Kate Winslet is Old and Haggard
Kate Winslet fast forwards a few decades in the aging process thanks to a make-up job well done on the set of her new movie, The Reader in Berlin, Germany, on Friday.
In the film, the 32-year-old British actress plays the role of Hanna Schmitz, who is described as an illiterate and former guard at Auschwitz for the major Nazi military organization under Adolf Hitler. She also works as a tram conductor toward the beginning of the story, as well.
The Reader tentatively will open in theaters nationwide on Dec. 12, 2008. Ralph Fiennes also costars.

Love Kate, but that looks like a crazy old man, not an old woman! She may not have been described as a delicate old lady in The Reader, but this isn’t how I imagined her!

It really amazes me when i see actors and actresss on screen/film differently. Make up artists do make the miracles! Either its to make older or otherwise.

i read the book “the reader” as well. what i see in the photograph of kate as the old lady is what i personally envisioned for the former guard at Auschwitz. i dont want anyone to see this evil charatcter as “a delicate old lady” on the screen.

If you read correctly, I said that I do NOT want her to look like a delicate old lady, because it’s not how her character is described in the book. I just said she looks rather…odd.
I think thta she looks like a reader. I wonder why to read. If there is no purpose in life there is no purpose in reading

Yesterday I tried to cook cream of mushrooms - champiñones. I put water with mushrooms-champiñones in a big pot, then I added a tomato and a onion, and then I cooked at low fire for a long Time, I crushed all. The result was very bad. So today I decided thta instead of a cream it was a sauce, and I bought a big beef chop. I heated oilo very high and then I put the schop and then thge sauce. Once it was cooked I had to sauces, one cooked with the chop and the other not cooked with the chop. As a company with the chop, my cream was very good as a sauce.
Tomorrow I will try my sauce with squid
I think Kate Winslet is gorgeous! Just look at that face on the left! I have no idea why she is often thought of as if she’s one of the plain normal looking girls in hollywood! What? She looks like a classic beauty and so naturally glamourous!
Anyway this is shocking to see her in that makeup! Briliant makeup work! Kate Winslet will FINALLY win her Oscar for this role. She will rock it. I just know it. It’s a really good juicy role. Her best yet.

Wow!!! That makeup is amazing….I can’t say I didn’t recognize her though because I still see Kate in there. It’s all in the eyes..she has very expressive eyes. I can’t wait to see The Reader. I’m sure it will be awesome.
I honestly love this woman. She’s not a Hollywood celeb who’s always in the news. She’s an actress and she works hard. She’s an amazing actress IMO and I love how she’s always herself all the time. It’s refreshing for us girls to have that when most of Hollywood is filled with stupid attention seekers. So you go Kate!

you’re crazy #22 that’s AMAZING makeup work. Don’t you know brilliant aging makeup when you see it? Jeez. Brad Pitt is ageing too this year. It will be the year of ageing makeup. Makeup is getting so advanced they won’t even need to hire really old actors anymore. Just put the young ones in makeup. ha ha.
This would be what I consider good acting, or good makeup job, or both: you can’t see the actor (or actress) in the movie, but just the character. It’s a real art work.
It’s boring to see a movie where all you see is the actor (or actress) no matter how they pretend to be somebody else.

Why do you want to destroy the taste of champignon mushroom with tomatoes? Let them soaked in the broth and then put the cream (of course, the spices you may not forget). Or, make simply Bolognese sauce and put the mushroom at the very end. Let them dancing on your tongue and seduce you with their mild flavour. If you want to make Carbonara sauce, just don’t invite me. I try to keep my body in shape

33rd!!! It never ceases to amaze me what make-up can do for people. Beautiful or ugly or old or youthful. The power of it all. It’s a good thing she is still pretty through it all though, and a talented actress.
