios & can now launch box office no 1 movies with her name alone. Honesty is rare in Hollywood, & appreciated.
64# . wow. Please don’t tell me that you believe that KH can alone launch No 1 movies in Box Office because that is taking it too far. Just because she had ONE movie that did well in the box office, you’re going and generalising it to everything that she is supposedly going to doin the future?
And please, why are you trying to come up with lame excuses about why Kh said what she said. When one is asked a question such as why did you take your name out for a nomination, if the answer can be answered in a constructive manner without causing any controversy or bashing than she should have done that when speaking the ‘truth’, rather than blaming the writers for her character’s not so good storyline whatnot, that’s just bullshit. Honesty is always appreciatred when the person who is being honest does it right without a spiteful and rude manner which I’m sorry to say is exactly what KH did and it’s going to bite her in the ass in the near future.

Heigl was quite brave to state the obvious. Season 4 was crap. She got ***** material, she would probably get a nom because this is how things roll with the Emmys.
SO didn’t have anything to do all season, and she is entering and risks getting a nom for doing nothing all season, and will be very happy.
CW got the material, and botched it. She proved that she cannot carry the dramatic material, and will be stuck doing the “nazi” ’til the show ends, and she will get a nod.
EP can’t act, she does perplexed, and hurt and perplexed. So they write her doing the only 2 things she can do over and over. This season she mastered the happy perplexed in the finale. She might get a nom.
So kudos KH. It was an horrid, and boring season, and you are right to slam the writers, and very right not to embarrass yourself with a nomination for an season and material that doesn’t measure up to the 3 preceding seasons.

i say good on her!!! thats why i love her she is always sooo honest! this past season of grey was the worst so her comments were true. hope the writers are listening.
also i think its a beautiful and humble thing to do - as she said it makes room for others this year to win. another reason why i love her, she could of easily got a nomination but spoke up and thought she didnt deserve one and that she would rather someone else get one.

Good for her! shes an amazing actress and didnt get any story lines. her co stars were probably thinking the same thing but Katie was brave enough to say it. besides who out of her co stars can lead a number one movie? Katie has two!

#70 ur joking right…..2…she only has one and that is 27 dresses and that was nothing to write home about. KU was a success due to its writers and the guys…..she was the weakest link in that cast.

Maybe she should give back her salary or just get off the show all together. What is the point of talking trash about the show that made you a star in the first place. She isn’t famous from her acting anyway. If she didn’t have her looks, she would have nothing. Her personality obviously isn’t admirable. She had a big part in getting a co-star booted off over the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Maybe they should have kept Burke on the show. It hasn’t been as good without him but she played a large role in heating up that incident with her big mouth, too.
What’s so brave about being a spoilt rich actress who takes a cheap shot at the writers and the producers of the show that made her famous.
Brave are soldiers who fight in a battlefield, or firefighters, and police in the line of duty who help others at their own peril…PLEASE what exacttly is so brave about this pompous actress?
i think maybe people did not understood well what she ment, im not a natural english speaker but i get the idea she didnt felt kind like ready jet or that she havent work enough to go there kind like it would be for nothing if she ahs nothign she feel like giving is not about the material someone givesyou to work with, the work of an actor is much more…is about the actor itself.. writters give you liens nad story but the actor itselfs gives the life and actitutes and wrigns to live the character and if wasnt reayd she jsut wasnt *-* why would it mena as an agression agaisnt the writters?
