Brad Pitt Rocks Out With Radiohead

Brad Pitt meets up with his Fight Club costar Ed Norton to catch a Radiohead concert together at Civica Arena in Milan, Italy on Wednesday night.

Norton has said, “Brad and I had a mutual fixation on the second two Radiohead albums.”

Also at the concert was Mariane Pearl, Brad and Angelina Jolie’s close friend. (Angie starred as Pearl in 2007’s A Mighty Heart.)

Norton’s latest superhero flick, The Incredible Hulk, is out in theaters now. Angie’s action thriller, Wanted, is out in theaters on Friday, June 27. Reviews are already pouring in and it looks like it’s going to be a smash hit!

“Relentless, in-your-face action and a classy cast led by a beefed-up James McAvoy and a heavily tatted Angelina Jolie combine to promise powerful B.O. prospects worldwide for Universal.” — Variety

“This over-the-top, ultraviolent, hyperkinetic action thriller pretty much has it all… The three of them (Jolie, McAvoy and Morgan Freeman) prove to be colorful assets in a film where even the bullets seem to have a personality all their own.” — Hollywood Reporter

If you smell bull$h*t, it must be Terd.

And BTW, thanks for tracking his bull$h*t over here. Being indignant doesn’t require an audience. And Terd doesn’t require additional attention, much less hate mail from JP fans; clearly, that’s what he’s looking for.

I have to wonder what you’re looking for.

Hey Ruth,it had already been discussed in d earlier postings,ok!I’m no spoiler.

Well lina , why find the need to repeat it ,maybe there were some people who did not know, it was just bad form IMO.

And earlier, there was a discussion about talking about the movie on an old thread; funny how you missed out on that one.

A thought for the day…
This may be a ‘duh’, but haters, Terd, tabloids, etc. deal in suspense; fans of celebrities prefer surprise. Suspense is usually bad; surprises tend to be good. Suspense is hard to execute which is why the tabs, Terd and all of the naysayers continue to look like pathetic stalkers. Surprise is pretty simple, basic, and authentic.

The JPs have given us plenty of surprises, basic, simple, authentic surprises. It’s remarkable that some can’t appreciate it and choose to seek out contrived, flat as millpot suspense.

Looking forward to seeing WANTED on Friday.

I don’t play victims well, says Angie

Angelina Jolie is famous for playing strong women, from Lara Croft in Tomb Raider to Mariane Pearl in A Mighty Heart. And the trend continues - in Wanted, she plays a cold-blooded assassin who is willing to kill without emotion.

But the mother-of-four, who is due to give birth to twins fathered by partner Brad Pitt, denies that she instantly chooses roles where she plays independent women.

“Well, (with) Changeling that is coming out later this year, she’s strong emotionally. She’s a mother and she eventually becomes stronger, but she wouldn’t typically be considered as a strong woman,” she says.

“So no, not always. But I do think there is something. I don’t think I play a victim well, that is true. I don’t think somebody that has no guts and no drive and no focus, somebody’s who just lost. I don’t want to do that, and I don’t think I’m good at that,” Angelina adds, laughing.

Wow the Benjamin Button Trailer is sparking all kinds of interest in the Movie. It is a beautiful Trailer.

If nothing else, the trailer — largely devised by Fincher, the ultimate hands-on filmmaker — reminds us that not every trailer has to play like a greatest-hits reel culled from the (fill in the blank: funniest, scariest or most exciting) scenes in a film, all so hideously pre-tested that no moment with any ambiguity or mystery could possibly survive. In terms of an opening, it’s hard to top the trailer’s first image: As we pull in toward the face of a clock, the narrator (Pitt, with a New Orleans accent) says: “My name is Benjamin Button. I was born under unusual circumstances. While everyone else was aging, I was getting younger — all alone.” As he finishes, the clock ticks — backward.

Propelled by French composer Camille Saint-Saens’ melancholy “The Aquarium,” Fincher shows us Button’s life via a series of arresting images: A man rowing on a lonely lake. Pitt, studying himself in the mirror, wearing spectacles and boxer shorts, his head cocked to one side, as if bewildered by his strangely youthful appearance. A father, holding a little girl in his arms, a balloon slipping out of their hands. The trailer ends with the most bewitching image of all: A young toddler, walking with his lover, now aged, hobbling along with a cane.

Thanks to both the images and the music, the trailer does what a great trailer should — it leaves us wanting more, having tempted us with a tale that is both magical and steeped in an air of ineffable sorrow.

First I have to say Fantasy Moguls is not always accurate with predicting boxoffice number but I noticed that today he escalated his estimate from previous $30mil to $36-41 mil. He might have realized that he underestimated this film critically and commercially. Majority of critics (so far 29/34 at rottentomatoes )and the people who watched gave it very positive reviews.

excerpt
Meanwhile, Universal has, smartly, positioned Wanted, the Angelina Jolie action film with a strong R rating, to grab a healthy number of grown-ups, especially men, this weekend. Some critics are complaining about the over-the-top violence from the remarkable director of the amazing Night Watch series, Timur Bekmambetov. Overall, however, critics love the movie, which running at 84 percent Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes as of Wednesday night.

Hollywood executives had better learn how to pronounce Bekmambetov’s name, and anyone who saw his 2004 Russian release Night Watch and its follow-up, Day Watch, would have seen this coming. Wanted is filled with startling visuals, visceral action and edge-of-your-seat thrills, and it has a great “popcorn movie” sensibility. It is fun and smart and likely to become a successful franchise for Universal. Although it lacks the spiritual underpinnings of The Matrix, it is a worthy successor to that Wachowskis Bros. classic.

Industry tracking points to the all-time best June opening for an R-rated movie topping last summer’s Knocked Up:

ALL-TIME TOP 5 R-RATED JUNE OPENINGS
1. Knocked Up — $30.69 million
2. The Happening — $30.51million
3. Total Recall — $25.53 million
4. The Rock — $25 million
5. Eraser — $24.56 million

My final prediction is for $36 million-$41 million Friday-thru-Sunday, which would make it one of the all-time top 12 best R-rated openings.

Jay Leno to perform flood victim benefit show at Mirage

By Steve Friess, Special to the Los Angeles Times

Leno instead focuses on his work, which this week includes a hastily scheduled show at the Mirage on Friday to benefit flood victims in the Midwest. (Another show was slated to happen this last Wednesday.)

“It seems like a good way to raise money, and you can raise a couple hundred grand fairly quickly,” he says. “In other cities, you’d have to rent a hall, print up tickets, and the amount of money you would be able to give would be decreased significantly by your expenses. In this case, I call the Mirage and I say, ‘Hey, can I get the showroom to do a couple of shows?’ You keep the expenses almost to zero; nobody makes a dime.”

Leno faces an uncertain future, due to depart from “The Tonight Show” next year despite dominating in the ratings and clearly still reveling in the gig. He isn’t sure what comes next or even what sort of final-night show he might do to rival the emotional Bette Midler-serenaded 1992 departure of predecessor Johnny Carson.

Leno says he hasn’t given that moment much thought but hinted at how it might turn out. “There are only about 18 in the whole world who make a difference, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Gov. Schwarzenegger,” he ruminates.

Stars set for UK Panda premiere

The film had its world premiere in Cannes in May
Film stars Jack Black, Dustin Hoffman and Lucy Liu are set to attend the premiere of their new film, Kung Fu Panda, in London later.

The animated film follows the story of bungling panda Po - voiced by Black - who aspires to be a kung fu warrior.

Angelina Jolie and Jackie Chan, who also voice characters in the film, will not be attending the screening.

The film had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May and opens in UK cinemas next month.

During an interview to promote the film in Cannes, Black accidentally confirmed the open secret that Jolie was pregnant with twins.

The film has been a hit in the US and Canada, taking $60m (£30.4m) in its opening weekend at the box office.

But some in China have urged the country’s censors to ban the film there in revenge for Steven Spielberg’s decision to pull out of the Olympics in his role as artistic adviser.

Spielberg founded Dreamworks, the production company behind Kung Fu Panda.

Over 1,300 Students Mobilize to Rebuild New Orleans on July 4th
06.25.08, 3:28 PM ET

Student volunteers from 152 campuses across the U.S. will dedicate their July 4th holiday to rebuilding New Orleans’ Lower Ninth Ward community for residents and their children. HOPE worldwide, with the help of these young volunteers, plans to clear 50 to 100 building lots making way for future homes, develop a memorial garden for those who lost their lives during the storm and complete other beautification projects.

Why would these students volunteer to help restore New Orleans’ Ninth Ward over their mid-summer holiday?

One volunteer, Jon Elwell, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, said, “I really want to help families left homeless by Hurricane Katrina. Our country has a proud tradition of people stepping up to serve. I can’t think of a better way to mark our nation’s birthday.”

Good Morning all. Wow people sure spend a lot of time discussing no name gossip queens, rags and the latest rumor of the moment. BP and AJ are living their lives waiting on the birth of twins. They have great projects to look forward to also.

Troll(s) who work for the rags, blogs or gossip sites are trying to generate discussion and find out information. They are too lazy to do the research themselves. Most of these gossip queens are antiquated and on their way out. Blogs with their fast as the internet news have made them obsolete. However, there is always a 3rd rate rag that will hire an ousted lying PR person or an aging queen. Have a great day and make it a MIR day. Thanks for all the videos and links. Let’s support WANTED, a full-filled popcorn ride this weekend. Peace to all.

hehehe ……men ’s not just into her will be shown next year.ohohohoh.have a re-shoot and remove the x factor.

I like this review. “Just sit down, shut up and hold on.”

Review: Jolie Slays ‘Em In “Wanted”
Actress Heats Up The Screen With James McAvoy In “Wildly Outlandish Action Flick”
AP) The movie is called “Wanted” and the star is Angelina Jolie. No, it is not a documentary.

(AP) The movie is called “Wanted” and the star is Angelina Jolie. No, it is not a documentary.

It is, in fact, a super-stylized, wildly outlandish action flick that will pick you up, throw you around, drop you back down on the ground and leave you begging for more. It’s the ideal, mindless summer thrill ride - one you can never take too seriously, even when it starts to take itself too seriously.

Based on the graphic novels by Mark Millar and J.G. Jones, “Wanted” follows the unlikely transformation of Wesley Gibson (the increasingly versatile James McAvoy) from miserable cubicle dweller to master assassin. When we first meet him, he’s being berated yet again by his obnoxious hag of a boss; if you know anything about anything, you know that in a fantasy world like this, she will surely get hers in the end.

Jolie, as the appropriately named Fox, yanks Wesley from his dreary life and introduces him to The Fraternity, a secret society of freakishly skilled, highly trained killers - of whom his recently murdered father, the man he never knew, was the best of the best. They’ve been around for 1,000 years and, as their cover, they work in a textile mill. Because no one would ever suspect that.

Kazakhstan-born director Timur Bekmambetov clearly had a blast emptying his own clip of filmmaking tricks: sped-up sequences, slo-mo, curving bullets that defy the laws of physics. And he serves up one tremendous car chase that will make you apprehensive about driving through Chicago anytime soon.

When things finally reach their breathless conclusion, not a hair is out of place in Jolie’s perfect, sexy twist. She’s back in butt-kicking Mrs. Smith mode - lethal but cheeky. The diminutive McAvoy, meanwhile, maintains much of the underdog likability we saw from him in the underappreciated coming-of-age comedy “Starter for 10,” but it’s obvious he’s had a few visits with a personal trainer. (It seems the Scottish actor has also seen a dialect coach, and has come back with a solid American accent.)

Sure, you’ve seen plenty of this type of amped-up nonsense before - in the “Matrix” series, or in last summer’s ultraviolent “Shoot ‘Em Up,” which was just as elaborately choreographed and edited but felt like more of an onslaught. That doesn’t make “Wanted” any less enjoyable.

And certainly you could have a philosophical debate about the merits of The Fraternity’s purpose: to kill people who were fated to do evil deeds anyway. But that would needlessly tax your brain, and there’s no room for that now. Just sit down, shut up and hold on.

is it true shiloh possible nom for best supporting actress?cate!!!

No, Its not true. I assume you are reading the mega3 at JJB. It is just some of the posters there trying to be funny.

Thanks for the morning news bdj!! :)

…and lol anustin, Shiloh will win an Oscar before X does. muahaha

later gators!

They are talking about Mandela’s 90th birthday celebration on GMA now and all the celebs there. Wonder if Brad will flly in. I can kinda understand if he goes for it is once in a lifetime experience, I know Angie would love to be there. But I feel that being with Angie at this time is important too, I recall my husband going away while I was 8 months pregnant to take care of business with his brother. I did not appreciate it at all, but maybe Angie thinks differently. I was not too happy with Brad being at the Radiohead concert while Angie was back at the ranch (lol), but maybe the concert visit was a father’s day gift like going to the fight in Las Vegas. She knew it would make Brad happy. Angie is such a giving soul, people just can see that. As for the lesbian thing, please, look at Ellen and Rosie! All love Ellen, she won an Emmy.
Angie is my girl!

good morning Bampzsville :D

So so funny! Thanks for the morning laughs, anustin.

I’m so proud to be a fan of Angie and Brad. Their humantarians actions speak louder than words. You have to admire the things they do. They’re so beautiful inside and out. May god bless them and their family.

One more day my friend and I’m in the theater to see WANTED.
I don’t think I ever get this excited to see any movie til now. All the reviews are so awesome!!!!!!!!! I can’t wait to see Angie kick some asses.
