Katherine Heigl Slaps ‘Greys’ Writers in Face
Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl said on Wednesday that she did not put her name in for Emmy consideration this year because she did not feel she was given material to justify it.
Now, a Grey’s Anatomy insider fights back and says, “The show bent over backwards to accommodate her film schedule, and then she criticizes the show for lack of material?” the insider told EW. “It’s an ungrateful slap in the face to the very writers responsible for her Emmy win in the first place.”
Last year Katherine was advised by her own manager/mother that she “didn’t have a shot in hell of winning,” and made a point of telling the Primetime Emmy Awards audience in her speech.
Grey’s Anatomy has slipped in the ratings this past season but is still a top 10 show.

Why should she return the money? She didn’t write the crap she was given to work with. She showed up to work , she gets payed, If anyone should be returning the money, it should be the writers. On that principle, SO that was given nothing to do all season by the writers should return her money too…

standing up on principle, knowing that people are going to attack you no matter what you say just because you are K. Heigl is brave.
This woman is so full of herself, and I really don’t see why. She’s been very very lucky in a year when producers were desperate for product because of the strike.
She could very well be the next David Caruso..
#76 Principle? WTF!!! She’s a highly payed actress and it was her self centered EGO that provoked her comments. All of this was to draw attention to herself at the expense of throwing the writers who give her words to put in her stupid mouth.
It was the same writers who gave her the same words before so why dump on them.
Brave is when you do something for someone else that is risky.
Was she suffering? Did her pay get slashed? No. She’s with a top notch ensemble cast and now she has pissed off the producers.
What a hypocrite..She was out there supposedly showing her support when there was the writer’s strike (CLEARLY that was just a b.s. act all for show to make her appear that she supported the writers guild union) And now when an opportunity comes to throw them under a bus for her lame chances at getting a nomination she gladly offered them up as her reason for not being good enough.

Get a dictionary STAT, right now I’ll help you, with the assistance of the nice people that make Merriam-Webster
hypocrite
Pronunciation: \ˈhi-pə-ˌkrit\
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English ypocrite, from Anglo-French, from Late Latin hypocrita, from Greek hypokritēs actor, hypocrite, from hypokrinesthai
1 : a person who puts on a false appearance of virtue or religion
2 : a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings
One thing KH never pretended was that she was at the picket line because she supported the writers, and the strike. She said she was there because her boss told her so. You can’t be more honest than that. KH’s big problem is exactly that. She doesn’t play the .hypocrite card.
hahaha.. lack of material? so she is saying that her storylines are ****… so what is good to her? 27 dresses? that was such a ****** movie.. no matter how bad the writing in greys may get or has been, it is still miles ahead of 27 DRESSES!!
LOL.
cant really blame her tho cuz the material for her role this season was crapp!! the whole fourth season was crapp., the end was ok when merder got back together but thats it. so all u people who r goin on about how thats rude nd **** well its not, i mean her role this season was prettty ******!
she doesnt even want to be on grey’s anymore so it really doesnt matter if the writers kill her off or w/e. cuz she said before that she wanted to leave but she still has a contract soo yeaa….
She is so stupid! Why she keep bringing this bad publicity to herself?
She so ******* stupid!
Real Writing talent in Hollywood is very rare. That is why there is so much garbage on TV (and at athe movies) and all shows end up boring after a few seasons. They run out of ideas - the mediocre writers, that is. Network TV is a wasteland of poorly written dramas, investigative police shows and ridiculously stupid half hour sit coms. Cable is getting all the good writers especially the USA Network, HBO and Showtime..
Oh Jared, stop being so damn melodramatic.
Why take a possible nod from someone who deserves it? Thats not right. I applaud her for standing up and being honest. This season has been nothing but suck for Izzie.
She has every right to disagree with the writers, SHE made Izzie, more than any writer’s paper EVER could have.
The writers have BUTCHERED the character of “Izzie” That character used to be my absolute favorite on the show..but now I don’t even like it when she comes on the screen (definitely not a flaw of Heigl). They have destroyed many other characters in the process as well, and they are turning the show into SH*T
I’m glad she made a stand for it, I’m sure many other Grey’s fans think the EXACT same way
I hope the writer’s quit making up stupid crap just to try to get ratings, because they really are destroying the characters.
Who the hell does she think she is? Judy Dench? Such a diva. This woman’s acting sucks anyways .
I agree with her decision. I think it’s actually thoughtful of her to withdraw her name if she wasn’t qualified enough. And how would it have been fair to the other nominees who work harder, have more lines and have a bigger role on a show than her?
But, I also think that if she had a problem with her role, she should’ve confronted the writers and producers first before making an unexpected move like that.
I don’t know. I’m at both ends on this one.
“There are no small parts, just small actors.” You want to shine, shine. Boo hoo that the writers didn’t just turn it all over to you this season — in an ensemble show, other people get their turn up at bat, too.
Plus, she could have blamed her withdrawal on the shortened season due to the writer’s strike, or could just have withdrawn, without the comment. There are ways of doing things right, and ways *not* to do them — she’s not big enough yet (in other than the literal sense) to go around stomping on people’s toes.
I’ve seen her in action before, and she takes over any project she’s involved with — usually by showering charm on the writers. Girl *knows* where her bread is buttered. That she’s *so* ignoring that now, indicates that
1) she wants off Grey’s, and knows just how to achieve it
2) she’s not getting enough mileage anymore from naming herself as the patron saint of gays
3) she believes she’s too big to need a TV show anymore, that a career as a movie star awaits
4) all of the above.
That attitude has crashed other actors before, who dreamed that their star was rising, and wanted out of their TV contract. People with much more talent than her. If she keeps up with the mouth, she won’t be “Knocked Up” — she’ll be “Knocked Out”.
If she “wasn’t qualified,” she just wouldn’t make the cut. To say she’s withdrawing to give someone else a chance implies that if she stayed in, they *wouldn’t* have a chance.
In Hollywood, there is a way things get done, and a way things do *not* get done. There’s a way the game is played, and it’s a good thing. You do not go around publicly badmouthing your project — you go to the source and fix it, or you keep your mouth Closed.
I think people submit *themselves* for consideration to be nominated for an Emmy. You send in an application and a clip. So if she didn’t want to be nominated, she just didn’t have to send one in. Or if she *did* get nominated, you stay in the race to win points for the team — even to be listed as a “nominee” is good for the show.
Tom Hanks told that to his son, Colin Hanks — show ‘business’ is in two parts. The part that’s fun, is making the “show”. But there’s a *business* side to it, too, and that’s where playing the game is important. A lot of money rides on these things, and if you’re on the team, you have to be a team player. Any mention or notice of a show or movie — barring the openly badmouthing kind of mention — is good publicity for the show.
And uncounted people’s livings are hanging by a thread on this stuff: after the Emmys, networks tally the number of noms and wins they got, and that each show got, to use in advertising. This benefits everyone — the lowliest crew members up to the highest network execs, whose careers are riding on it.
One thing KH has always had going for her was that she knew how to smile, hug, handshake, and play her cards, to get people to put her in a show to begin with. I’m astonished that she continues to show such amazingly bad judgment in the way she’s playing the game now — as I said above, it seems that she thinks she’s too big to have to worry about it. If Tom Hanks is not too big to worry about it, then KH for certain is not there yet.
How long do you think a major league baseball player would continue to earn those big bucks if he forgets how to play the game? (And I don’t just mean the game in the stadium.) We’ve seen it — they screw up, they get their butts kicked. Drugs, bimbos, trashing hotel rooms, not showing up for training, etc. — you don’t play, you pay.
u guys are the most naive people ever, calling her a ***** and stuck up just because she spoke her mind, unlike all these other monotone actors/tresses who all say the same humble **** you know very well is false and prepared because they have no brains to orally express whats in their minds. i mean yeah, what she said was arrogant, but dont blast her as a diva. this is how she feels and she’s sayin it as it is. i remember her comments about Knocked Up being “kinda sexist” and tho i disagreed with her, i gave her kudos for speaking what she thought and not jabbering on with same answers any brainless actress would say like “Oh i loved my character, she was fun to play” or “oh the movie is such a fun movie to make and to watch *smile*”
I think I can forgive her. She has the symptoms of someone who has Asperger syndrome. People who are normal are aware how their actions affect others and she has none of that.
Your effort does help me a lot, thank you.
I really liked your blog! super
