She Thought She Won a Toyota!
An oldie but goodie! A great newspaper clipping from years ago:
“Jodee Berry of Panama City, Fla., sits with her toy Yoda at her lawyer’s office Wednesday. Berry, a former Hooters waitress, has sued the restaurant where she worked saying she was promised a new Toyota for winning a beer sales contest in April. Berry, 26, believed that she had won a new car, but she was blindfolded, led to the parking lot and presented a toy Yoda, the little green guy from Star Wars.”
And for the slow folks out there, a TOY YODA is not the same thing as a TOYOTA.

That’s what Hooters is all about. You think you are getting or seeing the real deal but you end up with a fake “prize.”

For those of you who say you would sue for being “disappointed” — YOU are what is wrong with this country. Why do we expect a disappointment free life???? Get over yourselves.
Wow, this must have been several years ago at least, because I actually heard about this case at law school (and I’ve been out for three years). From what I remember, this gal went all out to win this contest — traded shifts to take extra hours and work overtime — and the managers did nothing about it, just took advantage of the work she was doing, all the while laughing up their sleeves about the big surprise she had coming.
Someone in our class asked the obvious question of whether she won, and our prof said something to the effect of “let’s just say she’ll be able to buy any car she wants.” :>
Good for her, I’d say. This was a really mean joke, and I’m glad it turned out the joke was on them.

What’s with people dissing her because of where she works. That place sounds tacky and ****** but u can’t judge a person so harshly just because of where they work. Maybe she couldn’t afford the education you did?

I can’t believe she won the lawsuit! She should have lost and have the word idiot tattooed on her forehead so that any future employers would see her coming and NOT hire her!
